Chapter 374: Keep the Change Part II
Chapter 374: Keep the Change Part II
“What are you implying, leader William?”
She stressed the name clearly. Maysa had never liked this guy since the first time they met. And when they met in such an urgent situation, she got more annoyed by his appearance.
“I’m implying that it’s going to be too late to send in the support unit now. How long has your unit been under attack, Miss Maysa?”
Hearing the question, she clenched her jaws.
“About 20 minutes, sir.”
“20 minutes,” Willaim repeated in a fake shocked voice. “Your force wouldn’t have lost by now? The enemies could probably have claimed the area already, too. If we randomly go to that area, we could be attacked by their district spells, you know?”
Maysa kind of saw this kind of refuting coming.
But when it came out of William’s mouth like this, she knew right away that she was being messed with.
“What about the signal flare?” Valentine asked, “Why didn’t Mister Vincent fire the flare for help in the first place?”
Maysa was speechless. She turned her face away like she did not want to speak.
“...I don’t know.”
“Huh!” William yelled. “It could be that he was dead before he could even fire the flare for help, I guess.”
A few words from the man made Maysa clench her fists tightly. She looked up to stare him directly in the eye, but the other was already smiling at her.
This jerk did not even try to be subtle about it, huh?!
The more Maysa thought about it, the angrier she became. Her fists clenched so tightly, before Manoch was the one who poked her, getting her back to herself again.
“You should tell them to retreat, Miss Maysa.”
Valentine spoke up again in a soft voice. And her words made the entire tent silent. Everyone knew how important the area that the Nemesis guild was assigned to take was. So, after they heard the word ‘retreat,’ they all knew right away that,
The guild had lost their first battle.
Maysa was speechless as well.
She understood that the best thing to do for now was to get out of there. However, what she was concerned about was not victory, but her guildmates.
She knew from a quick glance that the enemies did not have the intention to eliminate them.
But those guys were going to capture her unit to be war prisoners!
“I’ll tell them to retreat,” Maysa spoke up in a brave voice. “But I need a support unit anyway because my guild is surrounded right now. To flee out of there won’t be done so easily, so...”
“I need to reject that.”
She did not even finish her sentence, because William interrupted with a raising voice, making Maysa stop short.
“Reject that, why?” Maysa asked in a harsh voice.
“The support units are prepared to go in and claim the mining areas only. We did not prepare them to rescue lives. Also, I don’t think the support will be needed for retreating though, or your guild isn’t skilled enough to do that either?”
“...”
Maysa was speechless. She was expecting that she would be rejected by these kinds of words, surely. But when she was told that right to her face, she started feeling like punching this man’s nose somehow.
“But the enemies are going to capture my guild members as war prisoners. So, you’re saying that you’d allow them to do that to your allies?”
She said with an emotionless face. And William shook his head slightly in response, shrugging like he could not care any less.
“Those people are just your allies, Miss Maysa.” He said, then smiled. “Please don’t let your emotions cloud your judgment. I disagree with sending a support unit to a dangerous area like that. It’s clear that you took too long to inform us. So, we can’t do anything but stand and wait for them from the outside now.”
“So, you’re saying that I have to watch my players being taken away right in front of my eyes?”
Maysa repeated, and this jerk only faked to let out a long sigh in response.
“Should we have a vote about this then?” The guy said, purposely taking a few steps back before he continued. “Who agrees with sending a support unit into that dangerous area that probably has been claimed by the enemies already, please raise your hand.”
After his words, there was only Valentine and Viper raising their hands above their heads. Apart from them, those chief units who were sitting behind William were not moving any muscles, and they were even too cowardly to look at Maysa.
‘Well then, who agrees with not sending the support unit in, because it won’t be worth risking our main force for a few players, please raise your hands.”
This time, there were five hands raised up nervously from behind William right away.
After seeing that, Maysa did not smile, not frown. She let out a throaty laugh, before turning her face away.
“Democracy, huh.” She spoke quietly.
Then she looked at Valentine to see the other let out a sigh that implied she wanted to help, but she could not do anything more. Valentine even wanted to lead the unit to rescue Vincent’s guild by herself, but she thought that William would find every reason to hold her back anyway!
William curled up a smile, not even bothering to cover up his satisfaction.
“Just as you see, Miss Maysa. 6 against 3 votes.” He said, before shrugging annoyingly. “Well, they’re your guild anyway, so, you should try fixing problems by yourself. And we’re kind of occupied in here. May you please get out now? Oh, and if you need any war hardware, you can take it from my guild. You have my permission.”
The guys said, before nodding at them gently. It was clear that it was just a comfort for ‘the losers’ that William gave them.
However, Maysa smiled in acceptance with those words.
‘I’ve been waiting for you to say that for a while now, William.’
“I can take anything I need? Thank you so much, leader William.”
She left those words in a cheerful face, making everyone in the tent raise their eyebrows out of surprise, especially William. She then bowed her head down a little, before poking her friend who came with her,
“Ae, get Richie to carry anything we need to build that thing. How long does it take for one?”
Hearing that, Manoch smiled brightly.
“5 minutes is more than enough for me.”
“Good!”
Maysa smiled back, making Valentine stand up to hold the chief of staff back with curiosity.
“Miss Maysa, what are you going to do?”
Hearing the question, Maysa turned to give her a little wink.
“It’s a secret, Miss.”
----------------
At the scene of the battlefield that was once chaotic, it had incredibly calmed down now. Almost 70% of the Nemesis guild’s force was pushed to be in the same place. The front unit and the range unit were all surrounded by the enemies’ force three times larger than theirs.
There was a large red barrier covering the Nemesis’ force like the enemies wanted to prevent them from resisting. It was some sort of a high-ranked district spell that required at least five players to cast.
“Now, it’s all done.”
