Chapter 627: Back to The Battlefield Part V

Chapter 627: Back to The Battlefield Part V

“I think Baron sees something in him. That’s why she’s confident that he’s the key to win this war.”

Waree looked him in the eye for a second and drooped.

“And that Lucius guy, too.” She said. “I don’t know if Na will be able to take him down. You know how good he is from Mr. Sander.”

Shin did not reply. He glanced the other way and thought about it. Sander had said that Lucius was equal to Baron, or maybe better. And that was old information before he became the Core of Pride.

That man had been in this endless imagination for centuries. He was also worried that Lucius would have improved so much over the years.

“What if we lost...”

Waree said so softly it was more like a whisper.

“Waree...” Shin said gently.

“Pride is important to me.” Her hands on the mug trembled. “It’s my life. I’ve been growing up with it. It gives me so many things, be it great moments with my family and you guys.”

She turned to look Shin in the eye. Her eyes were shaken. This was the first time that Shin had seen Waree so weak. She drooped and trembled a little.

“I don’t know what I’d do if this world’s gone.”

Her voice became hoarse. She turned the other way and took a deep breath.

Shin looked at her with surprise because he had never seen her like this before. Before he realized it, he jumped down from the rail and looked at her trembling body. His heart ached just seeing her like this. His rough hands softly grabbed her shoulders.

Waree was not weak. Talking like this meant that she was at her limit.

They looked each other in the eye for some time. Shin squeezed her shoulders tighter.

“Do you trust me?”

Waree halted.

“I’m not that confident to say that I’d be able to finish everything like how Vincent would. But I promise that I’ll do everything in my power to protect what you love.”

It might not sound pretty, but it came from his heart. The girl seemed a little surprised. The man’s face was so stressful that it was a little scary. Waree blinked while looking at his face. In the end, she could only...

“Hahahahaha...”

She covered her mouth and turned the other way. The man’s face flushed red. He let go of her shoulders. His actions even made it funnier for Waree.

“I... I’m sorry. I didn’t...”

Shin tried to explain. He had never done anything so silly in his life. And the girl was laughing at him... This was humiliating!

Waree walked closer to him. Both of her hands touched his strong chest. The sweet fragrance was even more clear to him.

“It’s me who has to apologize,” Waree said softly. “I’m sorry that I laughed. You looked so cute that I couldn’t help it.”

“H... Huh? Cute?” Shin raised his eyebrow. His voice was shaky.

Waree smiled even wider. He was really cute. He was like a boy who tried to hit on the girl he loved.

“Umm...Well...”

“Thank you.” Waree cut the conversation short. “Thank you for always being by my side.”

She looked Shin in the eye.

Her face flushed red. Her smile was the cutest one. The man swallowed a big gulp of his saliva. He did not know what was happening, but the more he looked at her, the more beautiful she was!

Shin felt embarrassed to be looked at like that. He tried to avoid her gaze and murmured.

“You didn’t have to laugh. You know I’m not good with words.”

It seemed like he was a bit disheartened. Waree giggled even louder.

The girl cuffed the man’s face and forced him to turn back to her.

“You’re doing very well, Shin. It’s cute.” She tilted her head. “To make it even better, you know at times like these, women need a strong shelter.”

“...”

Shin was still quiet. He looked into her shiny eyes.

“You have to give her a tight hug to make her feel better. Sometimes girls want boys to initiate, you know?”

“Hug?!”

Shin slipped. His lavender eyes widened. Waree smiled sweetly at him. Even though it looked a little mischievous, it was so adorable!

The man clearly hesitated, while the lady was still smiling as if everything was normal. He was not sure if she was joking or not. If this was a boxing ring, she was totally a pro boxer. The man was pushed into the corner like a newbie.

He slowly raised his hands up. He acted like he was about to grab something, but he did not dare to. Waree observed him and secretly giggled. Maybe she went too far this time. He was totally not used to things like this. She did not blame him. She liked it. It made him look even cuter.

She finally thought that she should stop the teasing. Waree closed her eyes and sighed.

“I’m jok...ing...”

Her voice faded away as she was pulled into a warm embrace. One of his big hands gently stroked her back, while the other was on her head, pushing it onto his strong chest.

“But I’m not.”

The man whispered into her ear. The girl’s face flushed red for the first time. She was in shock that she went quiet for a while. Eventually, she let out a laugh again. Shin sighed.

“Don’t laugh too much. I’m embarrassed.”

“I know,” Waree said. “Your heart beats so fast.”

Hearing that, Shin’s face became so red. The woman’s small hands hugged him back. She buried her face in his chest and smiled.

“So now I can relax?”

“...Maybe”

Waree giggled. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.”

“And I was wondering where they were. It turns out they’re having fun alone. What a girl, Nam.”

“Hmph, Shin, too. What did he say just now? ‘I’ll protect you’? So dramatic.”

“Shush, Ae, or they’ll hear you.”

“I’m sorry I can’t help it.”

“Quiet, both of you!”

“Ehh, why didn’t I know about this? Shin and Nam have a thing for each other, Angie?”

“Mhmm.”

The whispers came from a lot of people behind the door to the roof. They wanted to see since the scene in front of them was a rare sight.

“Wait, let me jot this down, so I can borrow it to hit on a girl next time.”

Manoch pulled his head back inside and called up his screen as if he was really making a note.

“What the heck are you doing, Ae? I’ve already recorded everything.”

Another man pulled himself back inside. Tunwa opened his recording screen and showed him. The quality of the recording was that of a professional.

“Do you trust me?”

The sound and Shindanai’s serious face were so clear.

“This is freaking cool!” Manoch laughed. “Let me have a copy of this. This is going to be the main topic of laughter for eternity.”

“Of course!” Tunwa raised his thumb.

“Knock it off, you guys.”

It was Maysa who snatched the screen away from them and confiscated it. The boys whined.

“Aww, May~!”

“Stop whining. This isn’t funny and they won’t find this funny, either.”
