Chapter 131: A Man and A Woman with An Unexpected Meeting Part I
“Damn, my body was all beaten!” The complaint came from the campfire that was started in the middle by a small group of people.
The ivory full moon was prominent in the sky, showing that the night had come, taking the place of the exhausting daytime already.
The tall figure of the black-haired man was in the worst injured stage. He frowned at his new favorite weapons that had as many as 7 pieces in a set and started feeling frustrated somehow. Especially when he saw these wounds all over his body!!
Parts of his body that were not covered in clothes had bruises and cuts everywhere, including burns, frostbites, and other black and blue, looking very pathetic. However, the one next to him smiled amusedly at him instead, while she was placing her hand on his back softly and muttering some healing spells, causing a dazzling light.
“I think you might die from internal contusion before you could reach your goal levels for sure.” Waree said jokingly before she moved her hand to heal a wound on his shoulder, making the older one scream out of pain.
“Nam, gentler, please. Even though we’re in a game, the pain simulation is real!”
“Sorry.” She said amusedly, “Can’t you endure it a bit? You’re a man, aren’t you? These wounds are so small, just like an ant bite.”
“That ant was gigantic!” The brother retorted frustratedly.
“Well, you shouldn’t have brought these dangerous items in the first place.” Waree continued.
“Don’t remind me of that, sis. A whistle will go up to my head.” His words made the listener pause.
“What? A whistle goes up your head, how?”
“PHWWWWWHHT!!” He shouted and made a frowning face when he showed her this silly joke, making the listener burst out laughing and reflexively thump him on the shoulder so hard that he let out another scream of pain.
“Come on, Na. What kind of joke was that? I just got back from the U.S. I don’t know how to take it.”
“Well, at least you laughed. A little laugh might get us through this crisis.” He said, before letting out a quiet sigh, trying not to think about the messed-up mistake he had made and cause himself more stress.
“The joke’s so lame...” A monotone voice spoke up, making the siblings pause. Especially Wisana who instantly gazed back, knowing so well who the owner of the nagging words was! But while he was opening his mouth to yell back, he saw that Angela, the sassy kid, was already sleeping soundly. So, he just clicked his tongue out of displeasure instead.
Well, maybe that was just sleep talking.
“Anyway, what should we do about the 7 curses?” Waree asked as she changed the healing spot to his right arm.
“I don’t know either.” The other one sighed out of boredom. "Just like you saw... I was trying to struggle with them all day, just in case one of them could actually be useful. But it turned out that all of them were all fatuous!”
“...Y... yeah.”
She remembered how Wisana was tolerating using those weapons, even though he was warned not to use them until they could figure out how to remove the swords from him. But this stubborn person did not listen and kept on being conceited.
And the final result was... that he was sitting here, whining like this!
“Listen, Nam.” Wisana continued complaining. “The fire blade was so hot that it almost burned my entire body. And the ice blade was so cold that it was like I was put in freezing storage. These two swords were completely useless.” He snorted out of irritation.
“The big ones were screwed up enough, but the smaller ones were even worse. Even though that stupid blood blade could double up the HP, it turned out to be just increasing the HP storage, not the actual HP I had left at that moment. And it even came with the bleeding curse, too. I was dumbfounded when I coughed blood like people in those Chinese martial hero movies did, and I couldn’t stop throwing up.” The big combo of complaints made the woman laugh nervously.
Why would she not remember, since this lovely sister was the one who stroked his back, while he was vomiting blood.
“And this damn magic knife, what did he say again? ...It had magic prevention? More like preventing me from using magic, I’d say. Once I drew it out of the sheath, my magic points were gone, leaving me a silent debuff to mute me. So awful.”
She remembered this one as well. Because right after her brother pulled out the knife, he became mute. And every magic element he had summoned just faded away.
“But the biggest pain in the neck was that thunder, air element knife. It should have been called a lightning rod!” He thought about this one and started feeling pissed off again. “I drew it out and it struck lightning right on my freaking head. It was all screwed up!”
Yeah... she almost lost an angel’s feather to revive this man because of the knife. And after getting struck by lightning, he got numb debuff, too. ...it was such a terrifying weapon.
“Then there was this cloud blade that was said to increase movement speed. Okay, it actually did, but my attack got lighter like a feather that probably couldn’t harm even a level one monster. And the earth blade increases immense numbers of armors, huh? Well, maybe the seller forgot to tell me that it would increase my body weight, too. So, I was as slow as a snail. Damn, they were all trash!”
Wisana bawled with rage. And Waree could only pat softly on his shoulder to soothe him before giving him a wry smile to cheer him up.
“Come on, calm down, Na. We’ll figure it out. But right now, try not to bring them out of the sheaths, okay?”
“The problem is that I can’t remove them from the equipment slots. To be honest, even though I don’t have to carry them around on my body, just touching them is already creepy enough.” She could only give a sour smile at his words.
“Hehehe, in your face.” Then Angela let out a giggle in her sleep again, drawing their attention to her. And what they saw was the long-haired little kid sleeping soundly like before.
“Are you sure that kid’s sleeping?” Wisana asked with a serious voice.
“Soundly. She’s probably exhausted today.” Waree replied before she stood up when she finished healing her brother’s wounds from the curses already.
“She can still nag at me, even when she’s sleeping, this kid.”
“But she hasn’t laughed like this for a long time. I have to thank you for making Angie smile this often.”
Hearing his sister say that, the listener scratched his cheek shyly, before acting like he was busy looking for his white tank top to cover it up instantly.
“I’m glad for being the one that made her laugh, but I also couldn’t help but feel pity for myself. ...Like damn, only just one day, and I got bad luck countless times.” He said, before letting out a sigh.
“Come on, it’s said that good things always come after the bad.”
“I hope so, too.” He was just being agreeable with her before the golden-brown eyes looked up to the sky for a moment. And eventually, his clear face appeared with a smile.
The stress and tension he had had all day long started to fade away little by little. His large hand reached to grab the seven curses swords to place them by his side before he sighed.
“Maybe there’s nothing as bad as I think.”
“Yes?” Waree turned to look at him with confusion. And the man just waved her off in reply. So, she turned to look at the kid next to her instead, before her gorgeous face curled up a smile out of endearment.
“I think we should take some rest now. We need to travel a long way tomorrow.”
“Yeah. You go ahead and take this sassy kid to the tent. I’ll relax here for a little bit more before I go to bed.”
“Okay, goodnight, Na. The dinner was delicious by the way.”
