Chapter 106: Countering The King of Lycan Part I

Chapter 106: Countering The King of Lycan Part I

“Ugh. It’s cold inside the forest.” The muttering complaint came out with white smoke from his breath.

“We’re in the northwestern area, so the weather gets chill like this. Sorry, I didn’t buy any hot milk for you.”

“It’s okay. I can handle it.” The most patient one said as his teeth were bumping against each other. His mouth said it was okay, but his heart had already given up since he saw that there was smoke coming out when he spoke!

Damn, it was even colder than the winter in Chiang Mai! Right now, he started regretting that he did not buy any hot milk to drink, even though there were many merchants warning him. Well, who would have thought that the item looking so useless would be the most useful later?

Hot milk *drink item that keeps the player warm for 30 minutes.

Reminder: Use it in cold weather areas only, or you might get heatstroke.

He was about to move around to make himself warmer. But before that, his eyes caught the girls walking so casually, and that made Wisana feel displeased somehow.

“Why do you two seem to be not cold?”

“Huh?” Waree glanced at him before she curled up a smile. “Maybe I’m just used to it. It was a lot colder than this in the U.S. also, my new clothes are kind of thick. They can keep me warm just fine.”

The light brown eyes looked at his sister from head to toe before he frowned and turned away. Her clothes seemed to be warm like she said with knee-length socks and a long thick scarf. Her shirt was long-sleeved, exposing her shoulders a bit, but that did not make her feel the cold as much as him.

He should have bought a jacket if he knew this.

It looked like these girls from the U.S. were used to cold weather, especially Angela. She was still quiet and walking like the weather here was just perfectly nice for her to enjoy it. Wisana looked around to see a small route with illuminated light shining from the floor, surrounded by lines of trees. And the route seemed to stretch a long way.

“Are you sure that we’ll be unharmed in this Safe Way?” The man asked again.

“Yes, I’m sure we’ll be safe.” The girl replied confidently. “Apart from keeping the monster out, this route prevents us from getting lost, too. It’s very convenient, isn’t it?”

“Yeah, it is.” He drawled, agreeing with her. Because along the way, Wisana had not yet seen any monster just once. So, this route was literally a safe way, just like its name suggested. But the thing was...

It was very disappointing! He actually wanted to try fighting a nocturnal monster just once!!

“They’ve got in Kravenza as you wanted, Allen. What’s next?” Nero asked casually, while he was standing on a strong branch in the thick rainforest. His pale white face had a cunning smirk on it.

“That’s great.” The cold voice of the other one replied. His blood-colored eyes were shining in the surrounding darkness, giving a sense of horror to anyone who saw them.

“You’re unbelievable for destroying the bridge just to bring them into the forest like this. We’d get in trouble for sure if the boss knew.”

“He won’t if none of us tell him.” Allen cut him off without taking his eyes off the target.

“It’s not going to be that simple. You know he has eyes and ears everywhere.” Allen did not reply. He just paused for a moment, before his eyes followed Wisana’s party until they got to the spot he wanted them to be.

A calm-looking smile appeared on his sharp face for a second, before he turned to his friend beside him.

“It’s time.” His words were like a command. Nero shook his head when his warning did not work. It looked like his buddy only cared about having the fun that was about to happen and completely forgot about something else.

“Now? I think it’d be more fun if we let the Lycan farm a little bit more.”

“Its levels are more than enough already. Or, you really think that sacrificing more than 80 players isn’t enough to kill those guys?” There was a hint of daring in his tone.

“Fine, fine.” The other man cut it off amusedly. “I just thought that maybe you were expecting to see a blood-thirst monster or something. But as you please, I’ll handle the rest.” Allen just replied to that with a smile. Satisfaction was appearing in his deep red eyes, creating a strange, frightening atmosphere around him.

“If you think the Safe Way is the safest, you’re completely wrong, Vincent.”

“That’s true,” Nero added. “Humans have never liked the darkness. Especially when they’re in the light for a while, and suddenly, that light goes out. I really wonder how they’re going to react.”

----------------

WHOOP!

“Hey, what’s happening, Nam? Why did the route lights suddenly go out?” Wisana stopped his feet when the illuminated golden lights that used to shine along the way were gone right in front of his eyes.

“I don’t know either!” Waree replied while she was shocked just as much.

“Who’s in charge of the power supply here? Did they forget to pay the electricity bill?” After he was done being irritating, the man popped up his personal window. The white light from the screen was used as a flashlight to see some of the surroundings in a dull vision.

“Looks like it’s not happening just here,” Wisana said, sounding bored. “This is bad. How are we going to go on like this? The map I bought is just a medium resolution one.”

“It’s strange,” Waree said with a surprised look on her face. “Safe Way’s never been blackout like this before. And as I can remember, there’s no close time, either. Because it’s for beginner players to pass through difficult dungeons.”

“Maybe something crashed in the system.” Wisana guessed.

“It could be. Well, the problem right now is how are we going to keep going, if our map is not detailed enough to show the direction of the Safe Way?”

“Don’t worry about that.” The brother gave a pretentious smirk to his sister just to make her look back at him confusedly.

“Have you ever had a problem with getting lost in the forest? If yes, I’d like to present you...”

He paused, grinning widely before opening his inventory up to find an item in there.

“Tiggy, the pixie navigator!!” Wisana said, mimicking that blue cat robot from the future by holding out the item in front of everyone. It was a tiny pixie doll with golden hair and two pairs of pixie wings.

“You bought a Tiggy! This’s so brilliant!!” The sister shouted with happiness, before snatching the item from Wisana’s hand instantly, making him pause.

“What? If you already know what it is, so there’s no scene for Wis-mon to brag about its properties then.” His voice withered.

Tiggy, the pixie navigator *a rescue item in the form of a tiny pixie. It can guide the player out of any area. The time limit of use is 30 minutes. So, only use it in case of emergencies.

“Let’s forget about that for now. I think we should find a way out of here as fast as we can.” Waree suggested.

“Dang, I just wanted you girls to get excited about it. But why your reactions are this boring?”

“This is not the time, Na.”

“What? Is that implying you’re calling me nonsense?”

“Be quiet!” A stiff voice from Angela interrupted their bickering. Her ruby eyes were looking around cautiously.

“What’s up with you, Angie? Are you saying that I’m being nonsense, too?

“I said, be quiet!” This time, the little girl snapped loudly, making the older one jump before trying to be serious again. His instinct was out of place, because of the dark. But right now, it started functioning again, and the first thing it told him was...

The danger was coming!!

“Nam set the destination on the Tiggy. We need to get out of here now!” His deep voice sounded more serious, completely different from earlier.

“Okay.” Waree seemed to sense it from her experience, too. So, she did not ask any more questions.

The pair of amber eyes were looking around thoroughly. The tall man stepped up to keep a watchful eye on the girls, just in case, there was an unexpected event occurring. While Angela was getting her new scepter out in her hand already.

“You can feel it, Angie?” He asked.

“You, too?”

“Yeah, how many of them can you count?”

“Eight.”

“Is that so? But I got nineteen.”
