Chapter 63: Entice the Tiger to Leave its Lair (1) Part III

“Got it. I’ll be right there.”

“Then, hurry!” The moody voice talked on her communication device softly, like she did not want anyone to overhear her conversation.

Maysa let out a big sigh before she closed her communication window down. The pair of grey eyes were sparkling with frustration.

She was frustrated that many problems kept finding her nonstop!

And apart from everything, she was very frustrated by someone’s eyes that had been staring at her!

“Did you finish with your business on your phone, Miss Maysa?” The gentle voice asked politely. However, the other one just made a groan from her throat, sounding like ‘Hm’. She kept her chin up without even trying to be polite in return.

“I really hope the one who you just contacted was the famous Vincent.” His words made a smile appear on her cute face.

“It’s really rude, listening to other people’s conversations like this...” She spoke with a stiff voice, glancing at him with the corner of her eyes. “Mister Thada.”

“Oh, my apologies, if I’ve made you feel displeased.”

“It’s okay. I could have guessed your nature,” she satirized him burningly. However, his pretty face still stayed strangely calm, like he did not feel anything about her words earlier. Thada grinned widely like he was having a good time.

Unlike Maysa who hated being here with this GM, who was well known for being handsome, scanning her face like he was looking for viruses. The first meeting with him had destroyed her expectations completely due to the fact that this guy was actually an annoying moron!

After Maysa got the notification from her news feed window that she had won first place in the hunting Lord Inferno photo quest, she was very happy that she could scream throughout the city. But when she went to meet this GM to talk about how to claim her prize, she then started regretting winning the event immediately.

Because GM Thada was just too much and overacting, especially when he had some fishy conditions with the prize he was about to give her!

“So, what’s the deal, Mister Thada? How do I claim my prize from winning the photo quest? Should I bring a copy of my census and ID card to prove my identity?” Maysa was being sarcastic, purposefully to annoy him. She was sitting cross legs on a chair in the GM office, fearlessly.

Because normal players would totally get nervous being here. Unlike the gunner girl who remained calm, eyes staring at the man in front of her tensely. She did not have her friendly smile on as usual, but the look in her eyes was really nerve-racking, just like how Thada was expecting. And he could not help but feel amused.

“It doesn’t have to be that troublesome, Miss Maysa,” he said. “Just you being here is proof enough. Then we’ll need your photo code, and that’ll be all. In other words, all your statements are correct and already completed.”

“Then where is my prize? What’s the reason you keep wasting my time here?!” She raised her voice on purpose to show her dissatisfaction.

“Please calm down, Miss Maysa. I’d like to ask you something.”

“What is it about?”

The girl asked innocently, even though she already knew what the other wanted to know from her.

“It’s about your friend.”

“Who are you talking about? I have a lot of friends.” She was still trying to get on his nerves, and the other just put a smirk on his pretty face.

“You know who, Maysa. I’m talking about the most wanted man, who everyone’s curious to know his identity. The man named Vincent.” His answer got the other one silenced. She did not say anything, only staring at that pair of amber eyes like she was trying to read his mind. And of course, Thada did not avoid her eyes. Instead, he was smiling at Maysa. It was not sure if he just did not mind her, or that he had a vantage point over her.

“What about Vincent?” She asked slowly.

“Nothing, really. I’m just curious why he has to cover up his identity, even when he did not do anything wrong. In fact, he is a very skilled man. It can be said that his play is remarkable. And I want to know why he is hiding.”

Maysa let out a chuckle before she replied with a high-pitch tone, sounding like she was mocking the young GM so badly.

“We all have something we don’t want to share, Mister GM. Also, since when was covering one’s face and name from other players against any of the game’s rules? Or the GMs have the right to violate the players’ privacy now?”

Thada did not reply with anything but smiled, because he knew that she was trying to agitate him.

“Of course not. We don’t have any rights to do such things.”

“Is that so?” She drawled. “Then, for the question you asked me, I don’t need to answer it, right?”

“No, you don’t need to.”

“Great. Then we should get back to the topic of the prizes. I don’t have all day. Also, I don’t want to hate... sorry, I mean, I don’t want to waste your precious time anymore.” Her fair face appeared with a satisfied smile when she got the chance to nag the other.

However, his pretty, sculptured face remained calm as before. There was even a thin smile on it like he was enjoying the insults from the one sitting across from him.

“Alright then, let’s get back to the topic.”

"Great!" She smiled broadly, feeling a victory in her hand.

Her expression made Thada smile at her kindly as he was bringing out his screen to start reading the information on it.

“Player Maysa has won the first place in the event, ‘Get the shot if you dare!’ The prize includes 1 million coins, a rank S item, and the Lanova bike that has yet to be sold on the market.”

“That sounds right,” the clear voice said delightedly, feeling glad that finally, the man got to the point.

“Okay, in the evening, prepare to receive your prize at the city central dome. The ceremony starts at 6 p.m. Please don’t be late, because the others will get bored of waiting.” After he finished, the overjoy she was having was completely gone. Her wide smile was shut immediately.

“The ceremony ...what?”

“You don’t know?” Thada retorted. His pretty eyes were sparkling with a challenge. “It’s the formality to honor the winners from the events. It’ll be held at the city central dome, in front of more than eighty thousand players.”

“I know what ceremony means!” Maysa yelled. “I mean, why do you have to make a fuss about it? Just a normal receiving is honorable enough, why...”

“Well, these are ones of the Pride’s grand events. It wouldn’t be appropriate to celebrate with a small party, right?” the man said with a smile as he was closing his window.

“Also, the ceremony is for awarding the player who defeated Lord Inferno, too. You can say that this one is actually the highlight of the events.” His plain tone of words made Maysa pause as she could guess what Thada was planning to do.

He was purposely throwing a grandiose award ceremony just to force Wisana to reveal himself, using the prize as a lure.

“I don’t think Vincent’s coming,” she tried to change his mind calmly. “But I do think that you shouldn’t be troubled with all this ceremony thing.”

“I guess it’s already too late. I just made the announcement, the details, and the invitation just a few moments before you arrived at our office,” Thada said with a smile. “Also, I need to tell you that there can’t be a substitutionary. If Vincent doesn’t show up, we’ll take it as he disclaims his right to the prize.” The conditions got Maysa stunned. She did not say anything back. She was not smiling while she was staring at him in the eyes.

She could see clearly that this man was trying to get Wisana to reveal himself, and he did not care how. Huh? But did he really think that the prize would get Wisana’s attention?

Everyone who believed this had to be so stupid.

“Whatever suits you then, Mister Thada.” Maysa gave him a wide smirk before she finally got up.

“Are you leaving now? Then don’t forget to invite your friend to the ceremony, too, because I really want to meet him.”

She did not say anything to that, only clenching her jaws as she was annoyed. She could think of many burning insults for him, but judging from his manners, this guy was totally not the type she should be messing with. The way he talked and his gestures were disguised with a scary aura. It would not be anything good if she pissed him off.

“I suggest you don’t put your expectations too high,” she said as the last thing to him and the man just tilted his head in acknowledgment. Then the girl turned, starting to walk away.

“Oh, I forgot to tell you something, Miss Maysa.” His words made her stop. The pair of grey eyes glanced back at him.

“Yes?”
