Chapter 246: Strike Back! Part VIII

Chapter 246: Strike Back! Part VIII

“Why did you ask, Miss?” Jinnie asked back.

“I need to know everything about your ability. Just in case we are in an unexpected situation, I’ll be able to plan our moves accurately. Also, you seem to be on a high level, just like your master.”

Then she smiled sweetly, before glancing at Wisana who was looking at her in the eyes.

“You speaking like this, it means that the staff outside still can’t fix the system from the hack, right?” Wisana asked.

“Worse,” Maysa replied. “Not only that they still don’t know how to fix the system, but there are also brutal monsters coming out nonstop. That Thada guy’s been trying to figure out how to fix it right now. He just sent Angie to help GM Anne hack the system back.”

“Angie?”

The listener raised his eyebrows confusedly, having no idea how a little child could help with this.

“Don’t underestimate her. That little mage was the one who got us in here.”

“Really?”

The man said amazedly, before letting out a long sigh.

“So, what should we do next? I don’t think I can fight anything or anyone if my MP is still short like this,” Wisana said.

“I’m trying to figure that out. But for now, we need to go to GM Anne at the center of the town, and we’ll talk about what to do next after that. ...But at least, let me plan for an emergency, just in case. I have a feeling that something worse could happen.”

“Is that so? Then I think you should trust your feelings. At least it’s a lot more reliable than my looking-for-trouble instinct.”

Hearing half joke half serious words of this irritating man, she grinned widely right away.

“Sure.”

GROWL!!!!

A growl was heard resoundingly all over the area, followed by dozens of Chimeras that were surrounding someone there. Moreover, each of them was baring their shiny fangs and drooling like they wanted to bite the enemies in front of them to death.

“We’re surrounded now, Shin.”

An annoying voice of someone rang up with a chuckle as he held his sword up to fight, even though his body was all bruised and wounded everywhere.

“You didn’t need to tell me that.”

Shin replied in a plain voice. He could not lift one of his arms right now, because he had been cursed by that deadly fire curse, the exact same curse as the one he got previously.

How could he get attacked by the same curse again like this?!

He knew so well that it was a high-level curse that his metal blood’s ability could not prevent, but he still made a mistake and got it eventually.

But for god’s sake, in a situation like this?

“Seems like we’re going to go say hi to the god of death soon, Shin.”

Tryne, the owner of the green grass hairstyle, spoke up jokingly.

“We are?” Shin replied. “No. You’re going by yourself. I’m not going to give up that easily.”

“Cocky.” Tryne burst out laughing. “You’ve been cursed by that deadly fire, so you can’t even lift the arm right now. How are you going to fight the enemies? And my MP’s all gone, as well as the restoring potion. What we have left here is just a highway to hell.”

“Why did you have to remind me of that?”

The one who was always quiet cursed out of frustration slightly, even though his eyes did not show any emotion at all. Right now, he lifted his left hand to point the spear blade at the enemies in front of him bravely.

“If you want to give up now, then do it. But I’m not.” Shin spoke in an icy cold voice.

“Damn! What makes our brave Shin so confident like this, huh? Even though he’s in a losing situation, he’s still so positive about it. So touching. I’m about to cry now.”

“You can be sarcastic all you want, too.”

Shin replied, unbothered as he slowly closed his eyes. His calmness, which was like his main weapon, was still working efficiently. His heart was not pounding out of excitement at all. Even though they were in a crisis, his cool helped him get a grip and start figuring his way out continuously.

It was not like he was not nervous, but the nervousness was pressed down by his calmness, and that had become his wisdom and patience in a way that no one could imitate. His calmness made him flawless. The worse the crisis was, the more he could perform his abilities.

That was one of the Signetic types,

Calm Effect.

“Hey! Why are you so quiet, Shin? Are you okay? Don’t tell me that you’re in shock from being too scared.” Tryne asked with beads of sweat dropping. Moreover, the enemies that were surrounding them looked like they were ready to bite his throat off now.

“Calm down, Tryne,” Shin said in a calm voice. “There’s nothing we can’t fix. Just let me figure this out. It’s got to be a way.”

“There is, we’re dying right here, right now!” Tryne snapped.

“And you’re just going to die this easily?”

The one who was asked paused like he was surprised by the calmness of the man in front of him. In a situation like this, Shin could still keep his cool, and this was really intimidating.

“No. Who the hell would want to die?” The upset one cursed.

“That’s right. Me neither.” Shin said in a gentle voice. “...That’s why we need to take a risk.”

“With your one usable arm and my empty MP bar?”

“Yeah, with just these things.”

Hearing that, Tryne slipped out a chuckle right away. But his heart that used to be tempered had suddenly become calm again with the influence of the other man strangely.

“You’re really something, man, ...so reliable, but also scary.”

“I’ll take that as a compliment then.”

Shin replied in a monotone voice, before getting ready to fight again.

“So, you already have a plan in mind?” Tryne asked.

“Yeah.”

“What do we have to do?”

“I’m going to use the Crisis Nova to make a way for us. Then we run, as fast as we can and don’t look back, going straight to the center of the town. GM Anne should be there to help.”

“Right. That’s a simple plan. I’ll use the Crisis Nova on my weapon as well then.”

“No, you don’t have to.” Shin hurriedly disagreed. “You only have one weapon. It’ll be more of a disadvantage for us if you destroy it. Unlike me, if I destroy one, I can still summon three more out. So, you’ll just have to clear the path ahead as much as you can.”

“Okay then.”

“Another thing that you have to remember,” Shin said, looking the other in the eyes. “If one of us is down, don’t stop and turn back to help the other. Just keep running. Understand?”

“Uh-uh, you didn’t have to tell me this.”

Tryne agreed in an annoying voice, before tightening his grip around his massive sword firmly, as if it was the sign that he had always been ready for this!

Shin lifted his spear up in readiness, while Tryne was holding his sword in one of his hands and the end of the chain in the other. They both were staring at the enemies intensely, and those Chimera knew then that their enemies were about to strike back now. So, they decided to attack first!

“Now, Tryne!!”

STAB!

Without hesitation, Shin hurriedly spun and launched the Longinus at a Chimera in the front line, sending it bouncing backward and knocking the other Chimeras down right away.

“Go to hell!!!”

Tryne yelled while he was swinging his weapon around skillfully, blowing many of the Chimeras that got hit by this impulsive attack away in rows.

And that made their escape route appear instantly!

Shin did not wait any longer to start running on the way, straightly to their destination which was the center of the town immediately. And Tryne did not hesitate either. He hurriedly pulled his weapon back, before starting to run closely after Shin.

“Hurry up, Shin. Ignite the Crisis Nova now!”
