Chapter 528: Prisoner of War Part I
Chapter 528: Prisoner of War Part I
A pair of light grey eyes looked duller as those pink lips pressed together, while she was processing something. The small figure of Nemesis’ chief of staff was still sitting in the guild leader’s bedroom. And her face was showing the confusion she was having openly.
The sky outside was dark when it had entered the nighttime completely. The rain was heavily pouring down. And it had been many hours since Wisana lay still on his bed. He was not moving, but breathing in a steady stream, looking totally beaten.
“Signetic Syncro, huh.”
Maysa whispered to herself in a confused voice. She glanced over at her boyfriend again with the face of someone who was having too many things going on in their mind.
Shindanai and Angela had left the room. Obviously, the little mage really left some shocking thing that got Maysa’s head spinning before she went out. Signetic Syncro was too new for humanity right now. Because to be honest, it was just like human’s mutation, even.
Angie said it was not dangerous...
But what if the Signetic substance developed into something dangerous in the future?
Everything seemed to be possible at this point.
Later if humans could move something with their minds or something like that, she would not be surprised anymore now!
After the thoughts, Maysa let out a long sigh. She reached to touch Wisana’s cheek again. Her slender hand was slowly caressing from the eyes, nose, and down to the lips of the man she loved.
Wisana was still Wisana as always.
But...
He looked like a completely different person in that battle. And for some moments, his movements were beyond the level that a human could do. His flexibility was too much, while his sense of reflection was quick like a wild animal.
So, that was when Signetic was activated.
And if she had to be honest, ...she was afraid.
That ability was too terrifying, what if he lost control of it someday? Would he be wild like he was back in the battle zone?
The more she thought about it, the more her face looked confused.
“Can you wake up already, you jerk? I’m not feeling well if you keep sleeping like this, you know.”
She said in a whispering voice. Her hand reached to place on his forehead gently.
And that was when this troublemaker’s rough hand reached out to catch hers quickly.
“Been awake for a while, but I’m waiting for a kiss from a princess.”
Wisana said in a deep voice sleepily, but the good mood in his tone made Maysa curl up a smile right away. She shook her head faintly, moving her hand to pinch him in his upper arm harshly.
“How about a bruise from the princess instead?”
“ARGH!! I’m up. I’m up now!”
The tall man bounced up like there was a spring attached to his back. He hurriedly shook his arm free to caress the pain away. Those amber eyes looked at his girlfriend, blinking a couple of times to plead with her. And of course, it was not working, because Maysa responded to that look in his eyes with a mean glance.
“If you are, then please do your job as the guild leader. Don’t you realize how bad the situation is right now?”
Maysa said in a bored voice when her eyes saw the taller one holding his hands up like a baby asking their mother to hold them up. Seeing that, instead of feeling soft for him, it just triggered the nerves around her temples strongly.
THUD!!
Losing her patience, her fist had now landed right on this sassy head with full strength, making the one who had been attacked twice in a row hold his head gently.
“Come on. You’re not a baby anymore.” Maysa sighed wearily.
“Stingy. That was little to ask for. No need to assault me every time you sulk.” Wisana muttered under his breath.
The girl with grey eyes did not know what to say. She could have laughed seeing him like this if they did not have this serious situation to face.
Wisana understood that as well. Right when he saw it on Maysa’s face, he let out a long sigh. His rough hands reached to cup his own head again. He was feeling a bit dizzy right now, not because of her knuckle, but it had already been like that since he was back to consciousness.
“How many hours did I pass out?” Wisana asked.
“Around 8 hours or something.”
He pretended to smile after hearing that, then he stood up, starting to stretch and yawn.
“Where are we now?”
“Seashore area near Tristan. We’re hiding among tall rocks right now, and that should guarantee our safety for a while.” Maysa answered.
Listening to that, Wisana looked outside the window. He made some muttering sound in his slender neck like he was considering something in mind, while his eyes were on the view of the night sky.
“Can I ask you a weird question?” Wisana spoke again finally.
“Yeah?”
“How did we escape from the enemies’ attacks? I don’t remember anything. Did I do it again?”
Maysa frowned her eyebrows at his question as the man still looked outside the window like he was trying to recall something. Maysa caught that worried look in his eyes for a second, so she stood up. Her slender hand reached out to grab his shoulder.
“Na, you...”
“Captain!”
But Maysa had not yet talked with Wisana when the sweet voice of someone spoke up in the room with a medium-sized digital screen popping up behind them. Maysa turned around to look at it quickly, as well as Wisana.
“Aerin?” Maysa’s eyebrows arched.
“Sorry to contact you through this urgent channel like this, but right now, there is someone sending a mail to our guild’s channel again. Please come to the bridge now. We’re barely holding it right now.”
“Holding what?” Maysa’s brows frowned in confusion.
“Just come here and see it for yourself now, please!”
After speaking, Aerin’s panicked face disappeared, leaving only Maysa and Wisana to look at each other confusedly.
----------------
“Um...”
The groaning was heard quietly as those ruby-red eyes slowly fluttered open. The first thing that came into his sight was the warm light, so bright that he wanted to reach his hand up to cover his eyes. But when he tried to move, he had trouble doing so, because his right shoulder felt so tense. He turned to look at it and saw that it was covered by bandages neatly.
Moreover, he was not wearing a shirt right now. He started looking around and found himself in a small room somewhere. To the side, the view outside the small window was dark, an obvious sign that it was nighttime with rain pouring down from the sky senselessly.
Seeing that, the man slowly used his other arm to push himself up successfully.
He reached up to hold his painful right shoulder. It was the feeling that he knew right away that it was “cursed.”
“So, I didn’t die, huh.” He whispered to himself.
“Of course, you didn’t. Thanks to me who came and saved you. Or else, you would have been sent right to some hospital by now.”
The loud voice of a woman made him freeze. He hurriedly turned to the other side with a surprised face. The alert sensation told him to pull a weapon out of his inventory, but with the curse’s effect, he could not move as he liked. His attractive face was now creasing with pain.
“Why are you being so alert? It’s me. Don’t get too excited.”
After that, the speaker who was standing on the other side of the room walked into the light. And at the first glimpse of that slim body, he frowned as his lips parted in surprise.
“Nuchjaree?!”
