Chapter 60: Sister is Scary! Part IV

Chapter 60: Sister is Scary! Part IV

“If you still insist, I won’t stop you. But remember, you’re not the only one aiming at that Vincent guy anyway.”

Hearing his friend, he nodded in agreement.

“At least your beloved Marcus is one of them, too. Right, Anne?”

“Not funny, Da.”

She came back with a cold, moody voice. The act that got the teaser burst into a laugh.

“It’s fine.” Thada shrugged. “The one I got my eyes on will never lose just to that noob Marcus. He can improve a lot more. And I think he would even surpass that beast.”

The girl let out a chuckle before she got up.

“If he can surpass that beast, does it mean that he can also surpass you? You and the beast tied in the fight, remember?”

The retort made the other one shake his head, laughing.

“That’s just what I want. The tougher the enemies are, the more fun it gets.”

“You look so confident about this guy.”

“Definitely. I know because he and I are the same kind of person.”

A small smile appeared on her pretty face at that statement. Then she decided to ignore the man before she walked to a small refrigerator in a corner of the room for something to drink.

“Well, Da, where’s Ton?”

“In the photo room, choosing the winner of the photo event.”

He answered as he was pointing to a door next to them.

“What? The photos have been sent to him since yesterday, but he has still not decided on the winner?” Rattana said with a scolding tone while she opened the soda can with a loud POP!

“Cut him some slack, Anne. He’s been occupied days and nights already. He doesn’t even have time to log off to eat.”

“I haven’t eaten, either. It’s only you who always sneaks out by yourself.”

“Wait, what? I didn’t do that. I’ve been so busy working here that I’m about to cough the blood out in letters now.”

“Yeah? Well, speaking of eating, I’m kind of hungry now. I wonder what today’s menu Aunty Dang has for us in the cafeteria.”

“She has stir-fried catfish with chili paste today, and it is so, so good!”

He said as he was giving a thumbs-up, smiling so widely. Before he realized that was just a trick question. So, Thada stuck his tongue out, slicking his hair back, pretending he was not embarrassed about getting caught. The other one just shook her head at that, tiredly.

“Man. I really can’t catch up with your moods, Thada. You can be scary serious, and the next second you become so goofy like a child. Sometimes you look like you’re losing your nuts like a psychopath...”

She stopped there before she held a hand to cover her mouth, drawing attention from the other to look at her.

“What’d you say?”

“Nothing, really. Just keep working on your job.”

She cut him off before turning in the opposite direction of him just like that. Thada was left there, looking at her with confusion, but eventually, he agreed to let this go and continued to type on his screen again.

Rattana secretly let out a sigh of relief. She was glad that the man in front of her was just a dummy in the shell of a genius.

“And how are you gonna deal with the Vincent guy’s problem?”

The small voice changed the subject.

“What’s the problem?”

“...Didn’t you ever look up from your work? Now that many players started to complain about Vincent not coming out in public. There’re also some rumors saying that Vincent was the GMs’ favorite, or that he was some cheating player the Pride hired to increase the ratings.”

Thada sighed quietly, hand slicking his hair back, paying no mind to it.

“People talk, Anne. What do you want me to do?”

“That’s why I’m asking you to do something about it! You can’t just let the players protest like this!”

The complaint came from the one who was always calm, making the man take his eyes off work again. His pretty face got a bit tenser as he was considering it. Anne had a point. If he let Vincent play in the shadow like this, it would not be good for his new patch that he was about to launch, definitely.

SLAM!!

Suddenly, the photo room’s door was opened harshly, making the two of them jump, before they turned to look at the sound right away.

A skinny figure walked out of the room exhaustedly. He looked like he was in his early 20s, and pissed off as he was messing with his hair. But what was more concerning than his mood was those dark circles under his eyes that looked almost as dark as the bamboo-eater bear now.

He walked straight up to Thada, then he slammed those heavy folders on the small table in front of the couch.

“The work is done!”

He announced before he collapsed on his back on the floor.

The two seniors flinched, getting up to check on the boy in no time.

“Are you okay, Ton? Hey!” Thada cried out.

A moment later Rattana put her hand under his nose before she let out a long sigh.

“It’s alright. He’s just sleeping.”

“Whoa, work hard, die fast, huh? Is he aiming for this year’s best GM award, or what?”

Thada teased with a delighted voice as he was looking down at the messy-haired boy who started snoring. Seeing him just standing there, the other girl had to carry the passed-out boy on the couch helplessly by herself.

“How are you still talking nonsense like this? Don’t you worry about him?”

“Why would I? He’s going to get his bonus on the paycheck for his hard work anyway.”

The casual retorting got him a sharp, dead gaze, making the smiley one shut his mouth up immediately. The tall man cleared his throat before he picked up one of the folders to check with a serious face. Then his golden-brown eyes widened with shock before a scary smirk appeared on his face.

This folder had a collection of the photos from the event ‘Get the shot if you dare!’ So, it was full of various scenes from the hunting of Lord Inferno quest that Ton had selected the best ones for giving the prizes already. And when Thada saw the first-place winner, he let out a chuckle.

“Anne.”

“Yeah?”

“I think I can get that Vincent guy to come out of the shadows now.”

She raised her eyebrows.

“How?”

“Let’s just say I have a plan.”

His deep voice said before he got back to his desk with a good mood on his face.

On his desk, there was a photo of the massive dragon lying on the ground and the half-masked man. His face was blurry with the casting shadow from the bright blazing flame wings on his back. The mysterious man was stepping on the body of the breathless Lord Inferno like he wanted to announce his victory to the world.

Under the photo, there was a title, written ‘Who’s the monster?’

And the photographer was named,

Maysa.
