Chapter 122: Hunter Guild (Association of Hunters) Part V
Chapter 122: Hunter Guild (Association of Hunters) Part V
His sharp eyes glanced through the notice board in front of him with incredible speed before they caught a piece of paper on the top. The large hand reached out to grab and pull it out of the board right away.
“Hey, Shin’s pulled the highest one out!”
“What? The Ouroboros?! That guy’s planning to hunt this one as the last monster?”
“This got to be kidding. That’s the Ouroboros, and he thinks to take down by himself? That’s crazy.”
The criticism came from every table in the bar. Wisana turned to catch eyes with Angela for a second before they both turned to the middle-aged man at the same time. But Wolf just shrugged as an explanation that this kind of thing happened every time that it was normal in the place now.
“Mister Shin, that paper, well...” Wason spoke shakingly, while he was looking at the paper in the young man’s hand with concern.
“What about it?” The man retorted monotonously.
“Well, you’re aware that pulling the paper off the board means that you’ve booked the monster for yourself to hunt. And if you can’t deliver the monster in three days..."
“My hunting permit will get canceled, and I’ll be fined for an immense amount of money, right?” The unbothered answer made the other one pause.
“You already know that, and you’re still going to hunt the Ouroboros by yourself?!”
“Manager, don’t worry. I’d never go on a quest that is impossible for me to complete. ...So, when I’ve decided to do something, it means that I’m going to succeed!” A sharp face appeared with a corky smile, as well as a pair of violet eyes that was sparkling with confidence. Shin bent his head down a little to the manager perfunctorily, before turning and walking out, without stopping his eyes at anyone.
After the elegant tall figure disappeared from the crowd’s sight, people in the bar started gossiping about him right away.
“This is huge news. Shin’s going to challenge Ouroboros!”
“That tough boss with more than twenty million HP?”
“Is he really going to defeat it on his own?”
And many more comments with similar context came after that. The crowd’s panic made the new player like Wisana look back and forth between them awkwardly. He was kind of curious why just a person tearing a piece of paper off the notice board was such a big deal.
“The monster that the guy booked is that strong?” He turned to ask the guru, and he just let out a tired sigh softly in reply.
“Yes, it’s extremely strong. Ouroboros is the toughest boss in the dungeon of Dores. Its savageness is in the top 20 list of the game, son. Normally, if players would like to try it, they have to go in with more than 20 party players, or they wouldn’t stand a chance.”
“But that guy is going solo? Has he gone mad?”
“At first, that’s what we thought, too,” Wolf said smilingly. “People here think that Shin’s too arrogant and too corky. Apart from not talking to anyone, he also likes snatching the monster information off the notice board to go hunt by himself, like how you just saw it. And people dislike these things about him a lot.”
The middle-aged man explained with a sigh. Unlike Angela who just gave the man next to her the side-eye before curling up a mocking smile. The act made Wisana’s nerves hurt uncontrollably.
“I’m not surprised why there’re many people who dislike him, though. Because I’m treated the same annoying way very often.” Wisana sneered at the little girl.
“But eventually, Shin will use his skills to erase every negative comment about him. So, I guess that this’s just his play style. ...you understand, right?”
Wisana just shrugged at his words.
“But does he have to rush hunting all the monsters in the past two months like this, master?” Angela interrupted, without noticing the eye expression of the man beside her.
“He’s in a rush to earn his points,” Wolf replied with a smile of endearment.
“What point?”
“The hunting point of the hunters. It’s the point that every hunter’s collected since the beginning of the year to join the Hunting Gate.”
Wisana blinked. “So, it’s about the event you talked about earlier?”
“Yes. Didn’t you listen to me at all, you dumb butt!” The middle-aged bartender snapped. But the one who got snapped only scratched his messy hair and gave him a dry laugh.
“It’s a term of application for the event. Players can join the Hunting Gate party only if they have the collecting point not less than one million points within this year.”
“One million?!” The buddy yelled.
“Yeah, it’s not much for those who have been hunting since the beginning of the year. But for Shin who’s just started two months ago, the points to collect are quite high. So, he has to catch up by hunting the gold monsters.”
Angela glanced over to the notice board that Shin took the paper away before she turned her ruby eyes at Wolf again.
“I think his points have already passed a million for a long time, haven’t they? Then why is he still going to hunt Ouroboros? I don’t understand.” She asked, but the master just shrugged as he did not understand, either.
“No one does. That’s why he’s so strong and frightening like that.”
His words make them roll their eyes. And it seemed that the master was right. That guy looked so arrogant like that, no need to be said, he had to be one of those who put his ego up so high and did not want to be like other people for sure.
“It’s all done, Na. Let’s go shopping in the town next.” Waree spoke up from behind, drawing Wisana’s attention to her.
“It is...?”
“Nam!”
He did not finish his sentence, because this little brat just hopped off the chair to hug Waree tightly, almost making her lose her balance.
“Hey, I’m not finished, Angie. Don’t you know that the adults are having a conversation? Don’t interrupt!”
“Adults? Where?” Hearing this comeback, the one who just got roasted by it gasped, not being able to find any word for one minute straight. Seeing her brother be like that, Waree could only give him a wry smile out of pity.
“Yeah, Nam, go. Get this shorty out of the bar, before I lose it and kick her butt!”
“Try me. I’ll report you to the police for child abuse.”
“Alright, Angie, let’s go outside.” The woman tried to soothe her. The slim figure started pulling the little girl out of her brother’s sight instantly. Because his temperature was about to reach the boiling point now.
Angela stuck her tongue out at Wisana before she transferred the money to pay for the tea to Wolf and ran off with Waree. Her childish manner made the bartender burst out laughing.
“Your sisters are really endearing.” He said, not being able to stop laughing, yet.
“Only for the older one. The younger one is just too much to deal with.” Wisana shook his head tiredly. When he was about to follow the girls out, his eyes just glanced at the notice board again unintentionally.
His feet stopped walking right away with a strange feeling growing inside him, making his heart tremble.
He wanted to fight... to challenge that guy just for once.
This intention made his blood run wild before his handsome face curled up a smile of excitement.
“Uncle, currently, is there any monster that has a million points?” The naïve question made the one who was enjoying wiping a glass finch hard, not believe that the corky words came from the newbie in front of him!
“You...” He was about to protest, that was why he could see those amber eyes clearly. And the spark in them made Wolf gulp down those words before he gave him an amused smile instead.
“Why’d you ask, son?”
“Well, I started to find this Hunting Gate thing interesting somehow,” Wisana said as he was bending his body left and right. “Also, I want to try my skills on that guy for once... that Shin guy.”
