Chapter 278: The Upgraded Nemesis and Major Meeting Part III
Chapter 278: The Upgraded Nemesis and Major Meeting Part III
“After her looks have changed, the class seems to be instantly popular. I told you that Lala was a hidden gem. And combined with the sweet gentle Jinnie, even a haunted house could turn into the 7th heaven as well.”
Manoch said with a delighted smile, feeling proud about his marketing tactic that had saved the magic warrior class a lot. He called this plan, “Luscious like girls.” And it worked really well with how they had to change the tough exam to not be in the brutal Sander’s way anymore.
Because first off, his quest was to hunt the “Green mushroom boss” that lived around the area with whatever method to pass the test. And the result was like before. A month had passed, and no one could complete the quest, even though there were many players applying for the class.
Then Maysa said that if it kept going like this, even if there were twenty more pretty girls like Jinnie, this class would go broke eventually. So, Wisana had to beg his master to lower the difficulty of the quest from killing the boss to finding an item from the monster around here. Of course, he said no, but then Wisana told him that he would not let Jinnie help at the office again. So, Sander agreed in the end, even though he got sulky after that and went on a trip without contacting them back for weeks.
“When that uncle isn’t around, his business seems to be going really well.”
Manoch cracked into a loud laugh as he chased the last dinosaur inside the camp successfully.
“If that master heard you, he would cast you out to the border for sure,” Wisana added amusedly. “But honestly, your ‘luscious like girls’ plan unexpectedly works. Especially with Lala, she’s pretty after the makeup.”
He commented, before looking at Lala’s recent look. She cleansed the mascara off. Her hair which was once messy was straightened up, letting it fall nicely on her back. Her lips were now covered in a pink lip gloss that looked way better than the old one. Even though the look made her lose balance and walk slantingly for a long while, it strangely fit her after she could adjust herself to it.
“Actually, I think it’s not Lala who was attractive to the customers this much,” Manoch said as he crossed an item on his to-do list out. “But it’s that perfect-looking girl.”
He spoke, tilting his chin to the other girl, who was perfect in every aspect, from how she spoke to her manner and her beauty. Seeing that, Wisana smiled widely, because the moment he looked at her from afar, the pretty girl noticed and waved at him so cutely that Wisana could not help but wave back.
“I’m glad that I found a clone figure for Jinnie to use like this.” The young merchant grinned hideously. “She’s the best at attracting customers. Every task she does makes everyone love her, both men and women. Especially when she’s in a maid costume. Like, woah, if she wasn’t an AI, I would definitely have proposed to her already. I’m jealous of you for having such a sweet perfect AI by your side like this.”
“...Well,”
Wisana shrugged, unbothered.
“Where is Tun and Nuch though? They logged in before me for quite a while, didn’t they? They didn’t answer my call either.”
“Oh, Tun and Nuch have been on a trip to another town already,” Manoch replied as he put that checklist board back into his inventory. “Seems like the field unit and the intelligence unit have some unfinished business to do. So, they’re not going to be at the meeting today. I think Tun has to go after a rare item from Leviathan, and he might have dragged the mages and range-attack player into the ocean by now. And for Nuch, she took her team to investigate some information in Tristan.”
“Freaking great. I assigned them the tasks a decade ago, and they decided to do them today? They’re definitely skipping the meeting on purpose.”
“Well, since when did they endure sitting still for once? I’ve never seen them focusing on one thing for longer than two minutes either, not even eating that they take like 1 minute to finish the meal.”
Hearing that, the man laughed, before sending the other the look to imply that they should get inside the camp as well. And Jinnie seemed to be too busy over there to be able to serve him for a while.
“Anyway, why were you looking for me?” Manoch asked like he just realized it.
“Well, I read the Pride magazine yesterday and saw that there were many new items released, so I just want to ask you which one seemed cool, and which did not, and would you be able to make the cool ones for me.”
“That’s alright. I’ve been studying those items lately, so I ordered many raw materials to try making one already.”
“Great, keep me updated with that as well.”
“Sure,” Manoch replied smilingly, before walking back inside the camp. “How’s Chiang Mai, though? Does your mom like her daughter-in-law-to-be?”
“HAHAHA, about that...”
“Leader Vincent! Boss!”
They had not gone very far from the spot and there was a bawling voice coming up with a tiny boy of the age that was not older than 16. He was rushing toward them from inside the camp at full speed, and there was terror on his face as well.
The newcomer was small. He had buzz-cut hair with a cliff off in the shape of lightning, which he said was very “slick.” He was in a worn-out tank top, a pair of ripped jeans, and leather heat-resistance gloves that those blacksmiths wore.
The two men looked at him before they shrugged.
“What’s up, Enrique?” Manoch asked.
Regardless of how much he wanted to answer the question, the small one who just ran at full speed all the way here could only place his hand on his knees, curling as he tried to catch his breath. He was trying to tilt his provoking face which was covered in sweat up to look the chief of finance in the eyes.
“There you are. I’ve been looking for you for a long time, Boss.”
“I told you that I would be here checking on my orders. What makes you look so panicked like this?”
“W...well, the chief of staff urgently needs you two in the meeting. She said that the meeting is about to start, and if you two don’t show up in time, she’s going to cut the budget on our blue item production unit. That’s why I had to hurriedly find you bosses everywhere.”
After that, the buzz-cut boy almost fell to the ground, making Manoch and Wisana shake their heads wearily.
“May’s such a psycho for always threatening the children under my care. She’s too stingy to approve of our guild’s building, and she has to be a bully, too?”
After speaking, the long-faced merchant stomped his feet so hard that it almost looked like he was running inside the camp instantly. Meanwhile, Wisana placed his hand on the boy named Erique’s shoulder, implying that he did a good job, before following inside as well.
The area of Nemesis camp included dozens of large-sized tents, and each one had a name sign on the top of it clearly. For example, the first tent at the entrance of the camp was the “travel animals’ tent” and the “Beast monsters’ tent” that was taken care of by those players from the animal care classes for the guild to use.
Moving on a little bit further, there were residential tents for general members of the guild. It had become like a small community already with many kinds of shops and stores that were run by NCPs. Snack shops, restaurants, and coffee shops were always in service for the guild members.
