Waree looked him in the eye for a second and drooped.

“And that Lucius guy, too.” She said. “I don’t know if Na will be able to take him down. You know how good he is from Mr. Sander.”

Shin did not reply. He glanced the other way and thought about it. Sander had said that Lucius was equal to Baron, or maybe better. And that was old information before he became the Core of Pride.

That man had been in this endless imagination for centuries. He was also worried that Lucius would have improved so much over the years.

Waree said so softly it was more like a whisper.

“Waree...” Shin said gently.

“Pride is important to me.” Her hands on the mug trembled. “It’s my life. I’ve been growing up with it. It gives me so many things, be it great moments with my family and you guys.”

She turned to look Shin in the eye. Her eyes were shaken. This was the first time that Shin had seen Waree so weak. She drooped and trembled a little.

Her voice became hoarse. She turned the other way and took a deep breath.

Shin felt embarrassed to be looked at like that. He tried to avoid her gaze and murmured.

It seemed like he was a bit disheartened. Waree giggled even louder.

The girl cuffed the man’s face and forced him to turn back to her.

“You’re doing very well, Shin. It’s cute.” She tilted her head. “To make it even better, you know at times like these, women need a strong shelter.”

Shin was still quiet. He looked into her shiny eyes.

“You have to give her a tight hug to make her feel better. Sometimes girls want boys to initiate, you know?”

She finally thought that she should stop the teasing. Waree closed her eyes and sighed.

Her voice faded away as she was pulled into a warm embrace. One of his big hands gently stroked her back, while the other was on her head, pushing it onto his strong chest.

“I know,” Waree said. “Your heart beats so fast.”

Hearing that, Shin’s face became so red. The woman’s small hands hugged him back. She buried her face in his chest and smiled.

Waree giggled. “Thank you.”
