Chapter 283: Battle and The Mist Part I
Chapter 283: Battle and The Mist Part I
“What’s up, Da? How’s it going with your work?”
A sweet voice spoke softly, making a tall man with long blond hair tied up in a ponytail turn to look at the owner of the voice in the eyes. His soft hair was delicately waving according to his movement. Those lips on his attractive face were curling up into a smile in greeting the newcomer.
“It’s going well, Anne.”
His deep, hoarse voice that was contrasting with his look replied. Thada was standing on a balcony that looked like one in a large theater. His chair was made of blue velvet. And there was a stage setting down there to his back as well.
“How about you? How much have you been making progress? You know, at least you have to have the report about the number of the guilds that are joining this war for me by now, Gorgeous.”
The tall man asked with a smile. He was in the usual GM uniform which was a white long coat with black stripes on both sides of the shoulders and the logo “Game Master” on the back.
“I finished that already.”
The unbothered words of the slim woman who was walking up the stairs. Today, she had tied her hair in a loose bun so she could work more agilely. Rattana, or GM Anne, proceeded to open an information window up and pushed it toward the other.
“Ton just finished collecting the data and sent it to me a moment ago,” she said smilingly.
Hearing that, Thada swept his eyes through the information in front of him, carefully reading it.
“How many guilds are there?”
“Approximately 850 guilds.”
Thada whistled at that, while his amber eyes were caught by an interesting name on the screen, then he cured up an amused smile.
“Those guys are joining this year, huh, William Star guild. I wonder what kind of hilarious tricks they would perform. I’ve always been looking forward to this clown’s guild, you know?”
Rattana let out a harsh sigh at these rude words from the man in front of her.
“Why did you say something like that? You’re a GM. If someone else heard that, our team would surely be disreputable.”
“Come on, I was just kidding.”
He sighed as well, feeling worn by how strict his friend was. After that, he continued reading.
“The four gods won’t miss this as well,” he said, smiling amusedly. “I don’t know if they will do something that excites me again or not, especially that beast’s guild.”
“Do it or not, it doesn’t have anything to do with you anyway.”
Rattana placed her hands on her waist as she scolded him. And she even made the look in her eyes that implied him to stop thinking about picking a fight with other players ever, and that he should not forget that he was still on probation as well! Thinking about this, Rattana let out a long sigh, before changing the topic.
“How’re those two new kids doing?”
“Yeah?” Thada drawled his voice without looking at her, before parting his lips a bit when he realized what she asked. “They’re fine. I just had them assist the staff around the town, and they seem to adjust well to the work. There shouldn’t be a problem.”
Hearing the answer, Rattana clicked her tongue out of displeasure.
“I don’t really get along with them well though.”
Thada paused a little.
“Why’d you say that?”
“Well,” She shook her head slightly. “Their vibe feels off, and I don’t really like their personalities. They seem shady somehow.”
The man laughed at that. He took his eyes off the screen to show her an amused smile.
“And not because they’re from the head office that makes you frown like this?”
Rattana did not have anything to argue with that, so she just let out a hard sigh, before turning her face away. And that made Thada have to try to cover his laughter.
Ever since the incident in Dores 4 months ago, the Pride company, especially the GMs, has been harshly blamed by the media. The main topic that they attacked at them the most was about the efficiency of the GMs on the Thai server was too low.
Even though those chief executives had made a statement about what happened and that it was not the GMs’ fault at all, the head office of Pride still refused to listen to their excuses. It was not the GMs’ fault, but just a little mistake could ruin Pride’s reputation.
So, they solved the problem by sending two GMs from the head office to support, saying that the staff crew of Pride Thailand had too few members. And that made Rattana irritated quite a lot, but she grudgingly kept quiet about it because Thada who was the head of the GMs did not argue with that. So, who was she to object?!
“Do you have anything else, Boss? If not, I’ll head back to work now!”
Rattana purposedly stressed on the sentences with a harsh voice. Thada laughed quietly at that, while he was reading on the screen again.
“Come on, what are you frustrated about, Anne? In preparation for a major event like this, having two more professional GMs from the head office to help is labor-saving for us, right?”
“Sure. What right do I have to say otherwise when this is your decision, Boss.”
“Come on, I might be able to take it when you’re speaking to me so formally, ...but calling me boss kind of gets me a goosebump.” Not just saying, the man also rubbed his arm with a creeped-out gesture.
“Aw! Sorry, I didn’t know that. I saw the new staff calling you Boss, so I thought that you liked it!”
“You’ve done a lot better at being sarcastic now, even though you still look so adorable doing so anyway.”
He said and winked at her, making the listener make a snorting sound out of her throat as she turned her face away with a bit of blushing on her cheeks. After Thada checked through the information, he pushed the window back at her.
“Everything’s alright here. You might want to go back to work now.”
“Sure!”
She barely waited for permission. After she got her information window back, she turned back, walked down the stairs, and disappeared from Thada’s sight so fast. The man chuckled after she was gone, before turning his attention to the staff that was setting the chairs in the corners of this theater neatly.
His pretty face flashed satisfaction for a moment because in the information of the guilds that confirmed with the staff in joining the war, there was that one name on the list that made Thada both glad and excited.
“Finally, I get to see your true skill, Vincent. Let’s see how much you’ve improved in the last few months.”
Those words came out of his mouth with a soft smile, even though those eyes did not look like he was happy at all.

The atmosphere here was cloudy and foggy. The ground was wet and muddy with a swamp overflowing with water. In a silent alley between the mountains on the southern part of Ziggard, there was only the sound of footsteps echoing through the area. The surroundings were lonesome. There was no one else or any monster here, and that got him creeped out somehow.
“Are you sure that it’s here, Jinnie?”
The man asked in a shaking voice. His breath was exhaled out into white smoke, showing that the temperature here was quite low. The pair of amber eyes were looking around the place, and when he did not see any being around, he got strangely concerned now.
After a while, there was a “Bink!” sound coming from beside him, followed by a figure of a gorgeous girl named Jinnie, who had been modified to have a cute ringtone every time she appeared, fitting her cute name.
“I’m positive that it’s here, Master.”
