Chapter 491: Mysterious News Part IV

Chapter 491: Mysterious News Part IV

“Most monsters have memory backup data, so they will be the same monsters after respawning. But some that replace one another like Sarquros don’t have that. She will be deleted from Pride completely after she dies, and the egg she laid will take her place as the local boss, and that will be Mona Lisa.”

The more he listened, the tighter his brows became. This was like Samie’s life was completely in his hands now. She left Drago Hild to join this dangerous war for him.

Wisana could only sigh in response.

And then a prudent smile crossed his face, making Lex raise his eyebrows in surprise.

“Well, you don’t have to worry about that, Lex,” Wisana said. “I’ve been responsible for hundreds of players already, so it won’t be a big deal adding another one. Let’s say that you have my word, I’ll look after Samie.”

Lex curled up a satisfied smile. Then he nodded, feeling glad to have this man as a dragon warrior just like him.

“I’m glad to hear that.”

Wisana smiled widely as he nodded. After that, they continued talking about dragons. Wisana asked Lex about the skills he had unlocked, including how to improve further in this class.

While they were having the conversation, they did not realize that they were overheard from the beginning by someone else outside the living room. That someone put their eyes between the gap of the door and those light grey eyes looked extremely interested in what they talked about a lot.

----------------

“May.”

The sweet voice rang up loud and clear in the room. However, the owner of the name still was not responding to it. Her grey eyes were zoning out of the large glass window in the bridge room like there was a lot to process in her mind.

“May.” The same voice repeated.

“...”

“May, hello?”

“...”

“Miss, Maysa?!!”

“Goodness!”

And losing patience, the one calling yelled at the top of her lungs that it made Maysa jump. Instantly, those light grey eyes looked in the voice’s direction and saw Waree standing there with her hands on her waist, looking pissed. So, Maysa forced up an awkward smile back at her.

“Where were you May? I’ve been calling you dozens of times now.”

“Sorry, I was spaced out a little bit.”

Maysa tilted her head down, smiling wryly.

“Thinking about something?”

Waree asked as she approached her friend to wrap her arms around Maysa in comfort. Then her eyes followed to where Maysa had been looking at the whole time, and then she understood why her friend was like this right away.

The scene down below was three people playing by the water. One of them was Mona Lisa, the other was Samie, and the last one who looked awfully familiar was her brother. He managed to roll up his pants and took off his jacket to join the girls.

And after seeing that, Waree chuckled softly.

“I can see now why you were zoning,” Waree said smilingly.

“...Well,”

That was all Maysa could say. So, she sighed and then looked away.

Waree cracked into a laugh as she ruffed her friend’s hair.

“There, there, don’t be upset. Anyway, are you still mad at him? I saw him following you around all day, May. When are you going to stop keeping this up? Na looks like a poor baby now.”

“If your boyfriend cheated on you, would you be able to stop being mad at him easily, Nam?”

Even though she got a talk back like this, Waree still had her amused smile on.

“Na already said that he didn’t have a choice. He still loves you the most anyway, right, Miss Gorgeous?”

Maysa snorted loudly.

“He’s my boyfriend, not some cake that I can cut and share with others.”

“Yeah, you got the point there.”

Waree reached to pinch the upset one in the cheek out of endearment because it was not often to see Maysa being like this.

“Come on, Na tried to explain to you that he didn’t have a choice, so you might want to listen to him a bit. He doesn’t really know how to reject people, and he’s always nice to everyone like this.”

“Yeah, of course, he’s your brother. You have to take his side.”

The listener laughed amusedly in her throat. She reached up to ruff her hair with mixed feelings of adoration and annoyance. This girl sure liked taking out her temper on others when she was angry, even though that was kind of annoyingly cute.

“It’s just a game, May,” Waree said smilingly. “You and Na are still a loving couple outside Pride. Plus, didn’t Samie say that she doesn’t want to be loved back? She just wants to love Na. Also, she’s very friendly and humble to you, isn’t she?”

“Yeah, I know that.”

Maysa said with a grumpy face a little. She stared down at the river again and saw her sassy boyfriend carrying the girl up and swinging her around, getting happy laughter from both the daughter and her (real) mom.

Seeing that, she sighed again.

“But something is just hard to take, Nam,” Maysa said with a bored sound.

“Come on, Samie is just the game’s NPC, May,” Waree said. “Are you going to be jealous over a game NPC? Don’t you think that will be ridiculous?”

“And the NPC doesn’t have feelings?” Maysa talked back. Waree raised her eyebrows. “Even though it’s just some code, Pride’s NPCs’ personalities are generated from more than two hundred thousand real people, you know. She has wills and feelings of her own. Isn’t it a bit too mean to say she’s ‘just’ an NPC?”

Maysa said with an upset face. So, Waree blinked confusedly for a moment, and finally, she cracked into a laugh.

“What mood are you in exactly, Miss Maysa? Are you angry, upset, sulking, or feeling sorry for her right now?”

Maysa huffed out a sigh at Waree’s words. “I don’t know. I’m confused, too. But what I know for sure is that Samie isn’t a bad person.”

She said, then rolled her eyes wearily. What she overheard from the conversation between Wisana and the master of the dragon warrior class made her confused somehow. A part of her was still angry at this cheeky one who always got himself in trouble for being so gentle to girls. But the other part was feeling sorry for Samie if she forced Wisana to cancel the bond with her permanently.

That was why she got all confused like this!

“You look like you’re lost here, bestie.”

Waree said mockingly.

“Well, you will understand once you’re in a situation like me!” Maysa snapped.

“Then, do you want me to help you find a way out, May?”

Maysa turned to squint at her bestie like she was unsure about that mischievous smile on the other’s face.

“How?” She asked.

“Easy-peasy.” Waree winked in response. “Well, Samie seems to like you. And you seemed to be interested in her as well. So, why don’t you all just be a family? It’d be so cute having a new little sister. Na will put you first anyway. And Samie made it clear that she just wanted to be cared for and pitied. Then, I think maybe opening your mind and trying to learn to accept her isn’t a bad idea. You know, it’s just Pride, playing along could be fun.”

Waree smiled widely as she said because those words coming out of her mouth were meant to be joking. However, the listener got silent right away. Maysa looked away and pressed her lips together tightly as if she was considering it.

“May, I’m kidding. Are you taking it seriously?”
