Chapter 296: Rhythm of the Moon Part V

Chapter 296: Rhythm of the Moon Part V

“Well, this’s kind of worth walking 15 meters, though.” The man pushed himself up, before opening his inventory window to grab some pixie potion out. “Maple of Songs, huh? If it wasn’t so close to a brutal dungeon like Drago Hild, this place could have been a beautiful place for a picnic.”

Wisana said as he held up the pink potion bottle to drink, and the physical exhaustion was all dispelled instantly. After that, the tall man started exploring again, until he stopped by the moderate size pond.

“This problem is from here, huh,” he said, rolling his sleeves up and putting his hand into the water. “Um, ...it looks like plain, normal water. There’s nothing special about it. That Lex guy said that if we fill the water inside the bottle, the water will turn golden, right?”

“That’s right.”

Jinnie added after she finished setting up a monster repellent light in front of Angela’s feet. She grabbed the bottle to collect the moon water and handed it to Wisana.

“That guy said if we don’t solve the puzzle first, the water we put in the bottle will only be just normal pond water,” Wisana spoke and tried scooping up the water from the pond, and it was obvious that the water in the bottle was still clear like plain water.

“Obviously.” He said, pouring the water back into the pond.

The master and his AI caught eye for a moment, while they were thinking silently. For Wisana, this could be his most difficult quest, because he was never good at solving puzzles like this.

But if this was Maysa, she would probably have solved this within a blink.

“Master, look.”

Jinnie’s voice got him to turn and see a small wooden sign that was placed in front of the pond. Wisana hurriedly curled up a happy smile. At least he found the first clue now.

Use the songs to worship the god of the moon, and the light of the night shall open the way to those golden sparks of the rill.

A question mark popped up in their minds at the same time. Wisana’s amber eyes rolled to catch Jinnie’s for a moment and saw that the other did not quite understand the clue of this puzzle either. All they knew was that it looked like a jukebox with a slot to insert coins, and there were 4 genres of music to choose from.

“So, we both have no clue, huh?” He looked in her eyes and sighed. “But it says to insert some coins here so, let’s give it a try.”

After speaking, Wisana held out his hand to his AI who knew what he wanted and gave him a golden coin with the letter P carved on it. It was the coin in Pride’s currency. Without hesitation, he inserted the coin into the slot right away.

CLINK!

There was a ringing sound coming from the sign, followed by a dazzling light beam coming from the moon striking the maple tree without any impact of a wind blow. But the beam that went through the leaves down to the water below was becoming an image of something.

“What is that?”

Wisana raised his eyebrows when the light had turned into figures of five guys standing still on the water with their heads down.

“Who the hell are they? Do I have to fight them?”

One moment later, those guys tilted their heads up to stare at Wisana at the same time, making the one who was standing on the shore jump. Those guys were all wearing masks. And the masks were ones of those that were mostly worn by some heavy metal bands.

“Wait, hold on, aren’t they Whisper of Satan, a metal band from the U.S.?”

Wisana started creasing his lips. ...Yes! That was really one of the famous bands from the U.S. and it was the kind of band that he hated, because...

WELCOME TO THE NIGHT COVERED IN BLOOD!!!!

SLIT YOUR WRIST UP TO TEAR THE CIRCLE OF THE SONGS FROM DARK WORLD. AND CREATE THE NEW WORLD WITH ONLY THE RED BLOOD MOON, ROARRRRRRR!!!

A second later, Whisper of Satan, the band started doing their thing, which was introducing their followers to the song of Satan by screaming out with such a loud and long voice that it made Wisana and Jinnie flinch back for a moment.

For Wisana, he hated this kind of music the most for reasons. Firstly, he could only understand the first half of the song or the song where the single had not yet turned into something else that liked screaming some alien languages, that only those heavy metal heads could understand.

WORRRRRGH!!! WARGH! WARGH!! WARGH!!! ROARRRRRR!!!

Secondly, these guys really enjoyed loud music in the way that he and Jinnie had to hold their hands up to cover their ears. However, their eyes were still widening in shock and confusion at what this sign was trying to imply!

And importantly, what the hell was this guy singing about right now?!!!

BANG!!!!

But the band of Satan could not continue with their song for too long, because there was a destroyer beam striking them from above, making them stunned as they looked up in the sky with mouths wide open and fingers making the devil horns sign. And then, they all disappeared. Both Wisana and Jinnie could only blink at that a couple of times, before turning to the direction that was supposed to be the cause of the thunderbolt at the same time.

“Shut up. People are sleeping here. Why did you keep yelling in worship of Satan at this time?”

Angela sleepily got up in her extremely drowsy stage. One of her hands had her favorite specter, pointing to the pond. And they knew from the first glance that she was the one who cast the intimidating spell just now.

The youthful face yawned a little, before laying herself down and going back to sleep like nothing had happened.

Wisana was just blinking at what he saw, feeling his nervous sweat dropping somehow.

“Well, at least we know that doesn’t matter.” He said and then turned his attention to the wooden sign again.

Apart from heavy metal, there were three more kinds of music which were pop rock, R&B, and classical. And from what he saw, he started to get a headache somehow...

“I guess that maybe one of these music genres is the one that unlocks the golden water in this pond, ...probably.”

Wisana said with a weary face because he had no idea which one it was.

“I guess we have to play all of them to find out.”

Jinnie suggested. And Wisana grudgingly nodded in agreement and took another coin from the AI.

“We should try something softer this time, Jinnie. How about R&B, it seems to be the safest one here.”

For a little fact, R&B stood for “Rhythm and Blues,” it was a mixed genre that was popular in the U.S. Most of the singers were black, and this kind of music focused on singing in high notes with modern sounds and instruments. It could be told apart from the other genres by how there were several notes in one singing word, this was also called drawing out the note.

After inserting the coin, the dazzling light shone upon the Maple of Songs once again. And that was the moment Wisana realized why people called this tree “Maple of Songs.”

This time, there appeared a woman with long, light-brown hair sitting on the rock at the center of the pond. The soft silver moonlight that was shining on her honey skin made her look beautiful like an angel. An electronic keyboard sound was played along softly, followed by the singing of a chorus that was unknown as to where it came from.

“Come on, ...this time it’s Yuna Ito, the R&B queen from Japan?”

Wisana spoke up wearily, and what he could even do about it was to sign, over and over again. How many music shows did he have to endure before he could solve this puzzle anyway? He had to admit that this song made it a lot easier though, because it was a lot more enjoyable than heavy metal earlier!

“Looks like it’s going to be a long night for me.” He said as he rubbed his temples out of tiredness.
