Chapter 62: Entice the Tiger to Leave its Lair (1) Part II
“Na, could you set up the computer for me, please?” Her request got the consciousness back to him again. The man nodded rapidly as a confirmation.
Then their unpacking work continued for the next three hours. Wisana had to admit that her appliances were too many. Her moving boxes were even more than the stuff he had here for many years.
In just one day, that plain bedroom was renovated into a colorful room now. Waree changed the dull old white curtains to a lively bright orange. As well as the bed sheet and the pillowcases that were full of cute cartoon prints on them.
Apart from that, the room was already full of stuffed characters that came in different species, colors, and sizes. Not only just in her room, but Waree also put the new decorations in the living room, too, including, a lamp, tiny ceramic dolls, pretty picture frames, a carpet, and some small plants.
So, it took just the blink of an eye for her to turn Wisana’s condo into something that could easily be mistaken for a place for some newly married couples. The owner of the condo could only take a gulp.
If Tun saw his room like this, Wisana would get bullied for a very long time.
“(Sigh) It’s all done, Na. Finally.” Waree just walked out of the bathroom after she placed her toothbrush next to her brother’s. She smiled sweetly at him, who was standing speechlessly in the middle of the living room.
“So, we actually live together now,” she said, sounding like she was in a good mood. “Thank you for having me under your care.” she finished and then she curtsied down jokingly. Her fair face appeared with a playful smile, making the older one blink as he was forcing a wry smile. Because her words sounded so awkwardly misleading that Wisana did not know what to say in response.
“Y ...yeah, you’re welcome.”
“Oh no, I really got carried away by those decorations. It’s 6 p.m. already?” Wisana’s golden-brown eyes glanced at the clock on the wall and saw the hour hand was pointing at number six, just like she said.
“Crap. I haven’t prepared dinner, yet.”
“It’s okay!” Waree shouted diligently. “I’ll volunteer to make dinner tonight. Is there any specific menu you want to eat?” The question got Wisana raised his eyebrows, thinking that even for breakfast, she just cooked the instant porridge for him. And now that she was volunteering to make dinner, too?
He would not think this would be good for his stomach...
“No. It’s okay. I’ll do it. You must be exhausted from moving in all day already,” Wisana tried to convince her, because he really did not trust her cooking skills that much.
Well, even the instant porridge that was nothing harder than just adding hot water, she still managed to make it taste strange somehow.
He just went along and said it tasted good because he did not want to make her sad!
“Why wouldn’t you let me do it? Do you not trust me?!”
“Yes, I do!” Wisana started waving left to right. “I just want you to rest. That’s all.”
“Whatever. I’ll do it anyway. Today is my duty to cook.”
"Duty to cook? What duty? Since when did we have that?”
His confusion made Waree grin widely. Her slender hand grabbed a piece of paper from her pocket and handed it to the man.
“Last night I made our duty schedule, so it’s easier to take care of the condo.”
He did not say anything and just unfolded the paper in his hand to read. And it was right as the sister said, today was her cooking duty. The smooth face looked up slowly, then he forced a sour smile at her.
“Then, I’ll go preparing dinner.”
Pick me up please, pick me up please!
But Waree paused before she could go anywhere because her phone was ringing in her pocket. Wisana glanced at her with a strange look.
“Well, it’s my phone. Excuse me for a moment,” she said, then she disappeared into her bedroom. And Wisana just let out a chuckle softly.
So, he thought he was the only one who used this goofy ringtone. Maybe she was like him more than he thought. He let out a long sigh, throwing himself on the couch. And then he had better try to figure out a way out of this duty schedule.
This was thoughtful for her, but for what?
Especially the cooking duty that he really could not stand. She only scheduled him to cook just two days a week, and she took the rest. His stomach would be sickening all year, if he let this happen.
“I’m not sure if this place will become heaven, or hell anymore,” he said with a sigh. “It seems to become heaven when there’s a little angel around. But it looks like hell to eat the angel’s cooking meals. Maybe I should go get some antacid to spare here.” Wisana made a cautious plan as he was thinking about the other thing.
He should not let Tunwa visit here for a while. He really was not in the mood to be made fun of!!
“Brother, I am so sorry!” A few moments later, Waree came back from her room with a panicked look on her face.
“What’s wrong?”
“Well, I kind of just got an urgent call from the game. So, I guess that we can’t have dinner together tonight.”
“The game?” Wisana raised his eyebrows.
“The Pride game. My friend just called me and said there was some emergency, and that I had to log in to the game now. So, please don’t be mad that I can’t cook dinner for you.”
He was actually being so glad, girl!
The man was applauding in his mind, but he had to fake a sorry face just to be polite to her cooking.
“Is that so? Well, it’s okay though. You should hurry to your friend.”
“I’m really sorry, Na.”
“It’s fine, really. You better go.” Wisana waved her off. And Waree looked a bit sad before she turned to her bedroom. Right after the sound of the door shut, the man punched the air rejoicefully.
Thank God!
The angel was called back to heaven just in time, that was why he could avoid hell today!!
“That was close.”
Someone’s calling, pick it up, please, someone’s calling, pick it up, please!
He did not celebrate for too long before his phone rang, too. The tall one paused before taking out the phone from his pocket. He raised his eyebrows when he saw a stranger’s number showing on the screen. But he slid to answer anyway.
“Hello, Wisana’s speaking.”
“Wisana! It’s me!” The melodious voice spoke, Wisana narrowed his eyes as he was trying to recognize it.
“Me who?”
“It’s May! Can’t you recognize my voice?”
“Oh, hi May,” Wisana yelled. “What’s up? I’ll be online in just a bit. Let me eat some dinner first.”
“Forget your dinner, moron! Log in to the game, now! Something is happening!” Maysa said, sounding more anxious than she ever was. Wisana’s brows knitted.
“What’s happening?” Wisana started to get anxious, too. Because most of the time, Maysa would stay calm (except for when she was with Manoch). It was very unusual for her to be freaking out like this.
“I’ll tell you later, just log in to the game now. I’ll be waiting for you at the hotel in Tristan, room 307, the password is Vincent, same as before.”
“Are you already in the game? How are you calling on my phone?” Wisana asked confusedly.
“Currently, the time inside, and outside the game are the same, because it just updated a new patch. But don’t worry, the game time will go past real time eventually. Stop with the questions, and get in here already.”
“Got it. I’ll be right there.”
