Chapter 170: “Signetic Syncro” Part II
Chapter 170: “Signetic Syncro” Part II
“...My Signetic?” Wisana raised his eyebrows.
“Right. This kind of Signetic is called the Impulse. It means that you’re the type that uses instinct to decide what to do next, ...no, it hasn’t even decided yet, the Impulse will decide for you. It’s strange that it never gets the owner hurt just once. It’s an instinct that responds fast to work the user out of danger. It’s like there’s an electric current running all over the body, getting it to move on its own without you thinking or deciding what to do.
“...The Impulse?”
Hearing that, Wisana raised his eyebrows, while his brain was recalling his stories from when he started remembering things, until the present days... And yes! There was something like this happening before. Sometimes, he would move before he even thought about it. Or sometimes, he lost his memories about what happened, when he realized again, he was already in a safe situation.
That actually was the ability for the Impulse?!
“You can find some reasons to support my words now, right?” Sander asked jokingly. And seeing this awkward expression of Wisana, he then knew right away that this guy’s answer was already “Yes”.
“That’s the answer to what you haven’t understood for so long. ...And it’s a confirmation that Signetic Syncro isn’t your enemy, but it’s helped you all the time.”
“...Right.”
Hearing that, the older one smiled widely, then he drank from the calabash bottle for another big gulp.
“...So, it means that my ability is that Impulse instinct thing?”
“Yes, but that’s not all.”
Those joking words made Wisana raise his eyebrows again. The amber eyes were staring at the one in front of him like he was waiting for the answer. And Sander smiled widely as he brought his information window up and pushed it to Wisana to see.
The thing Wisana was seeing was a video of him fighting Lucy from a while ago. It was the moment when he was charging the savage NPC at the beginning of the battle.
“...Er, why do I have to watch this?”
“I want you to look at your stats graph on the right side of the screen.”
“My stats graph?”
He repeated as he looked at the screen. Then he saw a graph that showed all his abilities, including strength, speed, armor points, magic points, and intelligence. ...Most of the stats looked balanced with each other, but the one that seemed to be extreme was his speed stat that its bar almost pierced out of the chart.
“Uh... it seems normal, isn’t it?”
Wisana said with an amused smile. He was not surprised that the only good stat he had was speed like this.
“Hold on a second,” Sander said smilingly.
“Yes?”
The words made the younger one raise his eyebrows before he moved his eyes back to watch the battle on the screen. And his graph was still moving steadily, there was nothing really changed that much, ...until when Lucy was about to use the Pierce Charge to finish him in one hit.
And that was the second his graph started to get weird.
“...What is this?”
The stats graph was changing incredibly fast. Every ability bar launched up within the blink of an eye. And there was also balance in the graph, every other stat was as tall as the speed one, which almost broke through the chart.
“I’m the one who wants to ask, what is this?”
Sander said with a joking tone. He looked at the lovely disciple in front of him.
“I don’t know either. I didn’t realize that my stats launched up this high.” The troublemaker hurriedly explained himself. “...Your stats meter is being a bit nuts, or what? Like, it can be broken.”
“No, it’s not. I just bought it. Also, it can measure Lucy’s stats just fine.”
Listening to the words, Wisana scratched his cheek, glancing in another direction consideringly right away.
He could not explain what happened either. Back then, his body moved before he could even think about it. And when he realized, every move and plan was already in his head instantly, including something that he had never known before like how to use the 7 curses. He did not know either why he could use their abilities so easily like that.
“...Er, Mister Sander.” The younger one spoke.
“Yeah...”
“Is it possible that the ability of the Impulse could make us know things?”
“What do you mean?” Sander asked.
“Like when you intuitively know about something that you’ve never known before. Or like suddenly you can use a weapon that you’ve never figured out how to use before, something like that.”
Hearing that, the older one got quiet for a long while right away.
“Is that the answer to why your stats graph increased?” He asked.
“Uh... something like that. When I was fighting Lucy, suddenly I just knew about the abilities of the weapons I’d never used before. I knew what Lucy’s ability was, and how I had to deal with it, or even Lucy’s movement, and how she was going to attack...”
“BUHHAHAHA!!”
He did not finish his sentence when the master just burst out a loud laugh that even Maysa’s party who were sitting from afar had to turn to them, because of his laugh.
Moreover, Sander was slapping his knee continuously like he was satisfied with what his beloved disciple had said. And the one who got laughed at to his face smiled confusedly, not sure where to cut in, too.
"Excellent.”
Sander said for the first time after he had laughed enough, before taking a deep breath to calm himself down.
“Er... are you okay?” Wisana asked.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah.” And he raised his hand to confirm his words. “...I’m just so happy that my insight wasn’t wrong, and my prediction wasn’t wrong either.”
“Yes?”
The more the younger one listened, the more confused he got.
“Then let me ask you something,” Sander said. “...when you were fighting, did you hear some voice telling you what to do? Something like, dodge that way, attack this spot, or tell you about things?”
“How do you know?”
The one who got asked raised his eyebrows out of shock, never expecting that the man in front of him would know about the detail of his muddle disease this much. ...And yes, he heard some voices, though it was not often. But he heard a woman’s voice during the fight with Lord Orc.
“...I didn’t hear it that often. Well, ...I wasn’t even sure if that was a voice or not. Because it was likely to happen when I did not have full consciousness to remember much. But it was like my own voice telling me to do things.”
Sander nodded in understanding, before tossing the empty calabash bottle on the ground. Then, he picked up a cigar to put it between his lips as he pointed his index finger close to the tip, summoning a small fire there to light the cigar.
“It makes sense that you doubt it, boy.”
The older one said with a gentle voice, before breathing the nicotine in his lungs and breathing it out.
“The phenomenon is called Signetic Syndrome, ...it’s when you’re leaking two types of Signetic substances at the same time. And the two substances may act against each other sometimes, but it’s not dangerous.”
“Two substances acting against each other?” Wisana raised his eyebrows. “...So, I have another Sig thing in my brain apart from the Impulse, too?!”
