Chapter 384 - 378: The Little Boat of Friendship (Part Seven)
’Pfft’
Ji Anning finally couldn’t hold back and laughed. She covered her mouth with one hand and lightly punched Ji Chicheng’s shoulder with her fist, "You’re so bad."
Ji Chicheng raised his eyebrows seriously at her, "Love me to death?"
Ji Anning: "..."
The light blinked, and the car started again. Anning followed Chicheng and looked ahead. Her eyes, still veiled in a mist of tears, reflected the city lights, revealing an endless melancholy.
Was their relationship, so shunned by others, finally going to be known by all?
She turned to look at Ji Chicheng again. No matter when or from what angle, he always dazzled her eyes, causing her to fall for him completely.
"Sigh." Ji Anning exhaled after a moment’s reverie, "You’ve turned me into a selfish villain."
Ji Chicheng said, "One day you’ll know that I’m worth giving up all that mess you had."
Ji Anning smiled a noncommittal smile at his words.
His words sounded arrogant, but they were indeed true. With his excellence, how could he not be worth it?
...
For the next two days, N City was bathed in sunshine. Ji Chicheng would go out every morning and return home in the afternoon to accompany Anning.
The house was warm. Anning sat cross-legged on the furry mat by the bed in her oversized cartoon home clothes, hugging a white fluffy object and teasing it by grabbing its little paws.
’Knock knock knock’
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. It was unlocked, and as she lifted her head to look, the person who had knocked already entered.
Ji Anning was momentarily stunned in surprise.
"Danning." Upon realizing who it was, she hurriedly put the puppy down and got up from the bed, supporting herself with her hands on the edge.
Yang Danning was not wearing shoes, walking silently with just her sock-clad feet.
She held an orange Hermès bag in her hand, dressed in designer clothes head to toe. She walked towards Anning, taking in every corner of the room down to the last detail.
Ji Chicheng’s white shirt from the previous day hung on the coat rack along with one of his belts. The smoking grey sheets were a mess.
The sunlight streamed in through the floor-to-ceiling windows, making even Anning’s beautiful face seem even more radiant.
Yang Danning clenched the straps of her bag tightly, glaring at Anning with resentment, "Ji Anning, aren’t you afraid of being struck by lightning for this?"
"Danning, I’m sorry." Anning apologized, bowing her head.
She owed her that apology for all the kindness Danning had shown her since childhood. Whether Danning wanted to yell or hit her, Anning would accept it just for her to vent her anger.
Here, in Chicheng’s room where he’d lived for three years, the air was filled with his presence. One could even picture him sitting comfortably on the balcony, reading a book.
Not even a ten-mile spring breeze compared to a fraction of him.
The more she thought about it, the more imbalanced and restless she felt, the stronger her desire for possession grew. Danning controlled herself, not allowing her thoughts to go further.
She shifted her gaze away from Chicheng’s belongings and smirked at Anning, "Ha, when you told me I couldn’t control him, did you mean that only you could?"
Anning didn’t know how to respond. Shaking her head wouldn’t be believed, nodding was certainly not an option.
Finding no words to defend herself, she could only keep her head down, allowing Danning to vent.
Seeing that Anning remained silent, Danning pressed closer, "I’ve always been good to you, haven’t I? Why are you doing this to me?"
Her voice rose with emotion, "Don’t you know I liked him?"
