Chapter 373: Keep the Change Part I
Chapter 373: Keep the Change Part I
“Unit three and unit five have claimed the area successfully.”
“Unit seven and unit four just sent us a retreat signal. It’s been confirmed that their areas have been taken by the enemies.”
“Unit six needs a support unit urgently. What do we do?”
“Unit nine is requesting players with curse dispelling skills in support now. The enemies in their area are too many of those disable skill players.”
Shouts and bawling kept coming up one after another in the main commanding tent of the red pirate army. There were 10 players who worked as communicative agents sitting at two long tables, facing each other with many information windows popping up messily.
Only a few people in the tent were sitting calmly in the far back of the tent with a few information screens opening near them.
“Leader Valentine, unit two of yours is asking for a support unit to cast the spell to claim the area urgently. Do you approve?”
A girl from the communicative team shouted happily, making the woman who was sipping tea on the couch carefreely curl up a sweet smile, then she said briefly...
“...Yes. Tell them that they did an excellent job as well.”
“Yes, Miss!”
The girl responded with a delighted smile, before pressing on one of the screens in front of her. She held a hand up to touch her headset as she spoke into the microphone to pass her order right away.
“It seems like they’re doing well. We’ve taken over 3 out of 9 areas now.”
A voice rang happily. It came from a big guy. His hair was slicked back, making him look neat. His age could be around 28 from his looks.
“That’s right, Mister Viper. But don’t forget that the other side has already taken 2 areas as well.”
Valentine replied briefly. She held the teacup with a beautiful pattern on it to her lips again, before sighing softly, as if she was in a pretty garden that was full of flowers and butterflies. When in fact, the atmosphere here was loud, under chaos and pressure.
“Then only units one, six, eight, and nine that we haven’t yet known the results.”
The owner of the name Viper said, scratching the nape of his neck.
“Unit one is a bit concerning though. They haven’t reached back to us at all. I wonder how they’re doing right now. My support unit has been waiting for the signal to go in for a while now, but it’s still not coming.”
Listening to the complaint, Valentine did not say anything in reply. Her face suddenly looked serious. Her slender hand placed the teacup on the table softly. Those lavender eyes then turned to a corner of the tent right away, to the spot where the chief players were sitting.
To the man whom she never trusted from the beginning.
Until now, the feeling had not gone away. Her nose could catch some fishy smell from there, and her instinct was alarming her that, ...
There was something not right.
“Hey,”
Finally, Valentine spoke with one of the communicative agents briefly, making a girl with a microphone pointing to her mouth stop working and turn to look at Valentine right away.
“Yes, leader Valentine?” She spoke.
“Can you contact Maysa, unit one’s adviser for me please?”
“Please wait a moment.”
After replying, the operator girl turned busy with her information screens again. Then she tried calling the other side of the voice channel. Finally, she turned to Valentine, before shaking her head.
“We can’t reach them, leader Valentine. And it’s been like this for almost 20 minutes now. I don’t know what the problem is.”
Listening to that, Valentine touched her chin consideringly.
“Maybe it’s a problem with the signal. It could be that the other army used some items to cut off the signal like the communication jammer bomb, or something like that.”
Viper turned to speak with a serious expression.
What he said made sense, but that was not the only thing she was worried about.
It was just too quiet. At least, there should be some reports sent back to the base. If it was really the problem with the communication signal, the chief player like Mister Vincent would have sent someone back to base, so they could send the support unit in to help.
But there was nothing...
There was suspiciously no sign of them.
“What is going on here?!”
Suddenly, there was a loud shout heard through the tent, followed by the gorgeous chief of staff of the Nemesis guild stomping in the tent with a face that everyone understood in a quick glimpse that she was in a furious mood right now. Trailing behind her, there was a long-faced man with glasses named Manoch walking in the tent as well.
“W ...what’s going on, Nemesis’ chief?”
A communicative agent girl who was sitting the nearest to her asked, startled.
Because Maysa should have been on the frontline of the battle right now, but why was she in the main base like this?
“It’s my unit. They’re in a tough situation right now, and I’ve been reaching out to the base for support, but no one has responded. That’s why I had to come all the way back here myself. What does this even mean?”
Maysa bawled furiously.
And everything she said was right.
About 10 minutes ago, she was on the frontline of the battle and saw how bad their force got outsmarted. At that moment, Maysa tried to think about a plan to fix the situation as fast as she could.
And the best solution she came up with was to call for support to push the enemies out...
But what was this...?
She tried to reach the main base, but there was no response.
That was why she had to ride the bird back to inform the base in person like this!
“What do you mean by tough situations?”
Valentine was the one who asked with a calm expression. After Maysa heard her, she stomped to Valentine and her face made it clear that the situation with unit one was profoundly serious.
“We got attacked from behind.” She spoke. “They totally outsmarted my plan. The situation on the battlefield is very confusing. And I need some support. Maybe we can still win this. I couldn’t communicate with the base back there. It’s like there’s some sort of a signal jammer.”
Hearing that, Valentine and Viper who was sitting next to her glanced at each other knowingly.
It was really a com-jammer.
“So, please send a support unit in.”
The two leaders felt quite worried about Maysa’s request. Their eyes caught each other again like they were considering it, and Maysa knew why they had a reaction like that.
“Isn’t it going to be too late to do that now, Miss Maysa?”
And then, there was an unwanted voice speaking. William, who had been sitting quietly in a corner of the tent, finally stood up. He was wearing sunglasses, even though the light in here was not that bright. His purple hair was tied in a tight ponytail. And the soft smile he put on his face looked the most annoying.
“What are you implying, leader William?”
