Chapter 103: Kravenza, The Demon Forest Part I
Chapter 103: Kravenza, The Demon Forest Part I
“So, your friends are coming to join us a while later?”
“Yeah.”
Wisana drawled in response. He just told his sister about the call with Maysa from earlier, and Waree seemed to be slightly shocked by that, too.
“The point is, do not call me by my real name in front of them. I haven’t told them that I’m playing the game, yet. Also, stay away from that guy friend of mine. His nose is quick, just like a dog.” The gossip came in a combo, getting a giggle out of the other one beside him.
“Even your friends, they can’t know about this, too?”
“No, they can’t,” Wisana answered without looking at her. “Er, especially the one named Warunya. You can’t let her know about this, because... er...”
“Because what?” Waree tilted her head to the side curiously.
“Let’s just say that you can’t tell her. That’s all I beg.” Wisana could not find words to explain to Waree without making her feel pathetic for him, since the main reason he covered up his face was a silly thing like being afraid of embarrassing himself in front of the girl he liked.
For this reason, Wisana chose to be quiet, while he was scratching his cheek on the back of the bird, trying to ignore the girls’ eyes that were sparkling with curiosity until they eventually gave up. Because Waree had realized that her brother might have some personal stuff that he did not want to share with anyone else, too. So, she let out a long sigh, before changing the subject.
“Okay, I’ll be pretending to not care about your reason. Even though I can detect some nonsense in this somehow.” The clear voice teased jokingly to make the other one reply back with a wry laugh. “I promise I won’t slip out your real name, leader Vincent.”
“That’s already the best thing you can do for me.” he said with a wry smile, before glancing his eyes at the little one who was riding on the same bird as Waree.
“You too, Angela. Don’t say my name in front of them.” Angela did not respond. She just turned her face to the other side, leaving the older one frowning and choking on the air slightly.
This little brat was really hard to get along with. Damn it!
Since he had to harden himself to click on the accept button and had this girl in the guild, he had had to endure the cold look in her eyes piercing through him like a million blades! But that could not compare with the silent treatment she was giving him. After she insulted him fluently from a while ago until now, she was still awfully quiet. She did not respond to his questions, nor even care that he existed!
Fine, he was like dust in her eyes anyway! This girl’s butt deserved a spank so much!
“That’s right. I’ve been curious about something for a while.” After cursing in his mind for a moment, Wisana just asked the question out of the blue, drawing two pairs of eyes to look at him.
“What is it?”
“Well, it’s this kid, Angie.” Hearing that, the girls turned to look at each other with eyebrows knitted.
“You’re an American, right? But how can you speak Thai so fluently? Why does your accent really sound like a native? You can even use it more properly than these Thai kids do nowadays.” Waree let out a laugh at those questions. She held up a hand to stroke Angela’s hair gently, and the youngest one at the party still remained emotionless like usual. It was like this conversation was not about her just a tiny bit.
“It’s normal. Angie’s a genius who can speak more than sixteen languages.”
“Sixteen?!” He yelled out loudly. Was she capable of speaking any language from caveman to alien, or what?!
“And it seems like the Thai language is her most expert, too. Is it right, Angie?” Waree leaned down to ask her with a soft expression.
“I like Thai language because Nam’s Thai. Also, it sounds melodious to me.” The small voice replied softly like it was not something important. No, it seemed like she was talking to herself, even. Because her ruby eyes looked inattentive somewhere else like Wisana was invisible. And that made the one who was being disliked force a sound in his throat, sounding like Tch.
“But she even ported her character here on the Thai server just to meet you, Nam. She probably likes hanging out with you a lot.”
“Yeah... something like that.” The girl replied as she was scratching her cheek.
Angela did not say anything after that. And Wisana did not know how to start a conversation with her, either. Because no matter what he said, this little girl seemed to be ignoring it all. He doubted that she literally had zero social communication skills. Damn.
He thought to himself, then shrugged. The man looked up to the view ahead, before realizing that the surrounding light seemed to be dimmer. And the sky, which had been bright, also started getting darker now.
“Hey, hey, what’s happening? Isn’t it noontime now? Why is the sky getting dark like this?” The one who had never seen this phenomenon of rapid time changing yelled out loud. And Waree just let out a giggle in response.
“Don’t worry, Na.” She said. “This area is a part of the city of the night, Lutier. It’s the only town that the light can’t get through. That’s why the town’s environment always looks like nighttime, as you can see.”
“There’s a town like this, too?”
“Yeah, and we’re just passing through it. The sky will get back to normal in a while.”
“Okay.” The oldest one was looking around, feeling amazed. “To take a closer look, that side of the sky is still daytime, but this area’s completely dark that they have to turn the light on.”
“There’s something more interesting about Lutier,” Waree said. “The town is also called the greater city of the night. It’s well known for casinos and the best auction market that has many rare items gathered there, too.”
“So, it’s not different from Las Vegas of the U.S.” Wisana smirked.
Right. He had always wanted to have a trip to Las Vegas, the night city with legal casinos and all, just once in his life. But who would have thought that the downgraded version of it would be just within a reach away like this? So, he thought, it was quite interesting to go and check it out.
“We should go to Lutier, once our party’s back together again. What do you think?” Waree smiled delightedly at him like she knew that the man was interested in this town quite a lot. And proof of that was a big smile on Wisana’s face after he heard her.
“I think that’s a brilliant idea! I might not be that good at the gameplay, but on gambling, my luck won’t be second to anyone!”
The bragging made the girl let out a laugh.
“Anyway, how far are we, until we get to Dores?” Wisana changed the subject when they got to a field that had some trees appearing sparsely in their sights. The monsters in the area started to look different from the previous towns. Some of them were like huge insects or a massive toad that just jumped out of the small swamp around there.
“We’ve made about 40% of the way, now,” Waree answered. “After we pass this area of the night town, we’ll find a big suspension bridge that connects to Dores. I think we’ll get to our destination within three hours.”
“Um.” The listener drawled. “Travelling like this is so troublesome. We should have flown on the airship from Tristan all the way to Dores. It would have been better that way.” He whined, making the sister giggle. She shook her head.
“May wanted you to practice using your skills and upgrade your level, didn’t she? So, I think traveling like this is the best way to do so. If we had traveled by airship, we wouldn’t have done anything, except for sitting, right?”
The troublemaker let out a sigh, feeling tired when he realized that Maysa was well organized, just like usual. Damn, how thoroughly did she plan this for him? She assigned him to travel by bird riding to practice his skills for that battle of Athenia tower thing.
Anyway! He would do whatever she told him to do now. He had seen enough of weird monsters along the way that he thought nothing could surprise him anymore!
“Please stop!!”
