Chapter 626: Back to The Battlefield Part IV

Chapter 626: Back to The Battlefield Part IV

“It’s you that drains me before the real fight. Let me tell you this. I’ve been fighting enemies stronger than me my whole life. It’s not like I haven’t fought an invincible before. I was kicked in the gut every day when I was younger by one.”

Hearing that, Baron turned the other way and smiled secretly. The boy did not seem to know that the invincible he was talking about was standing right in front of him!

“That’s good to know,” Baron said. “Thinking that you’re a challenger makes you feel less pressured. Going out there without a way to win is suicidal. I won’t let you do that, understood?”

The man tilted his head, wondering what she was implying.

“Don’t make that confused face. I just want to say that this is going to be your last lesson, boy.” She smiled. “I’ve taught you everything, be it the Signetic control, the vision, the movements, and, above all, you’ve gained so many levels that’ll make you one of the most fearful monsters in Pride.”

She took out a rope and put her hair up in a ponytail. She was about to go into a fighting mode again. Wisana smiled nervously.

The last lesson...

It must be the toughest one.

“I’ll teach you everything that I’ve researched my whole life within the last three days, so that you can handle Lucius, Vincent. I’ll make sure you have the finishing blow for that son of a bitch.”

That was the most mischievous smile Wisana had ever seen from her.

“What do you mean, the finishing blow?” Wisana asked.

“You didn’t have to ask, brat. It’s a new final blow for you to use on Lucius. Something to take down the invincible monster!”

Time passed so fast like flipping pages. The sky turned pitch-black again. The stars at night were as beautiful as the ones in the drawing. The cool breeze blew past the man who was sitting on the metal rail on the roof of the ship. It seemed like the repair on the outside had been done nicely and only the inside was left.

His lavender eyes had been staring up at the sky as if he was thinking about something. After the long meeting that Sander led, Shindanai excused himself and came here alone, while everyone was talking about the plan during dinner.

The next moment, the metal door was opened and a small figure of a golden-brown-haired girl walked in with two hot ceramic mugs in her hand.

“As expected of you to be here.”

She said with a smile. The man smiled back at her. Waree was in a casual white shirt without the uniform.

“Why are you out here alone? Aren’t you hungry? Everyone’s talking about the war in the dining room.”

“It’s okay. I want to be alone...” He, then, looked up at the sky again. “There’s a lot that I want to think about. I hope you don’t mind.”

“I thought you were going to say this.”

Waree giggled and offered him the ceramic mug. It was a hot cocoa that smelled so good that the man smiled.

“You should drink this, so you won’t get hungry at night.”

“Thank you.”

“You’re always alone when you have something to think about. Do answers pop up when you’re alone?”

The man received the cocoa mug and sighed.

“I’m used to talking to myself. You know I’m not good at making conversations.”

Waree tried to suppress her laughter. She thought that it was funny that he criticized himself like that. She reached out to the metal rail and glanced at the man with a cute smile.

“But you’re not alone anymore, Shin,” Waree said. “You can talk to me if you want to vent out. We have to be a team in this war anyway. These small matters will make us stronger. Look at Na and May. They’re invincible because they trust each other.”

Shin chuckled.

“I thought they were invincible because they were monsters.”

The girl laughed and moved her face closer to the quiet man. The sweet smell that was not from the cocoa prompted the man to turn away. It was not like he did not like it. It was more like he felt so hot in the face!

“Well? Will you tell me what the great warrior Shin is thinking about?”

Shin glanced at her and let out a long sigh.

Damn, he would always lose to this girl.

“I’m thinking about the Bunny Burner.”

The girl raised her eyebrow in surprise. She totally forgot that Shin’s older sister was one of the four gods and she was in the Bunny Burner!

“What about it?” She asked.

“I wonder if they’ll join the war.” He sighed. “After Sven and Maysa announced that we’ll be joining, only Lavi and Marcus said clearly that they will, too. Rak hasn’t talked about it at all.”

“And you do want them to?”

Waree asked. Shin turned to her and smiled slightly.

“To tell you the truth, I don’t want them to.”

Shin went quiet. Waree smiled slightly at him. She was not surprised to hear that. He might not show that he cared, but he was actually pretty sensitive (he was just not good at showing it).

“I think there’s more to this war than what Baron’s told us.” Shin continued. He was so determined that Waree could feel it. “I don’t want Rak to risk her life. I know she’s good and wise, but it’s not like she doesn’t have any weak points. She doesn’t know what’s behind it, so it’s better for her to not get involved at all.”

He sighed. Waree smiled before she leaned against the metal rail and stretched.

“To be honest, I think Ms. Valentine thinks the same.” She smiled at him, and Shin halted. “If she knows that her brother would risk his life for it, she wouldn’t be able to leave it like that either. You’re her beloved brother.”

She beamed at him, revealing her white teeth.

It was the kind of smile that got Shin’s heart pounding every time he saw it.

Shin chuckled softly before he sighed.

“You’re right. Rak is pretty troublesome.” He smiled.

“Yes, just like my big brother.”

Waree giggled and Shin could not help but smile. He sipped the cocoa in his hand. The sweetness and heat warmed his body. Or maybe it was this girl that made him so relaxed.

“I wonder how Na is doing now.”

Waree said, both of her hands intertwined on the mug at her chest. Those beautiful eyes shone with a little worry that Shin chuckled softly.

“Don’t worry. He’s gone through the dragon’s den before.” Shin laughed.

“I know he doesn’t look it, but he’s a human being, too, you know?” Waree sulked. “And not just Na, I’m worried about Ms. Baron, too.”

“Baron?” Shin raised his eyebrow a little.

“Why does she have to train him so hard in private? It’s like he’ll have to risk his life alone afterwards.”

Shin chuckled softly.

“The more powerful you are, the more responsibility you bear.” He smiled. “I think Baron sees something in him. That’s why she’s confident that he’s the key to win this war.”
