Chapter 158: The New Test Part III
Chapter 158: The New Test Part III
“It’s that there’re three more people that really want to see you.”
“Huh?” Maysa finished speaking, before pointing her finger over her shoulder for Wisana’s eyes to follow for the tenth time of the day. And this time it almost made a new record for him because it got him shocked in the way that he wished he could pass out again right now!
Right... He did a head count and it turned out to be exactly three people like she said. One of them was a golden-brown-haired guy with green eyes, the owner of an annoying face that had an obvious angry expression on it. The second one was a long-haired girl who was frowning, having her arms akimbo as she threatened to punish him. And the last one was an overly sweet, gorgeous girl who looked really awkward when she had to look up and give a wry smile.
Seeing the three newcomers, Wisana smiled nervously, before turning his back in a split second.
“I... I just realized that I have Qingming for my grandfather to attend. Excuse me, ladies and gentlemen.” But unfortunately, while he was stomping his feet away, the hand of somebody yanked on his collar before he could go anywhere.
“No, you don’t, Mister freaking Wisana. Also, your grandfather wasn’t Chinese.” It was Tunwa who objected with an icy-cold voice.
“Really? So, my grandpa lied to me this whole time?!”
“Do you really think that these lame jokes will help you get away with this, huh?” Another voice came from Nuchjaree who just walked up to join them with a completely angry face. ...If she could spit fire, she would have done so at him by now.
“No, I actually don’t, but it can buy me some time.” The cheeky one was still trying.
“Not funny!” The couple of friends yelled in unison, making the one who was trying to find an excuse turn pale.
“Come on!! I’m sorry. I’ve made a mistake. Please, forgive me.”
“Aw... it’s okay, little bro.” Nuchjaree faked a sweet voice as she caressed his cheek softly.
“We have a lot to talk about, my friend,” Tunwa added.
----------------
About ten minutes had passed after the guilty one sat on the ground, there was a big rock, acted as if it was a table, that he placed his arms on in front of him. He joined his fingers like a prisoner accepting his crime.
“That’s all that you have to confess?!” Tunwa asked loudly as he was pointing the storm lantern light at the man who was confessing his serious offenses.
“Yes, sir,” Wisana replied softly.
“You said that you’ve just started playing this game for a few days, so it means that you did not lie to us back then, when you said that you did not play this game before, right?”
“No, I did not lie, sir.” The defendant repeated.
After that Tunwa held the lantern closer to his cheeky friend just to make the guy’s eyes hurt for fun, then he made a scolding face at Wisana. “Then when I asked you to play with us and you refused, you weren’t already playing with May, right?”
“Right, sir.”
“Okay, okay.” The officer nodded, placing the lantern on the rock. Then he patted Wisana’s shoulder softly. “I’ll let you get away with this one, Na. It’s okay. If you agree to tell us everything like this, we’re not going to hurt you.”
“Well, I...” The one who was being questioned said stutteringly.
“Take your time. Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat or drink? How about some fried rice and Thai black coffee with ice?”
“No, thank you, sir.” The defendant sat deflated. “A... and how many years of jail time I’m about to get, Lieutenant?”
After the question, Tunwa let out a long sigh like he was completely fed up with this before he grabbed a small candy bar out of his pocket and put it between his lips.
“That depends on how well you cooperate in answering questions. If it can be proven that your confessions are not lies, your punishment can be treating the officers some meals for two months. But if you lie and don’t cooperate with us properly, your punishment can be executed by shooting as well.” Then the officer took that candy bar out of his mouth as he pretended to blow the imaginary smoke out.
“Don’t worry. If you agree to be our spy and help us more with the case, we’ll offer you protection from every hitman that is coming to get you. So, don’t be afraid that you’d get killed, kid.”
“...Then, ...may I,” Wisana said with a shaking voice as he stood up slowly. “Kick you in the face just once, Lieutenant?!!!”
THUD!!
His sentence ended and a foot went directly into the chest of the fake cop harshly, sending him down on the ground, defeated. The candy bay he was holding between his lips bounced off right away.
“Well, well, I know I was yielding, but know your limit, jackass.”
“What the heck? You really dared kick me?!”
“Yes, really. I just did.”
And after that, the area started to get noisy with bawls and shouts. At the same time the surroundings were lit up when Shindanai started the monster repellent campfire again. At first, the emotionless-faced man was curious about why these idiots had to kill the light, too. And it turned out that was all for the sake of this lame skit.
No surprise that they were friends of that Vincent guy.
And the other audience burst out laughing loudly, especially Mister Sander who was laughing as he slapped his knee.
“How can you still smile so joyfully, silly!? Did you forget that you have other offenses?” Nuchjaree, who was sitting on a rock on the other side objected in a high tone, making the one who just released his annoyance just now make a downhearted face again.
“I... I’m sorry, Lady Nuchjaree. I won’t do it again.”
“Man.” She let out an upset sigh, before glancing at Maysa. “If Maysa hadn’t talked to us about this beforehand, I would have looked for something to knock your head by now, loony. How could you come up with the idea that you didn’t want to play with us because you were afraid you would be a burden?”
“Sorry,” he replied mutteringly, glancing at his buddy to send her an SOS sign. And the buddy just waved back, implying that she had no idea how to get him out of this situation either.
“It’s not only us that you lied to, but you also lied to Orn.” Finishing speaking, Nuchjaree glanced at Warunya who was making an awkward face, not saying anything on the other side right now. Of course, Wisana would not dare to follow her eyes. Actually, he would not dare to even think if she was mad at him or not. Also, the images of him holding and carrying her around when they were fighting Lord Inferno showed up in his head again piece by piece.
The flashback took only 30 seconds and a half to make the once flirty one want to knock his head on the ground!
“Let’s forget about that for now. Na is having some other issues. We can get back to bullying him later, Nuch. When no one is around to interrupt us punishing this guy, of course.” Tunwa cut her off with a serious voice for the first time. Maybe he knew well enough that his best friend was caught in the most awkward situation right now. So, he helped him out, even though he wanted to slap this guy on the head so much.
“Tch! Fine. But let me tell you. This is not going to end well!” She ended, before stomping back to sit beside Warunya again. Wisana looked up and accidentally caught eyes with the complainant. But she just turned her face away, ignoring him, leaving him gasping.
“Hey, Wisana, I heard from Nam that you would join the Hunting Gate thing, too?” Finally, Maysa started a new topic with a calm expression.
“Oh, you knew about that already. So, what do you think?”
“Silly!” Her reply was off-topic, but it made Wisana flinch a little bit still.
“Did you forget that you’re being targeted by those item hunters? And why in the world would you want to join the event just to reveal your location like that, huh?!” Having the chance, the chief of staff threw a combo of scolds at him. The one who was getting scolded goggled at his sister right away. However, she was fast to see it coming, so she pretended she did not see it by smoothly looking in another direction as she whistled.
“But well, the prize for the winner of the event is good, you know. Many millions of coins.”
“Like you’d care about the money. You just want to join for fun. Do you think I don’t know what you’re really up to?” Getting forestalled like this, the troublemaker was speechless.
“Your skills are that low and you still think about competing with the others. And those item hunters, if they know that you join the event, they’ll trace you down for sure. And let me ask you when that happens, how will you fight them?”
“But, well...”
“No but!”
