Chapter 104: Kravenza, The Demon Forest Part II

Chapter 104: Kravenza, The Demon Forest Part II

“Please stop!!”

He was lost in his thoughts for a while before a man ran up and got in their way at such a scary close range. Wisana and Waree almost ran him over, but they could pull back the reins to stop the birds just in time. Snow seemed to be obedient, unlike Gold that was about to dig its big foot in that man, and Wisana had to stroke its feathers slightly to calm it down.

“Easy now, Yellow. He’s not an enemy. Stop being chickened out.”

SHRIKE!!

Gold screeched in a treble tone as if it was saying, “Yellow is not my name. Also, who are you calling chicken?!”

“Ugh! That was close.” That man sighed out in relief. He was quite tall, dressed in an orange construction worker uniform. He had a large storm lantern in his hand, and his helmet was hanging around his neck. When Wisana got a better look, he noticed that there were dozens of people dressed like the man working ahead. All of them were surrounding some construction tools behind them.

“What’s wrong?” Waree asked.

“Why did you get in the way like this, uncle? I almost hit you, you know? I have to disclaim that this bird doesn’t have any insurance with it, so no one’s gonna pay for your damages.” Wisana said with an amused laugh.

“Sorry. We’re just having some problems ahead.” That uncle said while he was holding up the lantern to see their faces clearly.

“You kids are going to the bridge?” He asked.

“Yes sir, we are going to Dores. Could you tell me what’s happening there?” Waree asked politely. She knew this uniform well. He was one of the staff who fixed the damage in the game when a place or building was destroyed by the monster or the players.

“You’re going to Dores?” He repeated.

“Yes. Why? You need a ride there? Well, I wish I could give you one, really, but there’s no available seat now.” Wisana grinned.

“No, it’s not that.” The uncle who was getting provoked drawled tiredly. “I’m telling you that the bridge is destroyed, and not available right now.”

“The bridge was destroyed? How?” Waree yelled out in shock when she knew that the bridge made of the best kind of steel that could even support more than 200 players at the same time, was now broken.

“I don’t know exactly how either.” The construction worker shrugged. “Do you see that smoke? That’s the only remains of the bridge.” After his words, everyone looked up to see the grey smoke blowing up into the sky from far away. Seeing that, Waree made a dissatisfied noise, while Angela was frowning her eyebrows tightly.

“But I think it probably got hit by some extreme spells to be messed up like that. And it’ll take a long time until the reconstruction is complete. So, I think you kids should take another route to Dores. Because judging from its condition, it approximately takes at least five to six days to fix.” he finished, before scratching his head. And the siblings caught eyes with each other.

“Which route would you suggest?” The sweet voice said tiredly because as much as she knew, the bridge was the fastest way to get to Dores and the only route that she knew.

“How about Kravenza?” The man replied smilingly.

“Kravenza, the demon forest?”

“That’s right. I think that forest has a route to Dores, as well. You guys go check it out.”

“But it’s too dangerous there.” The owner of the green eyes muttered softly when she realized that the forest was in the night area. And for that reason, the local nocturnal monsters there tended to be a lot worse than the usual diurnal monsters. So, Waree was not quite sure that a small party with only three members like them would be able to make it through the forest.

“Don’t worry, girl.” The worker uncle said with a clear voice. “The forest now is full of the other players. I heard that they’re there to hunt a boss that comes out once a day. If you go there at the moment, there’ll not be many difficult monsters, because they’d probably cleared them out of the way already.”

“There’s currently a boss hunting party there?”

Waree said in relief, and the uncle nodded at her as confirmation.

“Also, there’s a Safe Way in the forest. You should be fine if you follow that route.”

“Really? Thank you, a lot, uncle.”

“You’re welcome. And I’ll go back to work, then.” Then the old man walked away to join his team, while the girl was waving at him formally. Then she turned to look at Wisana with eyes sparkling with excitement.

“Na, we should hurry to Kravenza, before the boss hunting party gets back out of the forest.”

“Er... what’s Kravenza, though? And we are now going there?” The slow brain was throwing out some plain and dull questions as usual. It could not be helped. All he could process was the bridge was broken down, and they had to use another way to go to Dores.

“Yes, we are. And you’ll know when you get there. But right now, we need to hurry up.” After finishing, Waree whipped the reins to get the white bird to run toward the thick forest, with Wisana riding at the rear quietly.

BOOM!

Not long after the troublemaker’s party got to Kravenza, and the welcome of their arrival was a loud noise of people fighting from inside the forest. And that made people who just climbed down from the birds look around excitedly.

The entrance area which was full of many overgrown trees that looked like a thick tall wall was taken over by temporary shops and stalls decorated with big lanterns. The environment here really reminded him of Lord Inferno events somehow.

“This means that there’re other players in the forest for sure,” Waree said, while she was placing her hand on Snow’s forehead softly. “We should hurry in. The more people around, the less chance there is that we would run into some difficult monsters. Na, don’t forget to transform your bird into a feather, so you can put it back in your inventory.”

“Transform?” The brother raised his eyebrow.

“Just touch its head and say transform. That’s all.”

PONK!

Suddenly, Snow turned into a large white feather in Waree’s hand. Wisana blinked in surprise, before turning to look at Gold and forcing a wry smile.

“Why do we have to turn it into a feather, Nam?” He could not stop asking.

“Pets can’t get in Safe Way, because they’re still counted as monsters.” The answer made him even more curious.

“And what’s a Safe Way?”

“The Safe Way is the safest route in a dungeon. It’s made for low-level players who don’t want to fight, so they can travel through. The Safe Way in each area has some magic to block the monsters from the dungeon out, so the players won’t be harmed.”

Angela was the one who answered with a deadpan voice. Wisana narrowed his eyes at this freak kid whom he did not know why she decided to speak up with such a long speech just now.

“Like Angie said. I think you should hurry up and transform your Yellow into a feather, and I’ll go buy some supplies from the shops around here.” Not waiting for his answer, her slender figure just ran off to an item shop, not forgetting to drag the cold kid with her, too. And the only man in the group was left there, scratching his head confusedly.

This game could still make him confused. When he felt like he finally understood it, there would always be a new system to surprise him.

KNOCK!

“Ow!” Wisana cried out when suddenly there was something hard knocking on his head. He looked at it to see that it was Gold, the one that used its huge beak poking at him as if telling him to turn it into a feather already!

“Yeah, yeah, I know. You’re so annoying, Yellow.”

PONK!

After he got the feather in his hand, he then managed to put it in his inventory.

“Master.” And that was when Jinnie spoke up.

“What’s up, Jinnie. It’s rare that you speak to me first.” Wisana smiled widely.

“I’d like to remind you that this is a dangerous area. You might want to buy a map, explosive items, revive items, and some town portal books.”

“Thanks for reminding me,” Wisana replied. “But can’t you just download the Kravenza map for me? I saw you do it so many times.”

“I can only download maps while we are in town. Because the server there will share this kind of information for free download all the time. Unlike outside of town where you have to buy a map of the area for me to upload it to your personal data.”

“Got it. I’ll go buy those items for you, then.”

“Thank you, master,” Jinnie replied sweetly. And the master smiled amusedly when he thought that his AI had some similar personalities to Maysa’s, which were being very cautious and well-organized all the time.

Wisana was just strolling around the market until his eyes caught the girls who were shopping at a clothes shop. He saw Waree was putting a shirt on her body enjoyingly.

“Hey, didn’t you say that you were going to buy some supplies? Why are you shopping at a clothes shop?”
