Chapter 52: Surviving the Death to Meet with the Demons Part IV

“Leonard!”

“Miss Lala!”

Then the two threw themselves in a hug, looking very pathetic while crying on the floor. That made the observer like Wisana force out a wry smile before he turned to Manoch, the cause of these NPCs throwing a tantrum.

“You did this,” Wisana said.

“...” Manoch was speechless, not sure if he should feel sorry for them or think that they were pathetic.

“Anyway, I think we should do something to make her stop crying. I’m horrified.”

Maysa said, making the guys follow her eyes again. Then Wisana could understand what his buddy felt horrified by. The black makeup around Lala’s eyes started streaming down her cheeks with the tears, making her look even more like a creepy devil now.

“H... hey, stop crying, you guys,” Wisana was trying to comfort them.

“W... well, this gentleman is going to snitch on Lala. A...and Lala’ll get in huge trouble for sure.”

“No one is going to snitch on you, so please stop crying.”

And, it worked. The gentle voice and the soft smile of Wisana calmed Lala to a sniff that looked a lot more creepy than cute.

“Really?” She repeated.

“Yes, we’re not going to report you. Also,” he said then he took something out of his pocket, “we’ve already completed the quest, so you didn’t do anything wrong, right?”

The beautiful amber gemstone was handed out in front of Lala to see...

She sobbed out loud with a wide smile.

“You found it!” she shouted.

“Yeah, we did, almost got us killed though.”

Hearing Wisana, the NPC girl grabbed the gemstone immediately before she got up, wiping off her dark tear quickly.

“You did a good job,” even her voice was clear like normal again. “Please sign on your quest approval, so I can register you as a first-class player of the magic warrior class right now. Hurry up.”

This Lala was so quick to shrift her moods, making Wisana curious if she was just fake crying just now. So, that was why she looked so easily happy as she was pulling him to sign on his approval like this.

“Is it necessary to be in this rush?” Wisana asked.

“Yes, it is. We need to finish the registration before my master gets back.”

Hearing that, Wisana scratched his cheek.

“I think that he wouldn’t mind if he finds out about this. Everyone makes mistakes, you know.”

“Mister Wisana, you don’t get it. My master is very savage, fierce, and mean!”

“Yeah? How mean?”

“Very, very mean!”

Lala paused for another time. She stopped dragging the man and went silent for a long time when she realized that the latest voice did not sound like Wisana’s just for a bit.

The ruby eyes widened, the body getting cold but the sweat coming out uncontrollably.

Every eye in the office turned to the newcomer at the same time. The tall, thin man was in a t-shirt and a pair of jeans with a big backpack on his back like he was ready for a climbing trip. His shoulder-length long hair was tied in a tiny ponytail, matching with his matured face. His narrow eyes and his smile looked kind.

“Who’s that, Lala?” Wisana asked.

“Th... that’s my master.”

Hearing that, everyone made a sound like ‘Huh?’ from their throats before they turned to look at the newcomer again. Not only did he not look mean at all, but he also looked very kind and nice. He seemed to be around the age of 35. And judging from the outside, he was not anything like Lala said.

“Hello, everyone. Well, it’s been a while since we had visitors in our office.”

He greeted with a smile as he walked past Maysa and Manoch to stop in front of Wisana.

“It’s you, right? The one who has signed up for my class.”

"Yes."

“Oh, great! You have such perfect deportment. Did you know that, er....”

“I’m Wisana.”

“Alright, Wisana it is. Hi, I’m the master of the magic warrior class, named Sander.”

The newcomer introduced himself with a polite smile before he held out his hand, and Wisana would not mind shaking it to be polite back.

“But I meant it, though, Wisana. Your posture is perfect. Looks like you’re very flexible too, right? Do you do sports?”

“Er... I did some Taekwondo.”

“Really?!”

Sander guy widened his eyes, smiling so broadly before he patted Wisana on the shoulder harshly.

“That’s just perfect. And how about your quest to find the level 4 gemstone, did you find it?”

“Yes, I did.”

Wisana said confusingly as he was pointing at the amber gem in Lala’s hand. Then he just noticed that she was shaking like a wet baby bird. He raised his eyebrows.

“Excellent, now the problem is solved, and it’d be my pleasure to approve your second quest, too, boy.”

“The second quest?”

He repeated before he gazed at Lala.

“There’s the second quest?!”

“Aw, Lala didn’t tell you?”

Hearing the question, Lala jumped and Wisana got speechless. He was trying to help her out of trouble, but it seemed like there were too many things to cover up for her now.

“Well, apart from forgetting to warn them about the Juzsworm’s nest, you forgot to tell them about the second quest, too?”

Sander said with a soft voice, almost sounding like he was laughing.

Lala felt weak on her knees by that, collapsing on the floor now.

“D... did you know about this, too?” Lala asked, sweating.

“Yes, I did,” he said with a sweet smile. “When I was traveling back here, I saw them digging on the Crevier, so I knew right away that they were doing our class quest. But after I saw the crazy digging technique of this merchant, I knew then that no one warned them about the Juzsworms.”

He was pointing at Manoch as he spoke. Lala could not say anything, just gasping up and down like a goldfish.

“P ...please forgive me.”

“Okay.”

Sander told her with a gentle smile, making Lala smile as well.

“I’ll forgive you for not warning the man about Juzsworm’s nest. But for you trying to cover up and lying to me, I think that you should get a punishment.”

Then the smile on Lala’s face disappeared. At the same time, Sander turned to smile at Wisana, patting his shoulder softly. It was very strange that the man was politely smiling at him, but somehow, he got goosebumps uncontrollably.

“Can you wait here, Wisana? I have a lot to talk to you about the class introduction, game play style, and how to upgrade skills, too.”

“Y... yeah,” Wisana agreed, voice shaking.

“Good. Then excuse me for a second. I have some business to take care of.”

He smiled casually as he walked straight to Leonard before choking holding the half-dog, half-human away. And of course, he did not forget to drag Lala by her collar, too. He kicked the back door open with a loud bang! before he turned to smile at the party.

“Make yourself comfortable. You can sit back and relax here. Oh, and just don’t mind it, if you hear a scream coming from the room. Just think about it as some wind wailing through the door.”

“O... okay.” Again, Wisana had to agree weakly.

SLAM!

The door was closed. The sound of it strangely reminded him of when a guillotine blade fell down somehow.

Wisana stiffly walked back to his friends. The three were now frozen still, no one dared to speak a word. But they knew what each other was thinking by the eyes.

They could see now why Lala was so creepy like that.

Because she got all her characteristics from her master!

Most importantly, the master of the office was very savage, fierce, and mean, exactly like Lala said. Behind the kind and polite mask, no one could not tell that the man named Sander was just faking it!

SCREEEEECH!!!

Just a short while later, a scream of terror came from Lala, almost making the trio jump into a group hug. Their eyes said it clearly enough that they wanted to get out of here as soon as possible. Especially Manoch whose knees were about to give out since Satan smiled at him a while ago.

The three could finally agree on one thing now that this was,

“The office of the creepies.”
