Pampered by My Ex's Cousin

Chapter 523 - 515: Awkward Living Together (Three)

Chapter 523 - 515: Awkward Living Together (Three)

She looked at the plate of chicken wings again; there were more dried chili peppers than chicken wings.

She frowned, glancing towards the man opposite her who was laughing with Fenfen, having just complained in her mind about his excessive pampering of his daughter. Now, she couldn’t help but criticize him for child abuse.

No wonder Ji Mingyue often used to describe his own brother as ’lunatic’.

"What does Fenfen want to eat now?" Ji Chicheng raised his eyebrows at Fenfen again, "Another bite?"

As he spoke, he secretly slipped a small piece of chicken wing skin to Fenfen’s mouth.

Fenfen immediately closed her mouth, her crying ceased abruptly, and she shook her head. She crouched down with her chubby little body, hugged the bowl of half-spilled egg custard, and started scooping it up spoon by spoon.

Ji Anning: "..."

Indeed, paternal love was something incomprehensible to ordinary people.

Her gaze fixed on Ji Chicheng’s face, which was brimming with a warm smile, so gentle and attractive that she was transfixed.

Watching Fenfen eat voraciously, Ji Chicheng smiled contently, ready to look away. His gaze swept over Ji Anning’s face, and his expression turned cold.

Ji Anning quickly snapped back to reality, hastily shifting her gaze to Fenfen.

She had no appetite to eat, unsure of what feelings to harbor when dining at the same table with him.

Especially... especially when it was just the three of them as a ’family’.

It should have been a happy occasion, a picture of happiness.

At the table full of dishes, Ji Chicheng’s chopsticks had only graced two of the more plainly prepared ones.

Ji Anning didn’t understand why they had to prepare so many dishes for just the two of them eating, but then she remembered how it often was when she stayed at Charles’s house, where it was usually just her and Fenfen dining, and the table was always full. Therefore, she considered this situation normal.

After dinner, Ji Chicheng carried Fenfen out of the dining room.

Ji Anning felt awkward and out of place, unsure of what to do, so she simply helped the household staff clean up the dishes in the kitchen.

After cleaning up, she took a paper towel to dry her hands. As she walked out of the dining room and was about to enter the living room, she heard a blood-curdling scream.

It sent a chill down her spine.

She hurriedly ran out, only to see Ji Chicheng holding Fenfen, sitting on the couch, both of them fixated on the TV screen. Glancing at the screen, she didn’t dare take a second look.

A horror movie!

This man was actually watching a horror movie with a little girl barely over a year old...

Ji Anning looked at Fenfen again; her little face was bright, with eyes unwaveringly glued to the screen, so engrossed and calm.

She couldn’t understand it at all, and even less could she fathom what Ji Chicheng was thinking.

Suddenly, another scream pierced the air, causing Ji Anning to shrink back.

"Scared?"

Ji Chicheng looked down and asked Fenfen.

Fenfen shook her head, "Not scared!"

Ji Anning was speechless: "..."

"Miss Anning, I have prepared your room. I can show you to it now," said the auntie who had been busy in the kitchen, approaching Ji Anning respectfully.

Her room... was she really going to stay here?

Ji Anning sighed silently, a helpless breath, then nodded to the auntie, "Alright, thank you."

The auntie gave a slight smile, leading the way with her footsteps, and Ji Anning followed.

"Mommy."

Fenfen, who was engrossed in the horror movie, suddenly spotted her and called out loudly.
