Chapter 524 - 516 Awkward Cohabitation Life (Part 4)
Ji Anning stopped in her tracks and turned to look, "What is it?"
Her eyes inadvertently caught the television screen again, and as she felt a shudder of fear, she heard Fenfen call out to her, "Mommy, come... watch..."
The little girl was pointing at the large TV screen, inviting her mommy to watch with her.
Ji Anning’s mouth twitched, and she shook her head, "Mommy won’t watch, Mommy is going to read a book."
"Watch... watch..." Fenfen frowned, dissatisfied with Ji Anning’s refusal of her invitation and started to throw a small tantrum.
And Ji Chicheng, who was holding her, remained motionless, still absorbed in the television screen.
Ji Anning looked at him, then at the stubborn Fenfen, feeling very conflicted.
She dared not watch horror films; she had tried once before and ended up having nightmares for many nights afterward.
Just then, the auntie, who had gone upstairs and was waiting for her at the staircase, also spoke up, "Miss Anning, why don’t you go watch TV first? I still have some things to take care of in the kitchen, and I’ll come to take you to your room later."
The auntie said and hurried down the stairs before Ji Anning could even respond.
Fenfen was still persistently calling out to her, that little girl, once set on something was really obstinate.
This trait was... very much like him.
Ji Anning couldn’t help but look at the man slouched on the sofa, who, faced with the terrifying scenes on TV, still seemed so at ease.
One hand was placed on Fenfen’s little head, his long fingers carelessly playing with Fenfen’s little horn braids.
"Mommy..."
Facing the little girl’s eager gaze, Ji Anning furrowed her brows, thinking she might as well go down and watch with her for a while.
She turned and tiptoed down the stairs, walking over to sit on the sofa, leaving a distance of about two people’s space from Ji Chicheng.
"Mommy," Fenfen wriggled out of Ji Chicheng’s embrace and climbed onto Ji Anning, "Kiss."
Puckering her little lips, she kissed Ji Anning on the cheek.
"Ah..."
Another terrifying scream came from the TV, the scene extremely frightening, and Ji Anning also let out a cry, shrinking her neck and looking away.
Unintentionally, she met a pair of deep black eyes.
Perhaps because of her startled cry, Ji Chicheng turned his head to look at her, his gaze cold and aloof with a hint of disdain.
Ji Anning, with a shrunk neck, awkwardly shifted her gaze away and continued to look at the computer screen.
But the images on the screen were just too... too stimulating; she dared not look directly at them.
The little girl on her, however, was watching intently; Ji Anning couldn’t even find a topic to chat with her about.
After thinking for a moment, she simply took out her phone, which was showing a few text messages; she clicked to open them.
"Ji Anning, are you aiming for the stars? Even Director Beck personally sought you out."
This was sent by Qi Helian.
She quickly replied back, unsure whether his words were sarcastic or teasing, "Isn’t it all thanks to the shine of you, Mr. Qi? Otherwise, how could Director Beck take notice of me? Speaking of which, Mr. Qi, you truly are my benefactor in the entertainment industry."
Qi Helian immediately replied, "Just say the word, and you can become as popular as you want."
Ji Anning took it as a joke, smiling as she responded, "I’ll thank you in advance then, and when I’m ready to shoot for the stars, I’ll be sure to call upon your help, Mr. Qi."
"I’m waiting for the chance to see the great beauty perform."
Qi Helian sent one text and, before Ji Anning could reply, he quickly followed up with another, "Speaking of which, you should have been taken back home by Ji Chicheng by now, right?"
