Chapter 218: Hunters Assemble Part II

Chapter 218: Hunters Assemble Part II

“...I know that we’ve agreed to have our son make his own decision, but he just let him into Pride like this, without telling me at all. If Alice hadn’t contacted me, would I even know what had happened to my son in this life?”

Sander slipped out a laugh at the stiff manner of the person next to him, before patting her shoulder to comfort her.

“Come on, this guy might look chill and incapable of taking anything seriously, but I’m sure that he cares about his son just as much as you do.”

“You’re backing him up again. You two always do that.”

Viola tilted her head up arrogantly. And the one who was scolded by the look in her eyes burst out laughing right away.

“He and you always fight a lot like usual. And damn, seeing you really reminds me about those old days when you two always bickered.”

“Stop talking about the past like an old man.”

The woman chuckled, before shaking her head wearily.

“But you’re still overprotective of your children. You don’t have to worry about him that much though. The kid is good. Don’t you see he won the first round with the highest score?”

Hearing that, Viola’s smile faded. She turned to look at Wisana again.

“I’m not here, because I’m worried about him.” She frowned her eyebrows tightly. “But Alice warned me that they’ve started making moves.”

The listener paused, turning to catch eyes with Viola.

“They already know? Aren’t their noses a bit too quick?”

“Not yet. For now, they don’t know who the boy is.” Viola shook her head. “But they’ve started paying attention to the boy more. Alice said that they used another system of her form to summon monsters that modified to be feral to attack the boy many times.”

“They’re testing that kid, huh?”

“Yes.” Viola nodded. “And they’re planning to do something today. That’s why I’m waiting for them here.”

“Waiting?” Sander raised his eyebrows. “Don’t tell me that you’re going to fight them? I don’t think so. You have been off Pride for a decade. Your legs have probably become rusty now.”

“Who do you think I am, huh, Sander?” Then she smiled widely. “I used to be one of the four gods who has created the legend of ‘Conqueror of Thousand,’ you know. This is not going out of the Goddess of War’s hand.”

Sander felt both amused and tired of this woman so much, so he just shook his head slightly.

“What’s your plan then?”

Viola smiled at that question. “I’ll just keep an eye on the boy, waiting for them to reveal themselves. If there’s something wrong with him, it means that they’re here.”

“So, your plan is to use your son as bait?”

“Well, if I need a big fish, I need a big bait as well, right?”

Hearing that, Sander lost all words to argue. He could only close his eyes wearily somehow, realizing from this crazy plan that this mom and her son were so alike. The son was crazily impulsive, and his mom was brutally savage. ...Sigh, so this was why she got the alias Goddess of War.

----------------

“I’ve been looking for you, May. Why couldn’t you just pick up my call? I’ve called you a thousand times. Luckily, I have my AI upgraded, so it could trace your AI’s signal.”

Suddenly a complaint was caught by the ear of Nemesis’s chief of staff, making her pause and turn to the voice. ...And after she saw her friend making an annoyed face at her, she made a snorting sound out of her throat, then turned her face away from him.

“Sorry, I have my notifications on silent.”

“Is this the excuse from someone who ordered me around to do stuff for her that almost made me cry blood?”

The pretty girl did not say anything. She was now looking in another direction without caring about him now, making the newcomer pause and raise his eyebrows confusedly. At the same time, someone was jabbing his back. So, the man with a long face and small-frame glasses looked at that person.

“Hello, Ae. I haven’t seen you for days. How are you?”

“Oh, hi, Nam. I’m fine. I’m even refreshed after seeing your face.”

After finished speaking, the happy merchant smiled widely, especially after Waree greeted him. He now felt that it was so worth it to hurry and get in a car from Tristan all night to attend the Hunting Gate here!

“How’s Na doing? I was watching him live just now and saw that this year had a qualifying round, too. And Na was showing his godly steps like that, I was afraid that people would find out his secret.”

Waree slipped out a laugh at his words right away.

“He’s okay. He wasn’t wearing the mask and took our guild’s coat off as well. So, don’t worry that he’s going to get busted. Also, I don’t think that Na would care about that anymore.”

“Yes?”

Manoch raised his eyebrows out of confusion only for a while, before he saw Nuchjaree, Tunwa, and Warunya, Wisana’s three friends walking to where he was standing.

After Tunwa noticed Manoch talking to Waree, he smiled widely.

“Hi, Manoch. You just got here?” He greeted, being the friendly person that he was.

“Yeah.” He greeted him back with a confused face he was making.

“You’re here to root for Wisana as well. Huh. Come on, let’s sit together. There’re plenty of seats here.”

“Huh? ...Uh, oh, sure, thanks.”

He went along dizzily and sat down next to Maysa. Then he glanced over to Waree, asking her without a word about why Wisana did not have to cover his identity anymore. Manoch smiled nervously. Before shifting his eyes to Maysa again.

“May, how did they know about Vincent’s true self? Didn’t you say that Na didn’t want his friends to know that he was in the game as well, and why...”

“I don’t know!”

The one who was in the bad mood cut him off sharply, making the questioner gasp, scratching his cheek.

“What’s wrong with you again, May? What are you mad about?”

“Ae, about that...”

It was Waree who pulled Manoch’s arm away from Maysa before she killed him with her gaze. Because right now, those gray eyes looked like they were so close to shooting laser beams at Manoch.

“I think it’s better not to talk to May right now,” Waree whispered to him.

“What? Why?”

“Well, she’s kind of upset about something she just saw.”

“Something, what’s that?”

The glasses guy made a confused face that made Waree giggle. Then she leaned in closer to whisper right into his ear, making Manoch get a little goosebump because of her closeness. However, the context that was put into his ear was something more shocking!

“What, they have a thing?!”

“SHHH! Quiet down.”

Waree barely caught his mouth in time. And of course, the one who was being gossiped about in such close range was gazing at him. Even though she was a bit blushing, she pretended to not care and looked away instead.

“Na and May? But she told me that Na had a crush on Warunya...”

Waree smiled widely at those words, before glancing at Maysa who was now blushing so hard.

“Aw, I don’t know when they started catching feelings, and I can’t confirm if they’re already official either. But this morning, there was...”

A-HEM!!!

After realizing that this gossip about her was going too deep in detail, Maysa pretended to cough loudly, making Manoch glance at her. While Waree was giggling like she was having fun teasing her girl-friend.

“And what does Na and May having a thing for each other have to do with this girl being upset right now?”
