Chapter 298: Black Dragon “Sarquros” Part II
Chapter 298: Black Dragon “Sarquros” Part II
“A ...alright, then we hurry in and take an egg out to get this over with.”
Wisana tried to speak in a harsh voice to encourage himself again. He could not stop thinking that his back felt exposed and insecure completely without Maysa by his side, damn it. (And somehow, he felt frightened even more with this evil kid, because he did not know when she would get annoyed at him and turn that scepter against his back!)
“One more thing.” Angie continued. “We should use less voice when we’re in there as well. Try to communicate with the hand signs.”
“Hand signs?” Wisana raised his eyebrows. “You mean those signs that our guild uses during monster hunting? You know how to use them, too?”
Hearing that, Angie waved her hand around her mouth, moved it down to slide past her throat, and then pointed forward. Those were simple signs for “Shut up and keep moving,” making Wisana snort out once more.
Well, who would have thought that she knew how to use the signs, too, since she was always on the back up line on the hunts, not in the front line to counter with the monsters like him who was more familiar with using hand signs?
If it had turned out like this, he guessed that Nam probably had gotten this kid into “Nemesis’s hand signs class” before.
He thought, before nodding and making a hand sign in reply as “Let’s get inside.”
Angie gave him a thump up as in “Okay.”
After that, they both turned their lights on. Angie made the tip of her scepter glow with a soft aura that did not radiate any heat or hurt their eyes at all, and that should be enough to avoid dragons’ eyes. Meanwhile, Wisana summoned three magic marbles out, making them float around him.
They did not wait any longer to go straight inside the cave. It was around three a.m. at the time. The sky was so clear and open that the moonlight could shine upon the ground brightly. And for a split second, it reflected on the eyes of something behind some bushes in front of the cave, those yellow eyes that were flashing with revenge!
----------------
The atmosphere inside the cave was difficult to describe, but something for sure, some spots could be hot like they were standing by a barbecue stove, and some spots could be icy cold like they were in a refrigerator. In such a situation, the two who were walking quietly in the cave did not know what kind of coats they should put on to protect their bodies from the temperature at all.
Wisana also felt amazed by this dungeon a lot. It was really a dragon, because of its enormous space. The walkway was like a spiral staircase that went around, going down the cave. And out of the walkway, there was just an empty pit that no one knew how many meters deep it was, but it was too dark to see the bottom.
There were some cavities in the ceiling of the dungeon for the moonlight to get through so that they could see in here. The wall on the side that was not the pit had some holds and cavities as well, and Angie signed him not to go in any of them because those led to dragon’s nests...
Lucky for them that they came to complete this quest in the nighttime because dragons lived and hunted for food in the daytime and slept in at night just like normal humans. That did not mean they could not hunt during nighttime though. Like Angie said, their eyes could detect the heat, so they were able to do this kind of thing easily.
‘Stop.’ Wisana made a hand sign,
‘What?’ Angie signed back.
The older one did not reply. He just got Jinnie out. And when she appeared, she appeared with dazzling sparks and a BINK! Sound even, making Angie make a nervous face as she looked around cautiously.
‘What the hell are you doing? They’re gonna know we’re here.’ She made a hand sign at him.
‘Sorry. I forgot to turn off her sound effects.’ Wisana hurriedly made a sign to apologize.
‘What’s wrong? Don’t stop for too long. It’s not safe.’
Angie did a hand sign to him intensely. If she could talk here, she would have thrown a big combo of insults at this guy by now for doing something brainless!!
‘Well, Master’s curious that if we’re not going inside the dragon’s nest, then we won’t be able to find a dragon egg, right? Also, all dragons are resting and sleeping right now, and the mother dragons have to be brooding their eggs anyway. So, how are we supposed to steal it?”
Jinnie talked through the secret voice channel, and her words made Angie stunned.
Well, yeah, she totally forgot about this point.
After that, the little girl looked at that cheeky man and saw that he was smiling wryly back at her. And she started feeling annoyed somehow. Was there really something that this guy could notice that she could not? This was so irritating!!
‘Then what do we do?’ Angie made a hand sign back at him in reply.
“Master asks if we should wait until the morning to continue the quest? Maybe until they leave their nests for hunting.”
Jinnie asked according to what her master said. Hearing that, Angie let out a long sigh and did a hand sign by pointing at her watch. Then the older one nodded wearily and downcastly.
They did not have time to wait until the next morning. He could not forget that there was another quest after this one as well. They would not make it to the major meeting in time!
Everyone could feel that dead-end squeezing around them now. The two had to stop and rethink their plan now. Wisana tried looking around like he was finding a way to avoid fighting as much as possible. Angie was, too. She did not want to make it loud and messy either, because honestly, dragons were not the monster that they should mess with at all!
“Well, there’s not any kind of dragon that hunts at nighttime?”
Jinnie was the one asking this question, prompting both of them to look at her before looking at each other.
“Yes, there’s a few of them.” Angie made a sign. “But...”
“There is?”
Angie had not yet finished with her signing, this troublemaker just turned and grabbed her shoulder instantly, making the one who was approached so suddenly pause right away.
“If there is, then this is it. Master says that we don’t have time to be picky anymore. Anyway, does this dragon that hunts at night lay eggs, too?”
Angie’s face looked a little awkward. But finally, she nodded, and that made Wisana grin brightly, hurriedly holding his finger up in accepting the plan. Angie was speechless as she got dragged along by the stronger one, even though she wanted to disagree with this so badly.
“Then please lead the way, Miss Angie.”
And Jinnie even asked her that with her sweet voice, the little one could only let out a long sigh, then nodded grudgingly.
These guys were the ones asking for this, ...she thought.
For the record, they did not have the right to complain about it later. They had to know that the night monsters were a lot tougher than those that came out in the daytime. And for a dragon that hunted at night, no doubt how difficult it could be.
Tonight really seemed to be a long night...
Thinking about that, Angie let out a long sigh.
