Chapter 536: A Night to Rest Part II
Chapter 536: A Night to Rest Part II
“Don’t you think it’s strange that there’re only 2-3 GMs for a massive game like Pride?”
“....”
Wisana did not answer. He could say that he had been thinking about that, too.
“That’s because the four gods act like GMs, Vincent.” Sven nodded. “Over 10% of the total players in Thailand are all our members. What we created is like a big root of an enormous tree. I can only say that this makes Pride stable and stronger. Now, what would happen if the four gods suddenly disappear?”
Wisana let out a long sigh. He bit his lip and turned to look elsewhere.
“They want to destroy everything from the root to the top. That’s what I know for sure. I’m not sure about the reason, though. I can only confirm that they want Pride to be wiped out.”
“And why do they target me?”
Wisana shot out the question that had been in his head for some time now.
And Jinnie, too. Why did they want her?
“Why you?” Sven asked back and laughed. “Building up legends and announcing before other players that they’re the legend of Pride, don’t you think that these are familiar, Vincent?”
“.....” Wisana shook his head.
“Viola.”
Sven said one of the four gods’ names. Wisana raised his eyebrows.
“What about her?” He asked.
“Viola was the first of the four gods who created the Dominion guild. Can you guess what she announced publicly back then, Vincent?” Wisana shook his head “I’ll be the legend of Pride. I’ll create the strongest guild in Pride’s history. The guild that everyone will know of.”
Sven looked scrutinizingly at Wisana. He smiled and tilted his head a little.
“I see her in you, Vincent.”
Wisana went quiet.
“You have the power that resembles that woman’s. Not only are you good with what you do, but you also have a strong influence that people have to turn their heads. They put their faith in you right away. ....You’re the “heart”, Vincent.”
“The heart?”
Wisana frowned so tightly. Somebody had said that to him once before.
“What do you mean?”
“You’ll understand eventually.” Sven brushed it off. “Just so you know, those people don’t want the second Viola. That’s why they want your head so much.”
Wisana sighed. Sven also looked mentally exhausted.
If what this guy had said was true, everything was definitely going crazy. The war was still in turmoil. And now these people. Maybe they were the same people who attacked Dores months ago.
Not maybe. They surely were.
Since he had already talked to Anne, the GM, that what happened to Lord Inferno did not seem to be the hunters’ doing. He got rid of them all. If it was them, everything should be gone with them, too.
“What are you going to do now?”
Wisana asked the man in front of him. Sven glanced back and let out a scoff.
“If you asked me now, I’d say I want to rest until I’m fully recovered.”
Sven did not hesitate to answer. Wisana sighed loudly.
“And you’re not going to tell the other gods?” Wisana asked.
“I don’t want to go anywhere.” Sven went back to thinking. “I think I’m being watched because I know parts of their plan. They should be careful. Maybe it’s good that you guys brought me here so that I can rest in the middle of this sacred crystal, where I’m surely safe since a demon like you and Shindanai are protecting it.”
“Mischievous.” Wisana flashed a big smile.
“Please take care of me, Mr. landlord.”
He put his hands together. Wisana saw through it that he only wanted to mess with him.
Knock Knock Knock
The knock on the door finally sounded. The two men turned to look at it. Sven smiled.
“Your chief of staff must have been worried sick about you. That’s enough for today, I guess.”
He cut the conversation short and lay down. Wisana could only look at him and shake his head. Who would have known that he would be able to adapt so soon? Was he actually a prisoner of war?
“Then, I’ll have someone bring you food. During this time, just be patient until we decide what to do with you.”
“Yes, sir.” Sven gave him a big smile.
“Goddamn it.”
Wisana muttered and walked away. Before he could even put his hand on the doorknob, he heard a low voice talking to him.
“Practice your Signetic well, Vincent.”
Wisana halted. He looked back at the man behind him. He knew right away that this man was one of the Signetic users just like him.
“It’s true that you can use it instinctively, but believe me, it’s not enough. Those people are all Signetic users, I tell you. And they’re very skilled.”
Wisana was quiet. He did not say anything and let out a long sigh. He turned back to the door.
“Thanks for the warning,” Wisana said.
“You’re welcome.” Sven shrugged.
The door was opened and closed very quickly. The stressful atmosphere prompted the man to touch between his eyebrows. His amber eyes glanced at the girl in front of him. Maysa was still there, even though Stella and Waree had already gone to bed.
“That took quite some time. And you said it was going to be only ten minutes.”
Maysa said. Wisana could only smile wryly.
“We let it flow,” Wisana said.
“What did you guys talk about?”
Hearing that, Wisana laughed a little. He grabbed his shirttail and took something that was attached there. It was so small, like an insect. Looking closer, it was a small bee-like device.
“You sneaked this little fella here. Doesn’t it mean you know everything? There’s no need to ask.”
Maysa’s face reddened a little. She could only give out an awkward smile.
“And you believe him?” Maysa asked.
“Mhmm.” Wisana nodded. “Even though he’s mischievous, his eyes don’t lie.”
“How do you know? I can see how bad he is from his war plan. I wouldn’t trust him that much if I were you.”
Maysa tried to be logical. She had fought Sven before on the battlefield. She knew that he always had complicated strategies in his head. He might be planning to do something with Wisana.
“But I believe him. My instinct tells me that he’s not a threat to us.”
Maysa halted.
She stared scrutinizingly at her boyfriend.
It was like something got stuck in her throat. The word ‘instinct’ reminded her of the Signetic. It made her scared.
“Let’s hit the bed tonight. We’ve been through so much for one day.”
Wisana cut the conversation short with a big yawn.
“That’s right.” Maysa smiled awkwardly. “You can go first.”
The boy nodded. Maysa could still see his obscured smile.
“Samie and Mona Lisa are with you in your room, right?” Wisana asked.
“Yeah. Why?”
“Nothing. If they’re there, where will you be, then?”
Maysa bit her lip and looked around.
“I’m not sleepy just yet. I can just go do my plan at the bridge.”
Wisana touched his cheek shyly and glanced elsewhere.
“You want to stay in my room tonight?”
“Huh?”
----------------
“And what you do want to talk with me about?”
The owner of the sweet voice asked without looking at the listener’s face. Waree looked straight ahead at the ocean that reflected the moonlight in the night sky. Shindanai looked up at the starry sky. Neither of them dared to look at each other.
“You also want to talk about something, right?”
Shin asked monotonously.
“You first, then.”
“It’s always lady’s first for me.”
“You’re also a girl now.”
The boy in a girl disguise wanted to argue. But when they accidentally looked into each other’s eyes, they turned away immediately. Shindanai could still keep his cool, while Waree’s face showed so much.
As time went by, it grew even quieter.
The breeze blew and created a soft screeching sound. It was so cold that Waree had to cross her arms.
The sound of the current hitting the ship was a nice ring to the ears. Shindanai could barely smell the fragrance of the sea anymore.
“I’m sorry.”
“I’m sorry.”
Their voices harmonized.
They looked each other in the eye, speechless. It was Waree who laughed first. It was such a comforting laughter for Shindanai.
“What are we even doing?” Waree wiped her tears off.
“I know, right?” Shindanai beamed.
“So, what did you apologize for?”
