Chapter 171: “Signetic Syncro” Part III
Chapter 171: “Signetic Syncro” Part III
“...So, I have another Sig thing in my brain apart from the Impulse, too?!”
Seeing the shocked face of this troublemaker, Sander laughed even harder. This guy acted like he had just discovered cancer in his brain or something like that. Did he even realize that he got something so precious more than anything in his head!?
“Yes. But don’t worry, ...even though it’s exceedingly rare for someone to have two Signetic substances in them. But that’s possible. It’s a good thing, really.”
“...”
Hearing that, the cheeky one’s eyebrows frowned.
What was all this about anyway? It was hard for him to believe in something like this. This was the first time that he heard about this Sig-syn thing. And it turned out that he had two types of it in his body like this. ...So, he was not sure if he should be glad or regretful about it!
“What’s the other thing? Do you know something about it?” Wisana asked.
“Yeah..." Sander drawled, holding a hand to place on his mouth. “According to what you told me; this ability is called the Whisper.”
“The Whisper.”
“Uh-ha. ...It’s the ability to know at an intuitional level. It makes the owner learn and perceive knowledge many times faster than other people, not depending on IQ, EQ, or any other factor. You can say that when you hear something, the information will be placed in the cerebellum part of the brain accurately and processed on its own. ...The ability is very useful, you know. It can prevent you from Alzheimer’s when you get older as well. The medical profession in the U.S. has been trying to research it to be the cure of that disease right now.”
“...Er, and what does that have to do with the voice I heard?”
Wisana asked straightforwardly, thinking that the ability to learn fast had nothing to do with how he suddenly figured out how to use those weapons at all. Well, he had never learned about it before, so how did he just know about that kind of stuff?!
“The voice is the thing that makes your brain learn.” Sander smiled widely. “...The Whisper’s ability won’t wait for you to learn, but it rushes and triggers you to learn. Especially when you’re in a dangerous situation, your brain will instantly command you to find a way to survive. And the Whisper will get into the game’s system to find every information that is necessary to make a surviving plan, and then send it straight back to your brain fast in the form of the voice that you heard.”
“It can do that? I never realized.” Wisana said, raising his voice.
If that was true, then his brain would be like a supercomputer, or the internet that he could get online to search for information when he moved like that!
“Yes, it can. ...In the case that your brain was connected to the game directly like this, it’s not that hard for the Whisper to find the needed information in the game’s system. ...And of course, normal people can’t do this, because the brain wave is a complicated thing, right?”
He said, then he winked, after giving all the answers that Wisana wanted to know.
Right now, the younger one held a hand to touch his lips, while he was thinking about these incredible things tensely. ...But he was unable to not believe it because he had the evidence that supported Sander’s words already.
“You don’t have to be that tense, kid. I know this kind of thing is incredible, but it’s true.”
The older one spoke shockingly right to the point. Right now, Wisana was looking up to catch the other’s eyes, looking like he wanted to say something, but he could not.
“You’re surprised by this?” Sander asked.
“Not really. I’m more shocked. Well, I never thought that human beings had the potential to do something like this. It’s kind of beyond our limit. Er, I mean the limit of human’s ability.”
Hearing that, Sander smiled widely.
“You don’t have to understand all of it right now, kid. The Signetic is a new thing for humanity. I’ve been researching this topic, too. I’ll bring some reference papers for you next time. But you can believe me that it’s not dangerous.”
“...Yes.”
The young man said in a quiet voice.
Right. It was hard to believe. ...He started to understand now why Sander had to talk to him about this in private. Because it would not be a good idea for his friends to hear it, too.
“And these substances only leak while we’re playing the game?” Wisana asked.
“No, they don’t.” He replied, then smiled. “...It can happen outside of the game, too. But it’s not as much as it does when we’re using the brain wave, right? So, while we’re playing the game, it will trigger the players who have the Signetic to leak it more and often.”
Hearing this, Wisana frowned his eyebrows tightly.
“...The Pride company knows about this, too, right?”
“Of course,” Sander replied. “...But they will never publicize this information soon until they can test and confirm that these substances are officially safe. ...Well, who would want to mess with the brain, right. It’s a delicate organ anyway.”
“...You’re sure that it’s not dangerous?” He repeated.
“Of course, not. But it’s still not safe until the test is complete.”
Wisana cupped his hand around his chin.
“And how’s the test going now?’
“It’s going okay. They’ve succeeded in testing in live subjects for more than 80% now.”
“With humans?!” Wisana shouted out of shock.
“No, with some dolphins in Florida. Don’t worry, no animal abuse. They just do a little bit of a brain scan test. And they have confirmed that their brains have characteristics like a human’s the most.”
Hearing that, Wisana sighed out of relief, feeling glad that those scientists had humanity enough to not do a dangerous test on animals.
“Anyway, you’re a scientist?”
He asked doubtfully, feeling awkward somehow that he asked about his personal stuff, apart from asking about the game. ...But the one who got asked just grinned and winked at him.
“Something like that.” He replied with a clear voice. “I’m doing a thesis about this topic. That’s why I joined the game, where I have people with the Signetic to study. And I’ve been searching for them since then until I found you.”
Listening until now, the troublemaker paused instantly. He narrowed his eyes at the man in front of him as a strange thought popped up in his head suddenly. Then his lips curled up into an amused smile as he shook his head wearily.
“Now I understand why you like me so much. You just want me to be your lab rat.”
“Ai! Don’t say it like that.”
The older one shouted in a high-pitched voice.
“It’s true that I want you as a study case, but about I like you is true as well.”
“Yeah, that’s why you traveled all the way here to Dores.”
Hearing that, Sander let out a dry laugh, sounding like ‘Hehe,’ before filling the cigar’s smoke in his lungs again.
“It’s that my thesis tests have come to a dead end now, so I want to look for a new case study.”
“And I should help you with this? ...My rights are obviously being violated right now.”
“Come on...” The older one drawled. “...Don’t sweat over small stuff like that. In the game, I’m still your master anyway, you know. And my beloved disciple’s really not gonna help his master a little?”
