Chapter 521: Blending In Part III
Chapter 521: Blending In Part III
“Are you caring for me, hm, Nuchjaree?” The man asked with some hidden intention.
“Y ...you’re crazy?!” Nuchjaree snapped. “I’m just worried that I’d get killed with you, too, because getting held hostage is already tiring enough.”
Sven smiled mildly at her words. Then he intentionally ruffed her hair gently a couple of times without saying anything about this anymore.
Shortly after that, he glanced over to Tristan City, before opening some information windows to check the number of the players in there. Nuchjaree was silent as she watched the back of this man as he worked on those screens. Her hand was adjusting her hair back in place with a slight red tint on her face.
“You’re really going to fight them by yourself?” Nuchjaree asked.
The man sighed briefly.
“I’ve told you many times that I’m not going in there to fight, just spying.” He looked at his inventory window after replying to get ready. “I’m not stupid to get killed here.”
Even though that was what he said, Nuchjaree still looked at Sven’s inventory and her eyes widened in shock. Because on the screen, she saw many types of fighting items. Just bullets alone had taken up 50 slots already, but there were also several types of bombs and stats potions, too.
When she looked at the weapon section, the slots were just as full. There were more than 80 pieces of weapons this guy Sven had collected, including Swords, guns, spears, axes, bows, and many more.
Was this guy a walking armory or what?!!
“You said you’re not going to fight, but those are enough to make a war.”
Nuchjaree nagged, hand pointing at Sven’s armory with a shocked look on her face.
“Oh, these?” Sven said with a smile. “These are not mine. Well, some of them are, but the rest are all Lavi’s. He left them with me because his and his close friends’ inventory slots are full of his weapons already.”
“Lavi?” Nuchjaree raised her eyebrows. “You mean one of the four gods from Pandora guild?”
“Yeah, who else?”
Sven said briefly, before pulling something out of the inventory window. Nuchjaree saw it was some clothes, a long grey coat that she knew right away that Sven was going to use to cover himself when he went in.
“But how come he left them with you? Don’t say that you two have shady connections with each other.”
“He’s a friend from my university. We graduated the same year. That’s all.” Sven explained briefly. “We also became the four gods almost at the same time, so how is it weird that we’re close? Plus, we have our pride to not do such things like playing out of the rules like that.”
“Well, okay then.”
Nuchjaree muttered to herself, avoiding his eyes.
Seeing that, Sven smiled amusedly, before putting the coat on her right away. Nuchjaree thought he pulled it out to wear it himself, but instead, it was for her. Plus, he put it on her entirely with the hood up on her head.
“What are you doing?” She asked confusedly.
“Take the map.”
After his words, an information window popped up above her head as a notification of someone just sending her mail.
“Follow the map. It’ll lead you to the Cataral army. Find any chief member there, and they will take care of you. Tell them not to worry about me, and I’ll get back later.”
“Eh?” The girl stopped short. “What do you mean? You want me to go to your camp alone?”
“That’s right.”
He replied with such a deadpan expression that it made Nuchjaree let out a chuckle instantly.
“Are you insane or just silly that you think you can go into the enemies’ base by yourself? It’s just a spying job, can’t you just let your intelligence unit handle it? You don’t even have to trouble yourself!”
“I can’t. That’s why I’m doing it myself.” Sven’s face looked so quiescent that Nuchjaree frowned her brows. “The enemies are too strong. If what I heard is true that my army got destroyed by just a group of 3-4 players, then I really have to see them with my own eyes.”
Nuchjaree sighed. She tried to look away to calm her personal frustration down.
“If you see them, then what? Start fighting them or what? Why are you even doing this?”
“I’ll avoid fighting if possible,” Sven said. “But if it’s really necessary, then I’ll probably test their skills out a bit. But don’t worry, I might look like this, but I was once a chief of an intelligence unit before. I’m quite good at sneaking into enemy territories.”
“I ...I’m not worrying.” Nuchjaree snapped. "I just think that you’ve lost your mind, doing something reckless like this."
Sven let out a brief sigh.
"Whatever, but now go back to the Cataral’s base first and leave this to me."
“But what makes you think that I’ll agree to go to your base? If you’re not taking me with you, then don’t expect me to go back there. I’ll just run away as far as I can. And before you realize it, I’ll have already figured out the way to remove these curses from me.”
The dashing girl spoke clearly. She was standing with her hands on her waist boldly as if she wanted to show him that she was not just bluffing him. She would definitely escape if he would not take her to the city with him.
Sven looked deep into those pretty rust-colored eyes, and he could just read her mind. She would do it, so maybe this was time to stop playing around already. The situation had changed, and his break should be put to an end, too.
Sven let out a long sigh after the thoughts.
“Fine.” He said in a delighted voice.
Nuchjaree almost smiled when she heard that.
“I’m letting you go because it seems there’s no point in keeping you here with me anymore.”
But the next sentence made the girl gasp. Her heart strangely trembled for a second. At first, she thought the word ‘Fine’ that he said meant that he would take her to the city with him. Right now, she felt her body getting weak as she realized that she would never understand his thoughts, ever!
“What do you mean letting me go?” Her eyebrows were knitted together.
“You can go back to the Nemesis if you want. I’m setting you free without any conditions.”
He walked to her after he finished speaking. He reached one hand out in front of her with dazzling white light glowing up for a moment. And then, every confinement on Nuchjaree’s body faded away without a trace.
“I’ve removed the curses out of you.” He said, before smiling widely. “Now, we don’t owe each other anything, okay? Oh, and you don’t have to return the clothes you’re wearing. Let me give them to you as a gift for hanging around with me for days.”
Nuchjaree was speechless. She looked down at the clothes with brows tied together.
She really never understood this man’s thoughts.
Why would he even drag her with him for miles just to let her go so easily when they got to the destination? Was he trying to mess with her head or what?
“What are you trying to do exactly? I just don’t really get you, Sven.” Nuchjaree asked him eventually.
Hearing the question, he let out a long sigh.
“The situation has changed now, Nuchjaree. The number one enemy of the Cataral isn’t the Nemesis anymore. So, I don’t have any points to keep you here, or it will be unfair to you, right?” He said with a smile. “You want to go back to your friends, don’t you? And I’ve got enough information about the Nemesis from you. So, we have to say goodbye here now.”
“...”
Nuchjaree had lost words to speak. She hung her head down with awkwardness. Seeing that, Sven walked closer to her, tilting her chin up so he could see her clearly. And in that moment, Nuchjaree fluttered again when he pressed a kiss on her forehead. It was such a warmth that she had never felt before.
Her forehead felt burning.
But that could not be compared to her pounding heart that she was so scared it would blast out of her chest.
