Chapter 538: A Night to Rest Part IV

Chapter 538: A Night to Rest Part IV

“That’s why I have to cover your back even more.”

Maysa cut the conversation short in her cheery voice. She smiled at him. Wisana could only smile back and sigh softly. He did not say anything while stroking her cheeks with his rough hands.

“We may have to deal with much more brutal wars. That’s why we need to rest as much as possible.” Maysa’s voice was so bright. “Right now, just leave everything behind for once. Rest and take it easy.”

Wisana chuckled softly.

“Maybe you’re right.” He said. “Everyone’s exhausted. Thinking about it now just makes it worse.”

“See?” Maysa smiled back at him.

Then, Maysa put her head on Wisana’s strong chest. Her facial expression still looked confused, especially with Wisana’s Signetic.

“...Na.” She muttered.

“Hmm?”

“I love you.”

Maysa spoke softly. Wisana blinked and smiled.

“No matter what you’ll become, I’ll still love you.”

“I’ll still be me. I can’t transform into something else.”

“Mmm...”

Maysa did not answer. She just hugged him even tighter. Wisana smiled and hugged her back. He pulled the blanket up on her.

“I love you. I love you the most, my jealous baby.”

“That’s not me.”

Wisana chuckled and stroked her head softly.

“This is sad,” Maysa said.

“What is it, beautiful?” He asked.

“Now I’m even more excited. I can’t sleep.”

Wisana laughed. He stroked her hair lovingly before letting her go. He glanced at the ceiling and snapped his fingers.

That was when the ceiling became transparent. They could now see everything outside. When the light of the night sky shone through, the grey eyes of the beautiful girl beside him looked up delightfully.

“So pretty.”

“The sky after the rain is always the best sky.” Wisana smiled. “Just like the atmosphere on the ship right now, maybe?”

“I guess.” Maysa turned to look at him.

“Since when I was in Chiang Mai, I loved looking at the stars when I felt tired.” He, then, looked up. “It always makes me feel at ease. It’s like they shine so brightly to show us a path. Every time I see it, I feel like I can do anything. Even the moon shines brightly every night, why can’t I smile every day too, right?”

Maysa smiled a little before resting her head on Wisana’s arm.

“Don’t say that to any other girl, okay?” She said.

“Why?” He asked, confused.

“Just don’t.”

Maysa pouted. Wisana could only smile and shake his head.

“This is cheating. Why is it only you with this kind of ceiling?” Maysa furrowed her forehead.

“The perk of being the guild leader, baby.” Wisana smiled. “If you want to see it, you have to come to this room.”

“That’s why it’s cheating.” Maysa still pouted.

Right after that, a bright light flashed from a small shooting star. They smiled at it.

“Sleepy?” Wisana asked.

“A little,” Maysa replied.

Hearing that, he smiled a little and sighed softly.

Fly me to the moon

and let me play among the stars.

He suddenly sang a song softly, yet it was strangely soothing and calm. Maysa raised her head up to look into her lover’s eyes. He gave her a warm smile and gently pushed her head down to his arm once again.

Maysa stared at the stars.

She smiled. She knew this song by heart.

But no one had ever sung it so well like this man before.

Let me see what spring is like

on Jupiter and Mars.

Among the silence, Waree was sitting on the floor at the end of the bed. Her face was so red. She was hugging a big pillow so tightly, frantically thinking about what to do next and if what she had done was the right thing...

Her heart pounded. Her small hand touched her rosy lips.

She looked out the window, seeing a big moon up in the sky. Then, she was wondering...

If he was seeing the same thing right now.

In other words, hold my hand

A tall figure was still standing on the deck. His calm face looked up at the gorgeous moon. He had already turned back into a boy again. But why was his heart still beating so fast unlike its usual pace? His lavender eyes blinked several times before he raised his rough hand up to touch his lips.

Stop drumming, my heart.

This was so not me.

Even though the sensation just now was the gentlest one I had ever experienced...

You needed to calm down, my heart.

In other words, darling, kiss me

“Look at them. They’re so weary and still doing nonsense.”

That complaint was from Warunya. She brought blankets for the two kids who passed out on the sofa in the living room. One was Kongkiat who was still holding a chess piece in his hand. Another was a little girl whose head rested on the boy’s shoulder. Both of them looked exhausted.

“Make your move, Kong.” The girl murmured.

“Yes, yes, Angie.” The boy replied back in his sleep.

Seeing that, Warunya chuckled and shook her head.

“These guys...”

Fill my heart with song,

and let me sing forevermore.

Inside the pitch-black room, the man was sitting in the corner with his stern face. His jade eyes stared out of the window, no smile in sight. Tunwa did not say anything ever since he walked into the room. He did not move an inch from his seat. His brain was trying to process everything that he had experienced.

Her smiles.

Her words.

And her gestures that she showed that man...

Tunwa let out a sigh and hoped that what he was thinking was only his imagination...

You are all I long for,

all I worship and adore.

The door swung open so quickly and Warunya walked into the bedroom. She looked around as if she was searching for someone whom she had been longing for. But the room was completely empty.

“Nuch?”

In other words, please be true

A tall man rested his head on his arms in bed. His face was calm. However, his ruby-red eyes glanced at the sky, and he was deep in thought. He did not smile at all. His eyes clearly showed anxiety.

Suddenly, the door was opened.

His crimson eyes glanced at the door and looked for his nighttime guest.

It was a small figure in her former uniform. He smiled gently.

“Wrong room, m’lady?” He asked. “You’re not my prisoner of war anymore.”

“I brought your food.”

Her low voice sounded blunt. Her pretty face reddened a little.

Sven smiled and looked at the food trays in her hands. There were two of them.

“I don’t eat that much, Nuchjaree.”

“This one’s mine.”

She offered one tray to Sven before dragging a chair close to sit with him without saying anything more. Sven watched her eat silently. He could only let out a long sigh and was about to dig in.

“I’m sorry.”

Suddenly, Nuchjaree spoke in her low voice. She lowered her face as if she felt guilty.

Her hands were halted. They were shaking.

Sven sighed and put his hand on her head.

“Just let it go.”

“But...” Nuchjaree looked up. Her face was full of worry.

Sven shook his head slowly. “Just let it go.”

He gave her a gentle smile when he said that. The kind that Nuchjaree found soothing every time she saw.

In other words, I love you

The light wind was blowing past the cliff at the sea. A man with long hair and a thin mustache around his lips was there. His rust-colored eyes looked down at the Alexander ship that was hiding below.

He sighed and gave out a gentle smile.

“No matter how hard your path may be in the future, please get the rest you deserve as much as you like now, kids.”

Sander spoke with a smile. He flung his robe up to cover his whole body. His face was the only thing that could be seen sticking out of his grey hoodie. He raised his hand up as if to say goodbye to the kids whom he had been travelling with for a long period of time.

“I’ll protect you. Don’t worry.”

He turned around and walked back. He looked at the small figure next to him. She was in the same robe as him. Her pale face seemed livelier when it touched the moonlight. Yet, her deep eye sockets still made her look as scary as ever.

“Let’s go, Lala. We have so much to do.” Sander said.

“Yes, master.”

In other words, please be true

In other words, I love you

Inside a quiet room, exhaustion finally tucked the couple in. Even in their sleep, they still held hands so tightly as if they did not want to let each other go anywhere.

“I love you,” Maysa murmured.

“I do, too.” Those words would stay in her heart forever.
