Chapter 51: Surviving the Death to Meet with the Demons Part III

Chapter 51: Surviving the Death to Meet with the Demons Part III

Back at the magic warrior office in Aeneas town.

In the old, shabby building, there were two NPCs walking around tensely through the night. One of them was Lala, the ghost, who could not stop biting her nails. Her ruby eyes were staring at the front door with the most panicked look in them.

As well as the buff monster with a dog head, Leonard, who was walking back and forth like a husband waiting for his wife to deliver his child.

“I really hope that master would never hear about this.”

The deep voice of Leonard made the skinner figure jump.

“Don’t jinx it like that, Leonard!”

The contrasting high-pitched voice bawled back. She looked twice as worried now, like the word ‘master’ could easily give her goosebumps.

“But Miss Lala, the fact that you didn’t warn them that there was a Juzsworm’s nest near the Crevier, was totally wrong.”

“I know! That’s why I am having a panic attack right now,” Lala said witheringly.

“Also, as an NPC, giving incomplete information to the players is a serious mistake. If the master knows...”

Lala was having the scenario in her mind as she was listening to the other.

Then her pale face got even paler, making her look even more creepy. The pair of red eyes rolled around maddeningly. Her nails were bitten off until there was nothing left for her to bite anymore!

“KYAAA!!!”

“You scared me, Miss Lala! Why are you screaming?!”

Lala did not reply. She went straight up to grab Leonard’s arms harshly. Her big round eyes looked scarier as they got wider. Plus, a creepy smile was flashing on her face.

“W... what is it, Miss Lala?”

“Master can’t hear about this. Do you understand, Leonard? Do you still remember the last time the master punished us, right?”

She said with a shaking voice, not drawling anymore. Even her hands were shaking, too.

Hearing that, Leonard started to feel a shiver run down his spine as well now.

“B ... but Miss Lala, isn’t it worse if the master finds out later that we lied to him?”

“Don’t worry about that. If you don’t tell him and I don’t tell him, how will he find out about this, right?”

“B ...but.” Leonard stuttered.

“Do I have to remind you that I’m your boss, too? So, I’m asking you to keep a secret from the master about me forgetting to give them the information about the Juzsworms. It’s going to be okay. He won’t know if no one tells him.”

“No. What if we tell him?”

Another voice came out of the blue, making the two pause.

The pale face slowly turned to it. Her blood-red eyes widened when they saw these three familiar figures right in front of her. Wisana’s party was back, looking all dirty like they literally were running across the desert. Their clothes and hair were covered in the sand. But most significantly, they all looked very pissed off.

“Oh, so this is how it is, huh,” Maysa drawled.

“Damn, you had just one job, and you were still very bad at it,” Manoch added angrily.

AI Lala bared a smile as she was raising her voice, saying,

“You all are alive!”

She cried before she went to Manoch and grabbed his arms like she wanted to confirm what she was seeing now.

“You guys really made it out alive... you look crappy though, still breathing anyway!”

The man’s eyebrows twitched. He grabbed the NPC’s shoulders and shook her harshly a couple of times.

“Why are you acting like it’s not something serious? Do you ever realize that you almost got us killed, ghost face?”

He yelled at her face. Lala’s eyes widened.

A few seconds later, she turned away as her pale cheeks started blushing.

“Awww, we’ve just met. I’ll geeeeet all blushed if you compliment me like thisss.”

“Compliment?” Manoch raised his eyebrows. “I wasn’t complimenting you. That was an insult, you non-human girl!”

“Ahhh, you’re complimenting me again. I’m so embarrassed.”

As he saw how she was shifting her weight from side to side and blushing, Manoch suddenly got creeped out somehow. So, he let go of Lala’s shoulders, retreating back to Wisana immediately.

How could he not back away, since this girl just made eyes at him!

“She looks like a psycho,” Maysa whispered to Wisana.

“You’re too harsh, May. She’s just... a weirdo,” he spoke.

“Aren’t they the same things?!”

“No, they’re not!”

“ARGHH!!”

That was another time that the three had to scream out loud because Lala was sticking to her concept of appearing like a ghost as usual. Right now, she was leaning her bony face closer to them, making the trio draw back in no time.

“The heck?! We’ve not settled with you yet over forgetting to warn us about the Juzsworms, and now you’re acting like a ghost to scare us, too. If you did so poorly as an NPC, you might as well just rest in peace somewhere else!”

Manoch bawled.

“Ahhh. Stop praising me. Are you having a crush on me or something? You’re making me blush.”

“Damn it! Are there any insults that work on this girl?!” It was he who clenched his jaws with anger instead.

“Alright. Enough now guys.”

Wisana interrupted them as calmly as possible. He was pretending to not feel anything about Lala’s creepy gestures because he still had some business to discuss with her.

“Lala, about the quest, I...”

“You didn’t complete the quest, because you ran into the Juzsworms, right?” Lala cut him off. “It’s okay. Don’t worry. I’ll give you one more quest, making it a special case for you only. This time, I’ll let you pass if you find me 10 pieces of level 3 earth gemstones, and do not tell my master about this. Will you do it, pleaseee?”

“No, I won’t.” Wisana turned her down decisively.

Lala’s eyes went wide at the rejection, not even trying to hide her feelings.

“Why? Wisana, please, I’m begging you.”

Then she got down to hold onto his leg, making him cry out a loud ‘Hey!’

“You don’t understand. Our master is very, very savage. If he finds out that I made a mistake in my job like this, I’d totally get in trouble for sure. So, please, Mister Wisana, I’ll do whatever you want in return. I can even sign on your quest approval right now.”

Hearing her offer, the trio caught each other’s eyes.

Especially Manoch, who was grinning right away.

Lala’s actions were clearly showing how much she was scared of her master.

And by seeing that, Manoch just wanted to tease her somehow.

“No. I’ll report you to your master!” Manoch announced.

“Eh?! Why?!”

“Because you made a mistake, so you have to get punished for it.”

“B... but,” Lala was stuttering.

“Also, I really hate it when someone cheats on their exam so much. If you’re still insisting on helping us pass in order to help you cover up your mistake, I’m going to report this to the association of classes to shut this place down.”

“What?! No, please don’t do that. If this place is shut down, the master definitely will abandon me on some deserted island. Please, you can’t do this.”

This time the NPC girl let go of Wisana’s leg, walking on her knees to cling on Manoch’s leg next.

“Please, I’m begging you.”

“No!”

Manoch rejected sharply, making Lala pause. She slowly let go of his leg weakly with an extremely shocked expression. Then, just a few seconds later, she burst into tears.

“Whaaa!! I’m going to get punished now. I’m going to die. Whaaa, what do I do?”

“There, there, Miss Lala.” Leonard let out a low whine before he sat down with her.

“What should we do now, Leonard? We’re really screwed.”

“Don’t worry, miss. I’ll take more responsibility on this, so you don’t get too harsh on the punishment.” Leonard said, eyes tearing up.

“Leonard!”

“Miss Lala!”
