Chapter 417: A.L.I.C.E Part I

On the 35th floor of the Pride Trading Corporation building, inside the executive office by the end of the hallway. On the expensive wooden door, there was a white sign with letters written clearly saying, “Mawin Silpitakkul Consultant.”

It was 9 in the morning, and it was strange to see an executive being at the office this early. But it was normal for Mawin. He usually came to his office around this time. It could be that he wanted to be a good role model for his subordinates, or maybe he was just tired of hearing his beloved wife’s complaints about how he liked checking out the director’s secretary’s butt, which he had no idea who would have told on him about this to her.

Anyway, today, Mawin came to work early and was available at his base already. His desk did not have any paperwork this morning, yet. So, there was only a cup of coffee with hot steam floating up and a new magazine he just bought today.

A large set of stereos in his office room was playing classic Canon on a violin, his favorite song that could calm his mind every time he listened to it. His sharp eyes behind black, large, framed glasses, that he only wore once in a while to read something, were skimming through today’s newspaper concentratedly.

On the online media page, there was a big headline saying, “Vincent changes Pride once again.” It got all Mawin’s attention with a picture of a man spreading his wings wide in the sky so elegantly with a little girl flying by his side.

Mawin placed his hand under his chin as he thought, while the other hand was touching the picture with an unreadable expression in his eyes. He let out a soft sigh.

KNOCK! KNOCK!

A second later, there was a knock on the door, making the owner of the room freeze a little. Then his hands closed the newspaper up, throwing it on the desk without caring about it anymore.

"Come in."

Marvin said in a low voice as his rough hand pulled the glasses off his face. He then immediately turned to grab the teenage magazine he had just bought this morning, the cover of which featured a teenage girl in a micro bikini striking a seductive posture by the sea.

The door swung open and a tall man with short hair walked in. He was wearing glasses, looking grand. His skin was fair, and he looked like he was around 27 years old.

“Good morning, Sir.” The man greeted in a gentle voice.

“Morning. You’re here early.”

Mawin greeted him back. His hand started to flip the magazine pages, while the other was holding up his coffee.

“I’m your secretary. It would be inappropriate for me to come to work later than you do.”

“Why would you mind that?” Mawin said mindlessly as he took a sip of his coffee.

“Anyway, who made you that coffee? Don’t tell me it was the director’s secretary again.”

The short-haired man pointed out, eyes narrowed. After that, Mawin grinned as he held the cup up, winking at the other annoyingly.

“Yeah, and it tastes better than some dude around here makes. Coffee from girls really has the best aroma.”

He said, then took the scent of the coffee in as if it were the neck of a pretty woman.

“Be careful. You’re playing with fire. Don’t you know that?” The man spoke, acting to look around before leaning to whisper to the other man close. “Don’t you know that the director has his eyes on that woman as well? The inside said that he went to choose this woman to be his secretary by himself.”

“What? Really?”

Mawin turned to widen his eyes to his secretary.

“Don’t tell this to anyone, or our company’s image would be doomed surely.”

“Ugh! That old sag, he sent a dude to assist me and keep all the girls to himself, huh? Unbelievable. Just wait and see. I’m going to tell his daughter on him. He’s so close to being put in a grave and still thinking about getting younger girls.”

The consultant of Pride company said briskly. His hands closed the magazine he was reading right away. Meanwhile, his close assistant held his hand up to cover his laugh.

“Well, I think it’s no different. Aren’t the father and the son-in-law the same species? Miss Nittaya’s probably so fed up with you two. Luckily, Miss Nam was born as a girl and got a lot from her mother. If she were born a boy and got the habit from you, I think you three would have flirted with the same girl or something surely.”

Hearing that, Mawin huffed out of his throat. Those sharp eyes were looking at his secretary, who was shrugging annoyingly.

“You got quite a mouth there, butthead.”

“Why do you think I can still put up working with you, sir?”

The secretary retorted sassily. However, Mawin just pretended to not mind that. He managed to push out a harsh sigh, before leaning back against his expensive leather chair.

“Anyway, why did you come into my office so early? I told you that you don’t have to hurry to work. Just take some time to sleep more. No one is going to blame you or anything. They know what it’s like working for me.”

“It’s okay. I wake up at 5 anyway.”

The secretary replied with a smiling face. Seeing that, Mawin raised his eyebrows slightly.

“Huh, and what about the work I assigned you...?”

“I finished it. I asked them to leave early, so there was no problem. Also, so many things happened last night, but it was fun.”

The secretary gave him a soft smile, then he placed a black folder with the words “Top Secret” printed on it on his desk. Seeing that, Mawin whistled, before grabbing it to check it out right away.

“That was quick,” Mawin said smilingly.

“Well, it’s just a report about the change in the past month. I really couldn’t ask for more examples. Also, to check anything is quite hard because he always has people around him. But luckily, he kind of trusts me now, so. There’s no problem.”

“Huh! It sounds more like you’re just having fun with those kids, I suppose.”

Mawin snorted, his hands opening the black folder to read concentratedly.

“A little bit. We were out there to mess things up last night. You haven’t read today’s paper? The news about it should be out by now.”

“No, I don’t really like those. The only page I care about is the prophesy page.”

Mawin cut him off with a slow voice. The secretary scratched his cheek after hearing that, then he took a few steps backward, looking like he was about to leave the room.

“I’ll get back to work then. And please do not forget that you have a meeting appointment with the director at one p.m.”

“Yeah, yeah, tell that old man that I’ll be a little bit late. I have some business to do at noon.”

Mawin waved the other away after he was done with him. The close assistant scratched the nape of his neck wearily after listening to that as this man was speaking like he owned this company!!

“Right...”

Suddenly, Mawin drawled his voice when he realized something.

The secretary stopped his feet. Those eyes behind a pair of silver glasses turned to look at the boss again.

“You need anything else, sir?”

“Just wanted to thank you for being troubled working for me. I don’t have anyone else I can trust with this kind of sense except you. If anything, I’ll pay you a bonus later.”
