Chapter 365: Right In the Face, “From the range of 3 kilometers?!” Part I
The sky was lit up by the sunlight a moment later as the force of the Nemesis guild had arrived at the battlefield which was a wide grass field with hills sitting around the area. More than 80 players were hiding and watching the area from inside the woods.
It was 8:55 o’clock, getting closer to the important moment as every minute passed. The players looked clearly excited. Each of them was staring right at the area they had to take over with their force concentratedly like a predator was watching its prey.
"...That’s the mine that we need to capture as fast as possible.”
The voice was from Nuchjaree. She spoke up as a digital map was shown in the circle of Tunwa, Wisana, and Shindanai.
“From where we are right now to the area right here.” She said, drawing her finger to the mine on the map. “Is around 2 kilometers. And looking from the starting points in the battle, it seems like the other force has the same distance from the mine as us. So, at this rate. the faster, the winner.”
Nuchjaree said with a tense face, not looking like the usual her at all.
Like the rest of the guys, their faces seemed more stressed than usual.
“There shouldn’t be any problems with a clear path like this.”
Wisana spoke up. He turned to look at Shindanai in the eyes, pressing his lips slightly.
“If this guy and I go at full speed, we should be able to get to the area first. But the thing is that I don’t want to get ahead of your units that far, or this undercover plan will be exposed right away.”
After listening, both Nuchjaree and Tunwa glanced at the guys from the special attack unit’s uniform. They were dressed in a common member of the guild, which included a light grey vest and a plain shirt. Also, they were wearing beanie hats to cover most of their heads as well.
“You’re right,” Tunwa said. “If you’re too outstanding, they will know instantly that our force has both you and Shin tagging along. They might call out for their support before we can ever call ours. And in that case, this will turn into a tough fight right away.”
Everyone nodded in agreement.
“Anyway, I still doubt if our support will come and save us in time. Because from the field here to our base is many kilometers away, you know.”
Nuchjaree said, glancing toward her back.
She did not like the plan in the first place. Maybe that was because it was not designed by Maysa only. There were also some details put in by the chiefs from the other guilds, too. Especially that jackass William guy.
“Come on now,” Wisana said in a cheerful voice like he could hear what his friend was thinking. “The other side wouldn’t have guessed that I would be in a battle this early. So, there shouldn’t be those top-tier players from the enemy army coming out today either. Also, William would probably think that I have to take a risk alone in the battle without Shin. See, this is unexpected for him as well. So, let’s not overthink it.”
“I totally don’t like this situation,” Tunwa said in a harsh voice. “We’re not only fighting with the other army but fighting with ones from the same side as well. I’m so sick of these jealous people. Damn it.”
After his words, Wisana curled up a bright smile, holding his hand up to pat his shoulder softly.
“There’re many kinds of people, and you don’t have to care about some of them too much, Tun. It’s like we and them are living in separate worlds.”
“I’m afraid that we’d get stabbed in the back someday, especially you, Wisana. He’s so openly coming after you.”
Everyone let out a sigh at his words, including Shin, who was usually stone-cold, too.
“Let’s forget about that for now.” Wisana cut them off again. “Right now, we need to focus on the battle that is happening. Our tasks are to counter the enemies, send me to a point where I will fire the flare to call in our support, and then we cast a spell to capture the area. You two have to do anything to push them out of the mining, understood?”
“Yeah.”
Nuchjaree and Tunwa accepted it in a steady voice.
At the same time, the owner of those purple eyes turned to catch Wisana’s again, before he nodded as confirmation that he was ready to fight anytime.
“Alright! Now we just have to wait for the start signal.”
Wisana said, then looking at the spot where he was going out to fight. The area in the middle of the map was sealed off by a light spell, to prevent the armies from getting in there and setting their weapons before the war started. Moreover, the spell could create fairness in the first battle for both sides the most.
It was not different from those racehorses waiting to be released from the stalls now.
They only waited for the start signal. There was no turning back from here.
Thinking about it, a sweat streamed down Wisana’s cheek. The war was about to begin, and his instinct was alarming him that there was something not right, ...like they were going to be in trouble!
“Um! Papa!”
Suddenly, there was a whine coming from inside Wisana, getting the others’ attention right on him. A second later, an information window popped open in front of Wisana, followed by a live image of a black-haired girl with big round amber eyes, looking adorable, and a girl with blonde hair, who seemed terribly busy because she had to carry the little girl and her condition had become all messy.
“You look like a huge bomb’s been dropped on you, Jinnie,” Tunwa said in a joyful voice.
“You’re not funny, Mister Tunwa.” She snapped at him right away. “Master, Mo’s insisting on coming out to find you. I have no idea how to stop her now. Could you please talk to her?”
After listening to that, Wisana let out a slight sigh, before turning to smile at his daughter on the screen. He saw that there were many types of toys scattered everywhere in the background already. Clearly, Jinnie was trying her best to take care of the little girl, but it was still not enough to please her.
“Don’t be stubborn, Mo.” The father gave her a soft smile. “...Papa already told you to stay in there for a while, didn’t I? I brought you with me today to chill with the view. And if you behave with Jinnie, I promise to let you play outside. How does that sound?”
Hearing that, the girl frowned like she did not like the idea, while her father and his friends were laughing, because the sulky face of little Mona Lisa looked so adorable!
“Come on now, baby, don’t sulk.” Wisana gave her a sweet smile. “Be a good girl and listen to what Papa says, okay?”
“Do you understand, little Mo?”
Tunwa interrupted playfully, poking his finger on the screen as well clearly just to make little Mo annoyed. Even though they were communicating through the screen, the little girl still looked like she was going to launch herself out of there to bite that finger off in the most furious way. And that satisfied Tunwa so much.
“Your baby’s reaction is fun.”
