Chapter 118: Hunter Guild (Association of Hunters) Part I

“Welcome to the Pride world, master.”

“’Sup, Girl.”

The greeting to his AI had become a daily routine for Wisana now. It had been three days since the first time he logged in on the Pride, contrasting to his personal feeling that seemed to be longer than this. Maybe it was because there were so many things happening that it made his head ache.

As well as the thing that was about to happen after this. When his big brown eyes looked at the surroundings, the man could not help, but exclaim out softly.

“So, this is Dores they kept talking about?”

That was right. The place in front of him was Dores, a town well-known as the town of ‘hunting’. The buildings here were made of stone in a square shape. Even though they did not look modern like Tristan, it still created a more humble feeling, looking dreamy like a fantasy world more than anywhere else. The town plan was designed to be a simple circle with a skyscraper tower in the center that was surrounded by a not very deep pool.

“How many floors high is it?” Wisana asked as he was holding up his hand to cover his eyes from the sunlight, trying to see the top of the tower. But even though he kept looking up until his neck broke, he would not be able to see it anyway.

“What’s that tower, Jinnie?” He asked his AI girl.

“The tower is called Athenia tower, master.”

“Oh, the tower that May wanted me to come to, right?” The troublemaker then was reminded that this enormous building was where Maysa wanted him to come and farm his EXP.

“How many floors are there?”

“Please wait a moment... I got it. Currently, the Athenia tower has 220 floors. And the owner has planned to upgrade it to 250 floors by the end of the year.”

“250 floors?!” He repeated loudly.

Was the dude planning to build his way to the moon, or what?! Just 220 floors made the one who saw it shudder with fear of height already!

“Don’t act like you just experienced technology for the first time, Mister Wisana. Even just a tall tower can get you shocked, wouldn’t you have a heart attack if you see something greater than this?” The monotone nagging came interrupting the overreacting one’s thoughts, drawing his annoyed gaze to the owner of the voice instantly.

“The first thing you do after meeting me is to nag, huh, Miss Angela?” Wisana nagged back.

“It’s a greeting from someone who knows each other.” The little girl replied monotonously, as she was leaning her tiny figure against a big tree with a book opening in her hand, implying that she had been here for quite a while now. But this clown did not see her, because he got too carried away by the new town’s surroundings!

“If you love to greet me like this, maybe we’d better not know each other, you brat!” The older one snapped.

But Angela was not bothered by what the other one said. She just closed the book, before sitting down by the tree and pushing her hair to the back arrogantly.

“Where’s Waree?” She asked, making the one who got ignored frown with displeasure. But before he could reply, suddenly there was a pole of bright light appearing, before it blended into the form of a woman with long curly brown hair and a pair of bright emerald green eyes.

“Nam!!”

“WUH!!”

Angela launched herself to the newcomer instantly, making the one who was not ready for this draw back a few steps with surprise, before they both started laughing happily.

“You always like running to hug me out of the blue like this, Angie.”

“Well, I missed you.” The little kid said as she was burying her face in Waree’s waist, getting a displeased clicking tongue noise from the man next to them.

“Girls, we don’t have all day for a cuddle like this.”

“Come on, Na.” Waree turned to smile at him wryly.

“Alway complains, like a grumpy old man.”

Angela gave him a snort of frustration. But Wisana did not care. He just deadpan changed the topic.

“And what do we do next, Nam?”

“Don’t worry about that.” The girl smiled widely. “Our destination is right there, the Hunter Guild, or the Association of Hunters.”

She finished, before pointing to a big building located in the center of the town. There was smoke floating from its chimney, even though it was daytime now. The taller one looked at it for a while, then turned to make a sour frown at her like he did not like the answer.

“I already knew about that. What I’m asking is what we are going to do there. Are we doing a scavenger quest or something like that or what?

“No, we’re not, Na,” Waree replied smilingly. “And there’s not only quests for us to do there, either.”

“What do you mean?”

“I’ll explain, while we’re walking. First, we have to fill in our hunter registration forms there.” Hearing his sister say that, the older one just nodded obediently before he started following the girls.

Not long after, the three walked into the most crowded spot. There were many shops along the way on the sidewalks. On the top of these single-floor buildings, a slew of advertisements with the names of all kinds of shops was posted. By the street, a small water route was running around the town in a circle.

“Even though it doesn’t look so civilized, the town’s just as vigorous as Tristan.” The deep voice said while he was looking at the crowd and food stalls around there.

“Everyone here all has the same goal as us,” Waree replied plainly. The listener saw these players and got curious in his mind. Because each one of them did not look like a mage player with heavy armor, or fully loaded with weapons. To be honest, they did not even look like players who focused on fighting that much.

Are they really here to farm the EXP?

“So, what is this Hunter Guild exactly?”

He finished as he bent away to avoid the traffic ahead with a little uncomfortable face.

“It’s a guild to help players upgrade their levels faster.”

“Huh?” Her answer made him make a confused noise. But the one who could explain did not help him with that anymore, since she started walking toward a crepe shop with Angela with the most excited face.

The shop was a small stall with a display case that was full of tasty-looking crepe models in various colors and the owner yelled to advertise his products resoundingly through the small street.

“Gather in, gather in. Tasty flavors crepes. Attack flavor, armor flavor, magic flavor, and the currently most popular, the HP and MP rate flavor. Cheap crepes, 300 coins each. Gather in.”

“So, what is the Hunter Guild?” Wisana asked again with a more withered voice than usual. When he looked at his money balance on his transparent screen rapidly decreased since he started traveling with these girls, he could not help but make a sour face out of regret.

The simple question drew Waree’s gaze to him before she started explaining it to him while walking hand in hand with Angela, who was enjoying the crepe.

“Well...” Her words stopped as she was trying to swallow a bite of the crepe. “It’s an association that was formed for players to join the monster hunt that the guild assigns. And the players will earn the collecting points for exchanging them with some rewards later.”

“Collecting points?” Wisana repeated.

“Yeah. It’s like when we take quests from the quest office. But the details of the quests from the Hunter Guild will only be about hunting the assigned monsters.”

“Um...” The one who was trying to catch up just nodded along.

“But the good point about hunting the monsters that the guild assigns is that the players will earn double more experience points than doing normal quests.”

“So, this is great. Our levels are going to rapidly be upgraded now.” Wisana said happily.

“Actually, it’s not as good as you think. Because after we register as a member of the guild, even though we’ll get double EXP, the guild will have every right to own the items. And that’s why we won’t get any piece of the items that dropped from the assigned monsters.”

“Whoa... that’s a lot of profit they’ll get.”

“Right,” Waree replied, before taking another big bite of the crepe. “So, it’s only good, if we don’t mind about the items. Anyway, we can use our collecting points to exchange with the rewards later, though.”

“Okay. It doesn’t sound like exploiting that much now.” Wisana nodded in acknowledgment. “So, does it mean that the monsters that the guild assign will all be those difficult monsters?”
