Chapter 279: The Upgraded Nemesis and Major Meeting Part IV
Moving on a little bit further, there were residential tents for general members of the guild. It had become like a small community already with many kinds of shops and stores that were run by NCPs. Snack shops, restaurants, and coffee shops were always in service for the guild members.
Also, Wisana had asked permission to have a drink place with alcoholic beverages in the camp as well, so the chief of staff had to grudgingly approve with the condition that the shop could only open from 8 p.m. to not later than 2 a.m., and the underage players were forbidden from the store totally. Everyone was not quite pleased with that, but they had to keep quiet, or the NCP bartender of the guild would be exiled from the camp for sure.
Walking past the community zone, there were tents for item producers. This unit had three tents, including the “General items unit” tent with a green label. The tent with a red label for the “Combat items unit” and the last one with a blue label was the “Equipment items unit” tent. These tents were isolated from the others because there were many accidents that occurred with scary explosions.
After that, it was a tent reserved for guild members who had major positions only. It could be called the head office of the guild, and of course, it had to be the grandest tent in the base. Inside the tent, there were office rooms, a living room, and a large meeting room, that only members with the position of the chief unit and higher could use. Apart from this, the guards outside the door would keep them away.
And right now, Wisana and Manoch had walked inside the tent already. The four NCP guards by the door did not fail to salute the two generals of Nemesis, making them do the same back, before getting in.
The tent might look like a plain tent from the outside, but the inside was totally different. Because its interior design did not look any different from some fancy offices in Tristan, the capital at all. The marble floor was raised slightly above the ground with a small staircase in front of the tent door. To the right of the hallway, there was a living room that did not light up the light crystal in the corners of the room, making them know that it was just a room with a sofa without anyone there right now.
On the other side of the hallway, many desks were placed in the room, looking like a typical office room which was also empty. So, the guys looked directly at the room at the end of the hallway instead.
“What, they’re all inside the meeting room already?” Manoch spoke up. “Why’d they have to be so rushed?”
“We should hurry up, then. Seems like we’re so late now.”
Wisana commented, before walking straight to the door. He knocked on it a couple of times before turning the knob to open the door. He saw a long wooden table, the first thing in the middle of the room. Every light crystal was lit up, making the room bright. And every eye from people in there was gazing at the guys instantly.
“You’re late, leader Vincent, chief Manoch...”
The scolding was the first greeting that came from the one sitting by the corner of the table. Those light grey eyes were staring at the men threateningly, making Manoch who was standing behind Wisana peek his head out of there to yell.
“I had to go check on the orders that were delivered in front of the camp. How about you took so long to log in to the game, keeping me waiting forever, how’s that acceptable?”
“I’m sorry, but I’ve been in the game since twenty minutes ago. Also, the appointment for the meeting was 10 o’clock. So, you two are...” She took her pocket watch out. “...10 minutes late.”
“Huh? Are you trying to pick a fight?”
“Alright, guys, since we’ve been so late, we should start the meeting now. I apologize for that, Maysa. And you, get to your seat, Manoch.”
Wisana said with a different tone of voice. The meeting always had a strange atmosphere that made his personality shift day to night like this. At the table, most of the seats were already taken, leaving only the head of the table and somewhere around the center.
“Sorry. I went to check on the magic warrior office.”
The black-haired man said with a gentle voice, before taking the head of the table seat next to the girl who was the owner of the decisive voice a while ago. Hearing that, she just shook her head slightly at him, before speaking briefly.
“It’s okay. Don’t be late again. You’re the guild leader, you should be acting like a role model.”
Wisana nodded at her words, before looking at Waree who sat next to another side of him. And the one who was both his sister and the deputy leader of the guild smiled softly in reply.
Wisana was not surprised why Maysa suddenly acted cold toward them like this.
Right now, she was dressed in a neat shirt that made her look so good in another mood. The white shirt with a blue scarf with slight pleats as the symbol of the Nemesis. She was wearing a short black skirt and white stockings, totally making her look so imposing as the chief of staff.
And the reason she had to act so distantly like this toward Wisana even though they were lovers was a part of the play. The biggest stage play was that they did not have any special feelings for each other. They had to play it according to the roles that were designed by Manoch’s marketing plan to gain respect from the guild members in their leaders as well.
Thinking about this, Wisana and Maysa could only sneakily let out a long sigh. Even though they had to sneakily hold hands under the table to tell the other not to mind how they acted, they both understood the point well. Anyway, there were only five people who knew about the secret. The rest seemed to believe this role-playing without a doubt because the atmosphere in the room started to get stressful since the chief of staff spread her coldness all over the room...
“Uh... the chief of the field unit and the chief of the intelligence unit aren’t here. They’re out to finish their jobs.”
“I knew that. I’ll bring them in to talk later.”
Maysa replied, unbothered as she brought the papers that had all the information she had researched on the table.
“Then, let’s start the meeting now, shall we?” Wisana said in a gentle voice, while everyone was sitting straight and Wisana was placing his hands on the table with fingers joining.
“As you already know, we’re about to get to the war period in a few days. And the general detail of the event, it’s known to occur every four years, and it doesn’t have any terms and conditions to join in, except for one thing; we have to join as a guild.”
Then Wisana glanced at each one at the table who was already staring at him like they were looking forward to what he was about to say next.
“Our Nemesis will be one of the guilds that join the war, of course.”
Waree added in a polite voice, making the others smile like they were satisfied, while some of them were whispering to each other.
“I know you’re probably glad about that or concerned that I might not join the war since we’re a new guild that hasn’t yet completed its preparations and has no experience in the war,” Wisana said. “Well, to ignore the fun thing that is right there in front of us is not really like me either. But you might have already known that, since I’m your number one troublemaker anyway, right?”
