Chapter 659: A Counter Plan Part V

Chapter 659: A Counter Plan Part V

“How’s it possible? How can she penetrate Gaia so easily?”

Maysa muttered in awe. Even though she was dragged out of the battle by Vis, she could still see it clearly.

“Even the Excalibur couldn’t do that. And this is only a mere bullet...”

Vis smiled slightly as he brought out his first aid kit.

“That’s not just a mere bullet.”

“What?” Maysa turned to him. “But even my Illusion couldn’t do that. I understand that Valentine’s is of a higher level, but there’s a limit to a gunner’s power. We’re inferior to those with high defense points.”

“That’s not wrong.”

Vis opened the disinfectant bottle.

“Lie down, I’ll tend your wound. Damn it, you should really worry more about yourself than others. Being a gunner means to focus at all times, remember that.”

“Eh? Er... okay.”

Maysa was confused. It seemed like the man was calmer and more composed than her. The girl could only obey and slowly lie down, even though there was a mad battle before her.

“Valentine’s Illusion has been improved to the highest level. It’s not strange that she can penetrate Gaia’s thick shell.”

“Eh? ...Ouch!”

Vis poured the disinfectant on the wound on Maysa’s stomach. Maysa screamed in pain. It stung too much!

“I’m sorry. Endure it a little longer and it’ll be better.”

“I... I’m fine. Don’t worry.” Maysa gritted her teeth. “But is it really okay to leave her alone?”

Maysa turned to the battle. Valentine was running along Gaia’s arm just like what she did. The difference was that every hit of hers penetrated the shell. Gaia was turning into a honeycomb!

Seeing that, she smiled awkwardly.

She seemed to be fine.

“You see it, right? She’s fine.” Vis chuckled before he began cleaning the wound and put more disinfectants on it. “No need to worry. Valentine’s Illusion is a lot different from yours. You chose to improve it as an illusional magic, while Valentine’s is an illusional weapon. Therefore, no matter how hard the shell is, it doesn’t matter. Valentine’s bullets are neither normal nor magic, they were illusion bullets that penetrate every physical and magic defense.”

“Illusion bullets?”

Maysa narrowed her eyes to look at the man before her. She owned the same kind of weapon, but she did not know everything about it.

“To simply say it, there’s nothing Valentine can’t penetrate.”

BOOM!!!

An explosion was heard again, and everyone turned to it. This time, Maysa opened her mouth widely because half of Gaia was just blown away. The giant fell on the floor.

The number one gunner of Pride landed on the ground and extracted the bullet shell out of the cylinder.

“Almost over.”

Vis sighed softly and pulled Maysa back up because he wanted to put bandages around her.

“She can take care of it so easily.”

Maysa opened her eyes widely.

“Because it’s Valentine,” Vis added. “That lady is good at seeing through all weak points from watching, smelling, and listening to it. She uses those senses to analyze and conclude it.”

“I... Is that...” Maysa looked Vis in the eye.

“Yes. It’s a Signetic.” Vis nodded. “It’s an ability to search for weakness, ‘Scan’.”

That got Maysa narrowing her eyes. She turned to Valentine, who was looking at Gaia struggling to push herself up.

“So, she really possesses the Signetic,” Maysa said. “That’s why she can win that easily. This is the difference between mere humans and monsters.”

“Monsters?” Vis raised his eyebrow while he was wrapping bandages around her. “That’s a little cruel. Even with one, it’s not that easy to fight. It’s actually because of you, Maysa.”

“Me?” Maysa turned to Vis.

“Valentine’s been watching you fight for a while. We didn’t come out sooner because she thought that you could push Gaia to do more, and it would be easier for her to analyze it. This is the result.”

He tilted his head towards Valentine as if to say that Maysa played a big part in the success. Maysa could sense that he was genuinely nice, so she gave him a smile... Although it was really awkward.

“Even so, it was useless without the Signetic.”

The man halted.

“Do you want it?” He asked.

“I don’t know.” She shook her head. “Sometimes I just feel like I want power to be able to stand proudly next to my loved ones.”

Vis scoffed softly and smirked. This girl was so adorable.

“Vincent is such a lucky man.” He sighed. “Listen, Maysa, I’d like to say this because we’re in the same position. Stop thinking nonsense!”

“H... Huh?!” Maysa was startled.

“It’s not about the Signetic. You are you and he is him. The reason for you to stand next to him isn’t power, it’s what’s right here.” He hit his chest softly. “I’ve been with that girl my whole life. You have no idea how much disaster she’s caused. If I think like you, I would have left her since I was ten.”

Maysa blinked. Vis was still dressing the wound.

“I don’t need power to stand next to her. If she wants me there, I’ll be there. It’s that easy. You don’t have to overthink it.”

Maysa looked down at her hands. They were squeezing hard.

“Your fight just now was a mess, Maysa,” Vis said. “You have your good points and I believe that those are the reasons why Vincent wants you to cover his back.”

“... I don’t know about that.”

Vis laughed. “The Signetics are pretty selfish. A lot of people I know are like that. They usually do things without reason. They just think it’s the right thing to do. Maybe it’s a Signetic instinct? Both you and I are chosen by the Signetic instinct.”

“Chosen by the Signetic?” Maysa raised her head up and laughed. “Sounds so irritating.”

“That’s the way it is.” Vis beamed. “It’s irritating, but it’s enough to make me stay by her side forever. What about you, Maysa? Is that reason enough?”

Maysa turned the other way. She looked a lot better now. She pressed her lips lightly as she did not know how to answer. Vis chuckled.

“Ouch!”

The man, who just finished dressing the wound, hit the girl’s back lightly, yet the wounded girl was startled. She glared at him. The man smiled.

“You don’t have to answer me. Keep it for that man.”

Vis stood up, leaving Maysa sitting there with her sulky face. In the end, she smiled.

“I think the lucky one is Ms. Valentine,” Maysa said.

“And the most pathetic one is me.” Vis smiled and offered Maysa a hand to pull her up. “Nice timing. Rak is as punctual as always.”

They looked at Valentine, who was standing on a falling Gaia. The giant slowly drooped down. Her glowing eyes tardily dim down as a sign that...

The Goddess was defeated.

Maysa opened her eyes widely. She wanted to open her mouth, too, if she was not afraid that her image in the four gods’ eyes would be ruined because Valentine was walking towards her as the big Illusion gun disintegrated.

Sis! It was only a blink of an eye and you solo killed that Gaia?!!

What the heck?!

The Signetics were scary, but the four gods were scarier!!
