Chapter 119: Hunter Guild (Association of Hunters) Part II
Chapter 119: Hunter Guild (Association of Hunters) Part II
“So, does it mean that the monsters that the guild assign will all be those difficult monsters?”
“Not always. They will assign some easier monsters as well. Because the guild wants to include low-level players, too. So, there’s balance and not too much subservience for those high-level players. And the difficulty of the monsters is just the difference in the collecting points that the players will earn. Except those that are very rare, the guild will occasionally give a special reward for them.”
Listening to her explanation, Wisana nodded as he started to sort of understand Maysa’s intentions. Being a member of the Hunter Guild was the fastest way to farm the EXP for him right now. Because apart from practicing his gameplay skills quickly, he could also use the collecting points to claim some rewards later, too.
“Is there a border for hunting, Nam? Is it limited only to Dores?”
“No, it’s not.” Waree turned to smile at him, even though her cheeks were still stuffed with the dessert. “We can go hunt wherever we want. It’s just that the office of the guild’s located in this town. But, if we go hunt somewhere else around the world, it’d be a bit troublesome when we need to travel back here to deliver the quests.”
“That makes sense.” The pair of golden-brown eyes were sparkling with excitement, as he was thinking that starting learning the game with the Hunter Guild like this would make him understand more about the monster types and how to deal with each one, too.
“There it is, Na. That’s the Hunter Guild office.” The melodious voice of Waree drew the attention of the person who was lost in thought to look at the building in front of him. The office was a building made of stone that gave the impression of being strong and durable. At the top of the three-floor building appeared a black and red flag that was blowing, making the crossed sword and scepter printed on it wave to the wind.
Above the front door made of a big wooden board, there was a curved sign that clearly read Hunter Guild.
“It looks like some ancient European building, so classic.” The one who got excited easily exclaimed softly, while he was looking back and forth awkwardly.
“So, let’s go get our ID cards,” Waree said, before leading them inside.
The big wooden door was swag open with a ’SQUEAK’ noise. Wisana was expecting to see some top-class hunters walking around the counter in heavy armor suits and fully loaded weapons like the previous offices he went to. But when a warm breeze from inside the building was blowing on his face, some sort of sweet scent hit his nose, getting him surprised by it.
Because this smelled so familiar... like it was some booze!
The golden-brown eyes widened in shock at the thought. And a second later, he heard someone yelling from a corner of the room, followed by overlapping conversations that the newcomer had to gasp at.
The large room in front of them had dozens of round tables set up throughout the entire space, looking similar to another place somehow. Most importantly, every table had some thick glasses filled with golden liquid with white bubbles on the top. It was obvious that the drink was a product of yeast-fermented malt for sure.
And it was even more obvious when he saw the ones who were drinking it getting all red and slurring their words, he knew this was definitely it!!
“Did we go into the wrong place? Is this the Hunter Guild, or a bar?!” Wisana spoke out uncontrollably. The image of the guild he was having just now was totally destroyed. Instead of a clean office counter waiting to welcome them, he was looking at a long counter bar and a bartender who was showing his mixing skills with many kinds of booze stacked on the shelf behind him, too!
“No, we didn’t, Na. This is definitely the Hunter Guild.” Waree turned to answer him slowly and clearly. Her gorgeous face was smiling knowingly, while she was looking around. “Well, I missed this place so much. I haven’t been here for so long, even when I was in the U.S.”
“Really?!” He shouted. “In a club of drunk people like this? The Hunter Guild?! I only see old drunk uncles everywhere.”
“Isn’t it normal?” The long-haired girl replied. “You never read a fantasy novel? A source of information always comes from a bar, you know.”
“That’s true, but this’s kind of...” While he was trying to find words to argue, suddenly there was a loud CLANG coming from the back of the room when a group of drunk men was giving a toast cheerfully.
Okay, those dudes were totally wasted, and this was not even noontime, yet. Cheers!
“Even though they look like this, they’re all pro hunters, you know. They rest during the daytime and go hunting at night. I hope you still remember that the nocturnal monsters are a lot more difficult than the diurnal ones.” Waree explained.
“Even if they’re taking a rest, there’s no need to start drinking this early in the day.” The man still kept on complaining out of being weary. Because, damn, this was not like anything he was imagining in his mind!
“Let’s just say you and Angie go sit and wait over there, while I’m going to register for us in the back of the bar.” The slender one was pushing the taller one to walk inside amusedly. And Wisana walked in unavoidably, even though he started to lose his faith in the guild somehow now.
That was when his eyes caught a large board in a corner of the room with various kinds of advertising on it. This was the spot that had quite a lot of people crowding around.
“Sit here. You might want to order something to drink while you’re waiting.” Waree left an order for them after she took them to the counter bar. “I’ll be back in about 10 minutes.”
“I’m not going anywhere.” The brother waved at her as in cutting her off. And when the sister was gone, the man turned to look at the bartender, before he twitched his lips into a grin.
“I’d like to have one Kamikaze, uncle.” When in a bar, do as the drunken do, would not hurt, right?
SLAM!!
A sound of a palm slamming on the counter made the one who was sitting next to it jump. When he turned to look, he saw the same pretty girl staring at him with flaring eyes. And he just gave her a sour smile.
“I said order something to drink, and by something, I mean not including the alcohol!”
“Come on. Just one glass. Other people are drinking tanks.”
“This is not about them. I’m not having it if you get drunk here.” Her green eyes were flaring so frighteningly that they made the one who was trying to argue shrink his neck away instantly. The look in her eyes right now really reminded him of when she was fighting those low-level gangsters in Tristan somehow.
“I’ll have a coffee instead, please.” The deep voice changed his order quietly, getting an amused laugh from the bartender who shook his head, while he was making Wisana’s order.
Waree’s mood got better right away, a satisfied smile was obvious on her smooth face. Then she turned back and walked away again. That was why she missed her brother holding a fist behind her back.
“You’re girlfriend’s cute, brother.” The teasing came from the middle-aged bartender. He smiled at Wisana as he was placing a cup of hot coffee in front of him quickly.
“She’s my sister.” Wisana corrected, shaking his head.
“HAHA, She’s still enviably cute anyway. You two seem to get along very well.”
“I guess so.” He replied flatly, before holding up the coffee to take a sip.
“What about the youngest sister here? Can uncle get you anything to drink?” The uncle bartender asked Angela who just successfully climbed up to sit on the chair.”
“I’d have a Darjeeling, please.”
“Come on, uncle. This one is not my sister, either. She’s my mom.” Wisana turned to nag at her when he got a chance.
“Excuse me, what did you just say?” The little girl stared at him resentfully.
“Not my sister, but my mo... Ouch!!” He did not finish, because the tinier one just kicked him in the leg, making the nagger scream out so defeatedly that the other burst out laughing.
“So, you’re the brother who gets bullied by the sisters a lot, right?” The tall man said jokingly, while he was placing a cup of light-colored raisin tea in front of Angela. And the one who got bullied could only stroke that leg softly, while he was sending vengeful eyes at the little one who was sipping on her tea, unbothered.
“Say, I’ve never seen you around here before. It’s your first time at the guild?”
