Chapter 452: A Calling from Dirt Part III
Chapter 452: A Calling from Dirt Part III
“Oh, I see.”
Wisana replied smilingly as he was familiar that it was even written on the sign at the entrance saying, ‘Vanilia, the town of healing.’ That was actually what the town was known for.
“If they’ve got a lot of good things in this town then why are there rarely visitors coming by? I think the weather here is nice, the view is pretty, and the food is so good, even though there’s some four-mouthed jerk trying to ruin it for me.”
Hearing Wisana’s words, Jinnie and Mona Lisa crackled because that four-mouthed jerk named Jeng purposely came around to nag Wisana very often today, even when he was working or when they walked past each other.
“I don’t know how to deal with the man either,” Jinnie replied amusedly. “But about why very few people are interested in this town, the answer is that the items in the game have been developing a lot these days. And not only the items but also new classes that are formed dozens of them per year, too.”
“And I still don’t get how that’s related, gorgeous.” Wisana shook his head slightly.
“People can now heal their injuries with some brilliant items and dispel many types of curses by just snapping their fingers. For these reasons, a healing place like a hot spring gets remarkably less popular.”
Listening to that, Wisana made an ‘Oh’ sound out of his throat as he finished braiding his daughter’s hair. Mona Lisa then rushed to the nearest mirror to check out her new hairstyle with a smiley face.
“What a shame. This hotel is so nice.”
“That’s right.”
Jinnie agreed, continuing to comb her master’s hair silently.
“Should we do an advertisement for this hotel after the war ends?” Wisana said with a playful smile. “Put the hotel’s name on the back of our guild uniform or something like that.”
Hearing that, Jinnie crackled.
“Isn’t that going to be too weird?” She asked.
“How is it weird? Even those football players have an advertisement on their chest, too. So, I’m putting the name on the back without charging them for it. That is a nice thing, you know.” He said, grinning delightedly. “I just want this place to be livelier. This hotel has some scent that I feel familiar with. It makes me comfortable like I can really take a break here.”
The listener let out a brief sigh, while she was putting the comb back in her inventory window.
“If you really wanted to take a break, you shouldn’t have looked for trouble like this. What would happen if Miss Maysa found out that you promised to deal with the monsters?”
Wisana froze. And he grinned at her words right after.
“Well, nothing will happen, if she doesn’t know, so,”
He gestured to zip up his mouth for Jinnie to see, making the AI giggle.
By the way, what her master said could be true. She had not seen him looking lively and relaxed like this for months. Ever since he became Vincent, the leader of Nemesis, everything he had to carry started weighing up.
Even though he got through it simply fine, Jinnie could see that her master was exhausted from it.
So, to be out and recharge some energy like this might be a good idea.
However, this guy’s charger probably was different from other people because it had to connect with trouble to work!
“So, while I was casting a protection spell for this town today, did you find anything on your town exploring trip?”
Wisana shrugged in reply to that question.
“Nothing. I walked almost a kilometer around the town, and I didn’t see any trace of a Sand Man at all.”
“This looks very strange,” Jinnie said.
“It does.” Wisana agreed. “And when there’s no trace of enemies like this, the reason could be either they’re hiding and waiting for the right time to attack the village at once, or they’re on the way from the desert.”
“Both reasons are strange.”
“Exactly.” Wisana nodded along.
“If it’s the first case, monsters like Sand Man are not capable of planning to hide and ambush. They don’t have intelligence and only want to kill players. But if it’s the second one, which is they’re travelling from the desert, why would they even come to this town? Also, Sand Men are not even guardian monsters.”
Wisana sighed after listening to that. He reached up to scratch his head then shook his head, getting to the dead-end of figuring this out now.
“Both cases don’t make any sense.” He sighed again. “It would have been much easier if May was here. She would have solved the problem right away.”
“But we can’t rely on someone who’s not here, Master.” Jinnie smiled wryly.
“Right.” Wisana smiled back at her, before leaning backward on his hands. “I already cast the spell around the village by the way. If there’s a monster getting in the circle, it will be triggered right away. At least that will work as a danger alert for us. We have to be always ready, okay? Because from what I heard, the monsters attack randomly.”
“Yes, Master,” Jinnie responded in a clear voice right away. “So, would you like to rest now? I’ll go prepare your mattress. You’re probably exhausted from walking around the town all day.”
“No, not yet. This night is still young.”
After speaking knowingly, Wisana waved to call Mona Lisa to come sit on his lap right away.
“Since the atmosphere here is so nice, there’s nothing better than playing with some fireworks to it, right?”
“Fireworks?”
The girls repeated with surprise. Jinnie raised her eyebrows, while Mona Lisa’s eyes were sparkling as she reached to cling on to her father’s shirt tightly.
“Are fireworks fun, Papa?” The little girls asked.
“Yes, they are. And there’re many kinds of them, too. From little ones you can hold in your hands to the big ones where we shoot it up to blast prettily in the sky.”
Hearing the answer, little Mo smiled widely right away.
“Wow, I want to see them. I want to play with fireworks!”
“Master, are you sure this is the time for fireworks? Well, the others would be annoyed by us with that.”
“Yeah, I know/” Wisana said smilingly. “We’ll keep the big ones for after we solve this case. But we can have Mo play with the smaller ones like those sparklers tonight.”
“...But”
KNOCK! KNOCK!
Suddenly, there was a knock on the door interrupting Jinnie who was trying her best to argue. Every eye turned in that direction at the same time. And then, Wisana curled up a smile.
“There it is. I asked Miss Miki to bring a large set of fireworks for us. She’s probably back with them now.”
The cheeky one smiled delightfully.
“Yeah, yeah, fireworks, fireworks.” Monalisa was putting her hands in the air happily.
Seeing that, Jinnie could only huff out a huge breath, feeling weary about this careless habit that happened in any kind of situation of Wisana.
A second later, she floated to the door and unlocked it. After that, it slid open and a pissed-off face that had the eyes staring directly at Wisana appeared in the doorway. The remarkable black hair that pointed upward instantly made Mona Lisa gnarl. And Wisana? He let out an awfully long sigh.
“What? It’s you.”
