Chapter 59: Sister is Scary! Part III

Chapter 59: Sister is Scary! Part III

The over-exaggerated descriptions made Waree let out a chuckle before she slapped his arm softly.

“Stop being extra. Seriously, does it taste good?”

“Of course, it does. Well, how would the meal my sister cooks be bad, right?”

“Right. Your sister is one of those genius cooks. Everyone I cook for in the U.S. was always impressed.”

“Yeah? But it tastes kind of familiar, like the instant one in the cabinet.”

The comment came with a chuckle, making the cook pause. Her cheeks reddened uncontrollably. And Wisana burst out with a laugh at how his guess was right. Why would he not know? He always cooked for himself, too.

“You knew?”

“Aw, did I make the genius cook lose her self-esteem?” He teased her. “I’m kidding. Homemade or instant, it tastes good, because of how you cook it anyway.”

“...”

Waree was speechless. She turned her blushing face away, embarrassed.

“Come on. It’s delicious. I like it.”

“You do?” Her big round eyes turned back to look at him with a little expectation.

“Yeah. Even though how you cooked it was just adding hot water to it, still.”

“Na!”

Getting teased too much, the sister just could not stand it anymore. So, she slapped her brother’s arm, while the other was laughing, satisfied that he could successfully annoy her.

Well, it was not that bad having another sister like her.

----------------

The pair of beautiful brown eyes were looking through the letters. Many lines and pages had passed while his fingers continued to type on the keyboard with a steady rhythm.

Thada, the pretty and young GM let out a quiet sigh, feeling so bored that he had to work here at the GM office in Tristan by himself. The tall figure was sitting comfortably on the light green couch, drinking his orange juice before he sighed heavily.

What was this amount of workload, though? Why would the head office not hire more GMs to help? This was such labor exploitation!

“How was it, Thada? Did you finish with your work?”

The familiar monotone voice came, drawing Thada’s attention to it. He paused the work on his hand and turned to look at his colleague carrying those heavy folders into the room. Then he let out a thin smile.

“Almost. But Anne, these works are driving me crazy.”

He said as he was throwing the juice can in the bin under his desk.

“What about you? How’s it going?”

Rattana flipped her hair to the back before she threw the folders on the table with a loud SLAM!

“Just finished it.”

She said tiredly as she was grabbing a rubber band to tie her hair up in a ponytail like usual.

“I ran the analysis test on that Vincent fight. And I wouldn’t believe this guy. Do you think how many bugs were found in just a fight from him?”

“How many?” Thada asked, grinning.

“47! Damn it! He slipped through 47 loopholes in just one boss fight. That guy was incredible. What was he? A superman, or what.”

The other one did not reply with anything more than a chuckle before he continued to fill in the information on his screen quietly. And before he realized, the smaller one was already sitting next to him. Her fair face leaned in to look at his work in an emotionless manner.

“You’ve made huge progress.” She said plainly.

“Yup. It’s 80% done now. I think I’ll finish it by 4 p.m. Then we’ll close the game for system maintenance and the update for about 2 hours. And the new patch will be ready by 6 p.m. today.”

Rattana curled up her lips like she was going to smile, but she decided to lean back on the couch instead.

“Why are you in such a rush to update this new patch? You know that it’s still incomplete. How about we take some more time, and let the developers help finish it, too? It’s not going to be too late, right?”

“Of course, it is.” Thada curled up a smile.

“What do you mean?”

“Pride is changing little by little. Don’t you notice, Anne?”

The other one raised her eyebrows in confusion. She looked at her GM friend and did not understand him until her eyes followed his bright brown eyes to where they were staring at. Then she understood what he was saying.

The picture Thada was looking at.

The half-masked man with the blazing flame wings on his back.

The mysterious man who defeated Lord Inferno within 18 minutes.

“So, it’s about this Vincent guy, huh?”

The man did not answer. He just shrugged a bit.

“I heard that the association of explorers hasn’t found anything about him until now.”

“Not surprised,” Thada said. “Even the GM like us can’t find anything about him either.”

“I don’t get it. What did the guy want?!” Rattana sighed. “He made a new damage record and killed the boss with just a three-member party. He was about to become Pride’s new hero, but why did he just choose to disappear from the public and cover up any information about himself? What a weirdo.”

“That’s why it’s interesting.”

The deep voice said casually, drawing the irritated eyes of her right away.

“You look a bit too happy, Thada.”

“Am I that obvious?” Thada let out a soft laugh.

“A reminder that even though the guy is interestingly good, the chance that you’d get to fight him is too low. Don’t forget that you’re not a player anymore. You’re a GM now, the head of the GM, even. Don’t do something stupid that will get you in trouble.”

“Don’t worry, Anne.”

The large hands stopped working for the first time. The pair of amber eyes glanced at her for a second, then they turned back to the picture in front of him with a burning spark. It was flashing in his eyes so brightly that the one who was always calm like Rattana gulped.

“I just find this guy interesting, that’s all. And the chance to fight him, let’s just leave it to fate.”

It was not very often that Thada would make the girl feel nervous like this.

Normally, this man was calm, almost like lazy, even. He was mostly mild and gentle, but when he found an excellent player that got the spark in those pretty eyes, it meant that the war lust demon in him had been triggered now!

Something similar had already happened, too.

It was when the event departure held a special tournament for players to challenge the GMs in a fight. And the one who got to fight Thada was another beast that he had marked from the start. The battle was continuing intensely, but it cost the whole town where the fight took place to be blown up. Yet, the final result of the fight was undecided.

Even though Thada wanted to finish the battle, the Pride’s board members would not let him. Because the man was the head of the GM, so he was like the guardian of the game as well. So, it would not look appropriate for him to go around, challenging other players into a fight.

Thada had been banned from players’ battling since then. And the passion in the man slowly died out little by little until today.

When the guy named Vincent appeared, his eyes started to have the spark of passion again.

“Alright.”

Rattana cut him short, getting Thada’s consciousness back in him again.

“If you still insist, I won’t stop you. But remember, you’re not the only one aiming at that Vincent guy anyway.”
