Chapter 219: Hunters Assemble Part III

Chapter 219: Hunters Assemble Part III

“And what does Na and May having a thing for each other have to do with this girl being upset right now?”

Manoch spoke up with quite a loud voice like he did not care about Maysa’s reaction anymore. Instead, he was smiling right now, satisfied that he was going to have another interesting topic to mock his childhood friend.

“Well, how can she not be upset?” Waree smiled widely. “A while ago, after they announced the winner scores from the first round, Na got the highest, right? So, do I need to remind you about the special reward for the first winner?”

“Oh...”

Manoch drawled instantly. He remembered briefly that before the competition started, GM June announced it clearly that she would give a special reward to the winner with the highest score, which was kissing them on the cheek...

“I see...” Manoch grinned right away. “I think I understand why this woman is upset now.”

Then he started laughing delightedly, before leaning closer to his best friend from childhood with a bright smile.

“You’re so bad, May.” He whispered. “I don’t know how you did it. But successfully pulling Wisana from Warunya like this, you’re the baddest. How does it feel having your first boyfriend...”

THUD!!!

The loudmouth did not finish his sentence, because he was now lying still on the floor with a red hand-shaped bruise vividly seen on his cheek. And he was even in a face-down position, and unable to get up as well.

“You talk too much!”

“O... ouch, I was just teasing you a bit.”

Manoch whined with a shaking voice, while Waree was giggling at Maysa’s reaction, showing that she was very satisfied with this. Right now, the one who was blushing red grudgingly turned her face away. ...What was wrong with these two?!

This was all that guy’s fault!

And just waited, he was totally paying back for this right after the event ended.

----------------

A-CHOOO!!

A sneeze sound came up resoundingly, making the tall one put up his hand to wipe his nose harshly a couple of times. Then he looked up at the Light Ring above his head with a worried face.

“I hope that no one’s talking about me though, especially...”

Then Wisana let out a long exhale. He touched his lips where he had been harassed a while ago, and the only thing that he feared for no reason was ...her seeing what just happened.

He did not know why...

But thinking that she had already seen it, he started to feel anxious somehow.

“What’s wrong?”

Then a voice spoke up from beside him, making him jump. He looked and saw Shin leaning against a long bench next to the fountain in Dores carefreely. Then Wisana forced a smile at him.

“Uh, nothing.” He replied, scratching his cheek. “I was just spaced out, so...”

“Don’t tell me you started to be chickened out right now.”

“No, never, bro. How could you say something so wrong aloud?”

The cheeky one smiled widely like he was challenging him, and the one who was getting provoked just snorted, before continuing to relax on the bench.

“And how long are the GMs going to keep us waiting?”

Wisana asked while he was looking around himself and seeing that many players were resting around here. Even though the cheering and yelling from the audience were so loud, the competitors were still well-focused. Some of them were sitting still, looking like they were meditating, while some of them were having a chit-chat like Shin and him were doing right now.

But it had been such a long time, and it was almost half an hour like Rattana told them as well. They still did not have any update about the final round of the Hunting Gate at all!

“Don’t worry,” Shin spoke up softly. “It’ll start in a while. You don’t have to be anxious about it. Just save your energy as much as you can, or you’ll be adverse in the competition later.”

The listener raised his eyebrows a little, before curling up an amused smile.

“Is it that tough, this Hunting Gate thing?”

“Kind of, since the event doesn’t have a fixed time period. It will end after every player dies, or their missions are successfully done.”

“And how long does the competition in the Hunting Gate event usually last?”

“Around 8 hours minimum.”

PUDD!!

The listener choked on his own saliva loudly. His amber eyes were gazing at the other one in front of him.

“8 hours? We’re about to compete in monster hunting, or building a house exactly? Why does it take that long?”

“There’re so many tactics that a newbie like you doesn’t understand yet, Vincent. But you will, once the competition starts.”

The other replied back with an emotionless face like he was unbothered by the competition’s period that could be prolonged to 10 hours at all. Seeing that, the inexperienced one made a snorting sound in his throat, before turning his face in another direction.

“You’re speaking like you’ve joined this event before,” Wisana said.

“Something like that,” Shin replied casually.

“Did you win though...?”

Getting asked like this, Shin was the one who paused, glancing at the loudmouth. Now he was not sure if the other purposedly trying to pick a fight or asking him that out of pure innocence.

“No...” Shin answered with a stiff voice.

“What? Being experienced doesn’t mean that you’ll always win, huh?” The cheeky one grinned delightedly. “You’re this skilled, still you were unable to win the last Hunting Gate anyway.”

“But I was level 45 only when I joined the latest Hunting Gate.”

Listening to this, the one who was trying to bluff the other was the one who got stunned instantly.

“For real?” Wisana raised his eyebrows.

“Yeah, I was in the first class as well.”

“What place did you make it then?”

Wisana started to have a wry smile, while the one who was asked was letting out a long sigh.

“Second.”

“You were level 45, and you got second place in the competition?!”

The quiet one nodded without changing his expression. And with the added information he just got, it made Wisana turn obviously pale.

“Why do you have to be so shocked? You also defeated Lord Inferno when your levels weren’t different from mine as well.”

“Well, that, ...you’re right.”

Wisana forced up a wry smile. Okay, he did kill Lord Inferno. But that was because he got Maysa’s brilliant plan to do so. Unlike Shin, who had been playing by himself all along. So, this guy seemed to have a monster race in him just as much as Wisana!!

“And there’s another reason you shouldn’t be shocked about me, Vincent. Four years ago, there was a 15-year-old monster winning the first place in the Hunting Gate with level 25 only.”

“25?!!”

Wisana shouted out loudly. There was a monster that was worse than Shin out there, too?!

“Was there really that kind of a monster? From what I saw in the qualifying round, I didn’t see any players with levels lower than 30 make it out alive. But this one could claim first place?!”

“Yeah, it happened...”

Shin shrugged, looking unbothered. Then he looked away.

And the one who just received incredible information was widening his eyes, before looking down wearily. ...He guessed that this event was some kind of a gathering of monstrous players surely now. This guy got second place at level 45, and there was also a legend who won first place at level 25 only as well!

Great!

Then how long would a cockroach that had only fast speed like him last in the event?!

“Anyway, why did you take off your guild coat?”

Shin asked, and that helped bring Wisana’s consciousness back to the present. The one who had his mind wandering now looked down at the shirt he was wearing, which was a Magic Warrior class black long-sleeve shirt.

"You’re still hiding? I thought you would take advantage of your fame. At least you wouldn’t have had to take the qualifying round, and the name Vincent would have made the others scared to mess with you as well.”

“I’ve been banned.”
