Chapter 159: The New Test Part IV
Chapter 159: The New Test Part IV
“No but!” She snapped. “Man... how could you agree with this guy, Nam? You already know how dangerous it could be. And about hunting Ouroboros, too. Don’t you know how vicious the boss is?!!”
“I do, but, well, I agreed to come along just because I want to help Shin. His deadline for delivering the boss to the office is tomorrow already. If he doesn’t make it, he’ll be expensively charged, you know.” Getting his name mentioned in the argument made him flinch a little when he got involved, too. The emotionless face flashed a trace of surprise for a second before it faded away quickly. Shindanai let out a long sigh in a way that only Waree understood the meaning.
However, it seemed like Waree’s reason was valid enough because the head of staff did not continue to complain more as she expected.
“I can accept the boss hunting thing,” Maysa said. “But about joining the Hunting Gate, I really can’t. No matter if you join in as Wisana or Vincent, it’s still too risky either way. So, as the guild’s chief of staff, I don’t approve!”
“Come on, May.” Wisana started being petulant, making a downcast eye at her. And when getting attacked by the puppy’s look, even Maysa paused for three seconds straight, too. But she hurriedly looked away just in time.
This old tactic did not work anymore. Her immunity had developed!
“But I think it doesn’t always have to be like that,” Sander spoke out softly. He put the empty coffee cup on the ground before he stood up and stretched. “Wisana’s skills have improved a lot, compared to when he did the class quest with me. How he defeated Lord Orc today was conclusive proof.”
“Mister Sander!” Two voices shouted the name of the master at the same time, but in different moods. The gunner gazed at the overjoyed one instantly.
“It’s still too risky. I’m definitely not going to let this guy join the event.”
“Come on.” Sander smiled widely. “As a master, I always want my disciple to experience something new. And to be honest, the monster hunting event is kind of suitable for doing so. apart from he’ll learn about many kinds of monsters, he’ll also develop his fighting skills in various situations as well.”
“Yeah, Mister Sander’s right!” Wisana supported him right away. He even ran to hide behind his master, before sticking his tongue out to mock Maysa, too. And the chief of staff could not help but facepalm at her leader’s incurable habit of looking for trouble.
“Mister Sander, you have no idea how crazy this guy is. He’s just a newbie, but always wants to play solo like that...”
“I didn’t say that I’d let Wisana join the event.”
“What?!” The cheeky one exclaimed loudly.
“I was about to test his skills and see if he was ready to fight in the event or not. So, don’t be overconfident about your skills, kid. That was just a Lord Orc. Those two and I...” The middle-aged man said as he pointed his chin at Waree and Shindanai. “Can handle it so easily as well.”
Hearing that, Wisana made a frown face out of boredom, before nagging his master grudgingly. “What do you want from me, exactly?”
“I just said that I wanted to test your fighting skills first,” Sander said, curling up a sweet smile that strangely made the one who looked at it feel a shiver down his spine.
“Test my fighting skills? How?” He asked with a panicked face, the sweat of anxiety started dripping.
“Of course, you need to fight in the test. If you win, you’ll have my support in joining the Hunting Gate without any terms and conditions.” The offer made Wisana flinch.
“I have to fight you? No way! You’ll win before I even start!” His complaint made the listener smile amusedly.
“I didn’t even say that you had to fight me, kid.” Then Wisana let out a sigh of relief, unlike the others who started looking at them curiously.
“Does it sound good, girl?” Sander turned to ask Maysa. “Let’s test him and see if his skills will be enough to join the event or not. It should be better this way. And if it turns out that he actually got some savage skills, I think you might use that point as a warning to the item hunters that their target is not that easy.”
“But...” The young woman tried to argue, but she could not. Because Sander’s opinion sounded more reasonable.
“If you’re afraid to let him take the risk, his skills won’t improve. Not just as Wisana, but also as Vincent, the leader of Nemesis as well, right?”
Hearing that, Maysa let out a hard sigh.
“Okay.” Sander smiled in acknowledgment at her reply, before looking at his disciple with a serious face. “And you’re okay with this as well? If you win, I’ll gladly let you join the event. But if you lose, you have to listen to this girl’s reason, okay?”
“Yes, sir. "Then the master snapped his finger as a sign to call something out. And Wisana swore that he heard a loud noise coming from a dark corner.
A second later, a towering figure of a creature stomped its feet out of there. In the dark surroundings, there appeared a long-shaped face like a dog and a buff body that Wisana could remember so well. It was Lala’s servant named Leonard.
“I have to fight this guy?” He asked, and Sander raised eyebrows, looking like he was trying to hold back his laughter.
“No, not with Leonard. This guy only has good strength. You can beat him in just two seconds.”
“What? Then...”
THUD!
Not yet getting a clear answer, Leonard put the thing that he was carrying down on the ground loudly. When Wisana looked at it, it looked like sports equipment that he knew.
“A golf bag?” Tunwa and Nuchjaree asked at the same time.
“Then, who do I have to fight?” The disciple started to get impatient, while the master was just smiling and not saying anything.
“Of course, that will be me!”
“Crap!” Suddenly, Lala’s transparent figure appeared in front of him, making the one who got haunted(?) yell out. However, she did not seem to care and just floated past him to the golf bag just like that.
“I have to fight Lala?!” He made a not-believing face, then he turned to the master in a panicky manner.
“Uh-ha. It’s not going to be too much for you, isn’t it?”
Too much?! Come on, Mister Sander really underestimated his skills too much. Even though he was kind of unskilled, he had to fight Lala, who already looked feeble in walking? ...Harr, he really did not want to get blamed for bullying a ghost. Damn it.
It was like the master could hear what Wisana was thinking. The tall man curled up a cold smile, before glancing at his minions who were busy preparing the equipment. Her slender hand opened the bag’s zip slowly, then some wooden handle popped out. And Lala did not hesitate to pull it out of the bag.
THUDD!!!
Right now, the jaw of the one who was underestimating the opponent had dropped to the ground already.
The thing that Lala just pulled out was a middle-sized metal bat. But what was scary was the chain that hung from the tip of the bat with a golden plummet weighing at the end of it. And when the ghost girl took the bat out, that plummet fell down, cracking the ground into pieces.
“You really need that 2 tons, Miss Lala? Isn’t it going to be too much for just a skill test?” Leonard asked, sweating. But Lala just let out a teeth-showing smile, before glancing at Wisana.
“If I don’t go this hard, I’ll surely get beaten by Mister Wisana in ten minutes. So, let me take this seriously.” Hearing that, he almost fainted.
So, the number on the tip of the bat was not just a number of the bat, but it was actually the weight of the bat?!! And the measurement was even in a ton! Good lord, where on earth did she get that strength?!
“Alright, guys, let’s make some space. People are about to fight.” Sander shouted with a delightful voice like he was inviting them to a party. And the others glanced at each other for a second, before they started doing what he said obediently. Waree picked Angela up and walked to another spot with the little one still sleeping soundly as usual. Finally, there were left only Wisana and Lala standing as they stared at each other in the clearing.
“You already ate the food Lala cooked?” Sander turned to ask Wisana.
“Yes, I did.”
“Good. Then the exhaustion you had should be completely gone by now. Also, take this seriously, too. Lala is the NPC of the magic warrior office anyway. Did I ever tell you? This woman is strong.”
