Chapter 64: Entice the Tiger to Leave its Lair (1) Part IV
“Oh, I forgot to tell you something, Miss Maysa.” His words made her stop. The pair of grey eyes glanced back at him.
“Yes?”
“The Pride has launched a new patch now. May I ask if you noticed that your P.M. was installing the new patch when you were logging in?” Maysa narrowed her eyes a little when she recalled that the P.M. actually had installed a new patch when she got in the game.
“And what about it?”
“I just want to introduce the newest system in the game to you. The patch is called ‘Player Hunter,’ I invented it myself.”
The gunner girl’s eyebrows were knitted a little while she was studying the expression of the one who was leaning back against the backrest of the sofa casually like he was talking about the weather.
Unlike her, who now pressed her lips tightly together, not feeling impressed about this system’s name that this guy just told her.
“And why are you telling me this?” She chuckled.
“Because I want to warn you,” Thada said before his lips curled up into a smile. “I invented this system to help lighten GMs’ workload by having the players do some of the work for us.”
Maysa still did not follow what he was saying.
“Well, to exemplify, if a player does something against the game’s rules, the system will put up a bounty for the player. Then they will become a side quest for the other players to farm some coins and EXPs by turning them over to the GMs. Also, we will accept the player with any conditions, dead or alive!” The last part of the sentence was stressed more than usual, making the girl flinch.
Maysa then understood what the man was trying to tell her. The small fists were unconsciously clenched with anger, while she was cursing continuously in her mind, furiously.
This man was so cunning for making the system just to specifically use it against Wisana!
“And then what’s next?” She was just asking with a smile, even though she knew so well what the other would say next.
“Like I said, I just wanted to warn you. What if there was a player who covered up his face and name, even though he didn’t do anything wrong? Apart from that, he’d been hiding from the public eyes after killing the toughest boss incredibly in just 18 minutes, causing 47 bugs in the system. So, let me ask you, what would this make the other players think of him?”
“...I don’t know.”
“You don’t?” Thada said slowly before he crossed his leg carefreely. “Well, I’d think that maybe the player used a cheating program or hacked the system to be able to play like that.” Hearing this, she made a chuckle in her throat, looking away like she could not stand looking at this tricky man any longer.
“So, it means that you’ll put a bounty on the player and have the others hunt him down for you? Don’t you think that maybe no one would be able to find him anywhere at all?” The straightforward question made the man snap his fingers with satisfaction.
“I knew that you would see the weakness of the system! But don’t worry about that. We have already prepared the system support. For the players who are being marked on, we’ll have a navigator leading to their locations, and many more supporting skills. Trust me, if there’s a bounty on their head, hundreds of the players would be targeting that player for sure.” Thada stressed on the words, ‘that player’ so purposely that Maysa cursed in her throat.
“What a disgusting system.” She said with a cold voice.
“It’s a labor-saving system for the GMs. The players that help will also get paid, too. So, I’d like you to look at it as a greatly fair system.”
“No, that’s why I said it was disgusting!” Finishing her sentence, she turned away, walking out the door without saying goodbye to be polite. Thada laughed behind her back, amused by her dissatisfaction. It looked like he had succeeded in getting on her nerves now.
So, he decided it was time to wreck them some more.
“I’ll be waiting in the evening, Miss Maysa, for you and your friend to come to claim your prize.”
Maysa stopped at the office door. She was standing still, not even looking back at the tricky man who was smiling from behind her. She clenched her fists, pissed off before she replied stiffly.
“Yeah, I’ll be waiting until then, too.” Then she slammed the door shut with a loud sound, making Thada burst out laughing at her bad attitude.
“(Sigh) A sharp tongue, and a pain in the neck huh, this Maysa. I wonder what face she’d be making when the evening comes.”
----------------
“ARRRRGH!! What a sly fox!” Maysa, who just left the GM office, screamed out loud, not minding those who were looking at her weirdly. Her feet were stomping on the ground like a child would do as if it could vent her anger down.
In her mind, the pretty face of the GM popped up, looking cold before it turned out to be a mocking smile and an annoying laugh. She was so pissed that the guy was such a sassy cunning type that he managed to get on every single one of her nerves!
“‘I’ll be waiting in the evening, Miss Maysa,” she mocked him, then stuck her tongue out in disgust. “I wanna throw up! Who would want to meet you? Definitely not me, creep!”
She was very glad that she won the first prize, then she regretted it immediately, right after Thada had spoken the first word to her. And he just threatened to mark a bounty on Wisana, if he did not show up this evening. And that was not good, since the name Vincent was currently on everyone’s attention!
This was bad. She needed to hurry to the hotel to meet up with Wisana and figure out how to deal with this!
The more she thought about it, the more she was raging against that guy. Why was he so annoying?! This was why she hated snooty men!!!
THUD!!
“Ugh!”
“Ow!’ She was raging until she bumped into someone. The small figure fell to the ground with a classic butt hurt, making her caress the pain away.
She was already in a bad mood. Now, who was the one knocking her down on the ground?!
“What’s up with you, girl? I’m in a hurry right now!” The gunner bawled angrily.
“I’m very sorry. I was in a hurry too, so I didn’t look,” the litigant replied in a withered voice, but Maysa did not care. She got up, brushing the dust off her. Then she said to herself,
“Today sucks!”
“I am really sorry, Miss ...Maysa!” The calling started to sound familiar to her ears now. So, she could not help but turn to it, before the pair of grey eyes went wider when she could see the other one fully.
She was a pretty teenager. Her long black hair was layered down her face, looking real cute. She had seen her only once, but she could recognize her immediately.
“Warunya!”
