Chapter 133 133

Let's say that things went as planned. After Lin and Suyin fought, Akashi took the suspects he suspected of being with Zaheer to a private room and interrogated them. Thanks to his ability to understand the waves, he could find the one who worked with Zaheer.

He was a bald old man in a fancy robe that showed his status and wealth. His name was Aiwei, a trusted person to Suyin.

And let's say that he denied it to the last moment, saying that Akashi was lying and all. And that he needed proof.

As for Akashi, he didn't need proof or anything. He needed someone to use.

After finding the traitor, Akashi told Suyin's husband and left the interrogation room.

It was a matter to leave for later.

For now, the fight between his soon-to-be wife and his soon-to-be sister-in-law was over.

Akashi was quite surprised to see that Lin was in a good mood. She was chatting with her sister, talking in friendly terms.

Oh, and Lin had lost. So, it got Akashi more confused. And it seemed that Suyin was more confused by her sister's change in behavior.

They were around the guest room, sitting at the table, Lin's nephews getting to know her.

"Didn't think you'd start dating again after Tenzin," said Suyin as Akashi arrived at the table. "So, how did he manage to seduce you? Sweet talking?"

"Actually, it was me who did it," Lin sighed. "I was already frustrated after being alone for so much time. And he was a charming policeman. One thing led to another, and here we are."

"Oh, here he is," Suyin noticed Akashi and smiled at him. "So, brother-in-law. Where have you been? Do you hide when Lin starts getting angry?"

"Well, I had some doubts with some suspicious individuals," Akashi replied dismissively.

"Oh, what happened?" asked Suyin.

"Nothing, really. Aiwei works with the Red Lotus order."

"What? Are you sure? He's been with me ever since I found this city. And he's a very trusted counselor."

"Don't worry, I didn't arrest him or anything," Akashi replied. "If he's innocent, nothing will happen. But let's not ruin the mood."

Lin gave Akashi a suspicious look. She knew that he was cooking something since he didn't beat that man to a pulp. It meant that he just made sure Aiwei knew that he was a suspect. And if Akashi did that, it meant that he was expecting the former to get confused, agitated, and make a mistake of contacting Zaheer.

She had been with Akashi long enough to know how he worked.

It was lucky that Suyin didn't pursue the matter any further and concentrated on their family reunion.

Meanwhile, Akashi was casually smiling at people while sensing the winds, watching over the man who acted suspiciously while walking around.

'That's right, motherfucker. I'm Doakes, and you can't see me…' Akashi thought, smirked.

Ever since Akashi made the first step in the matriarch's palace, Aiwei recognized him from the first glance and knew who he was.

After all, he was the boyfriend of the Avatar, a target that he and the Order of the Red Lotus thought that they had to get rid of, so they could take the world to the next level.

To Aiwei, Zaheer wasn't a criminal. He was a man with far foresight, a man of wisdom, a man with vision. And he had chosen to believe in him, like everyone in their case. He had helped them in the past, funded their operations, network intelligence gathering, and more.

But it was unfortunate that they failed to kidnap the Avatar, and they got arrested in the process.

Aiwei thought that he could never get caught, considering that he and Zaheer never met face to face.

'Did Kuvira make a mistake… No. That Akashi is a brilliant detective. He has found something on me, and he made sure that I know he knows. He wants me to go and meet Zaheer, so that I would lead him.'

Aiwei hid a smirk as he closed the doors behind him, resting on the bed.

'He would never expect that I only meet Zaheer in the spirit world. That's how I've never been found out. And besides, I have no lead that leads to me. All my financial involvements are under the name of the patriarch.'

And by the patriarch, he meant Suyin's husband.

Closing his eyes, he started meditating, trying to connect to the spirit world, unaware that someone was standing above him.

Someone floating in the air, his feet barely touching the ground.

Aiwei felt something amiss and opened his eyes, looking left and right.

He touched his racing heart, thinking that he was imagining things. Though he heard and saw nothing, his spiritual senses alerted him. He hadn't achieved the necessary peace to reach the meditative state required to enter the Spirit World.

'I'm just a bit anxious that someone knows about me. That's okay. I'll deal with it.'

He closed his eyes again, with more determination to enter the spirit world.

And so, he forced his way through anxiety and fear, making it into the spirit world.

Meanwhile, above his sleeping body, floated Akashi, hands behind his back.

'Interesting. He couldn't hear me, see me. Yet, he somehow had a hunch that I was here, watching over him.

'Yet, the hardest part of not getting caught was suppressing my urge to make a smart remark about how I kept moving around him.'

Akashi observed the man. Thanks to his perks related to wisdom, he could see things people couldn't see and have understanding beyond them.

The body produced chi waves that transmitted through air, so did his brain, and all.

'So, this is the meditative state that allowed one to reach the spirit world. And judging from the brain waves, this man is agitated… he's talking to someone. I guess they met.'

Akashi crossed his feet in the air, closed his eyes, and tried to meditate. When you have a perk called solid mind, it was easy to ignore all of the extra thoughts and focus. In no time, Akashi's soul moved to another dimension.

He looked at the sky that turned green. The world was like a forest, in a frozen land, with some things that defied the common physical laws.

Akashi had been here.

"Spirit World," he muttered, looking at his hands.

Even though it looked like he had his body, it wasn't.

He waved his hand, but no wind moved.

"So, the system is useless here?" Akashi muttered.

[Ding. You have learned Spiritual Projection.]

"Sorry for doubting you," added Akashi.

But now, he decided to have a face-to-face with the man who got on his bad side. And he knew how to find people in the spirit world.
