Chapter 383 - 377: The Little Boat of Friendship (Part Six)
After all, she wasn’t often at such events.
Especially abroad, at nineteen, she inevitably felt nervous.
Watching her timid appearance, Qi Helian beside her had a movement in his eyes, his hands trembling by his side, lifting his head several times before putting it back down.
Eventually, he clenched his fists and directed his gaze away from Ji Anning toward Ji Chicheng, waiting to see how he would handle the situation.
"She’s with me now."
Finally, Ji Chicheng spoke. He looked down, his gaze high and mighty, looking at Yang Danning, "You throw this glass of wine on me, I might overlook it for her sake."
His voice paused, glancing at Ji Anning behind him, and then his tone grew colder, "But if it spills on her, there will be no friendship to discuss."
The expression on his face changed instantly.
Having said that, he took Ji Anning’s hand and, pulling her along, made his way heavily towards the banquet hall entrance.
"Uncle," Ji Anning, considering Yang Danning, refused to leave, but Ji Chicheng was forcefully dragging her, giving her no choice.
She turned back to look at Yang Danning, who was watching them through teary eyes, her slender frame shaking violently.
Ji Anning’s eyes reddened, and she started to cry.
Dragged to the entrance by Ji Chicheng, she gathered all her strength and shook off his hand, "Uncle, can you let me say a word to Danning?"
Crying out to Ji Chicheng, she turned to go back.
Ji Chicheng pulled her back, grabbed her by the shoulders, and pressed her against the wall, forcing her to meet his eyes.
"What to say to her?" he raised an eyebrow, "Tell her we aren’t together? That us holding hands is still the pure relationship of uncle and niece?"
He didn’t give Ji Anning a chance to speak, "If holding hands isn’t convincing enough, why not be more direct."
With that, he leaned in and kissed her lips directly.
"Mmm..."
Ji Anning’s eyes widened, her hands pushing against Ji Chicheng’s chest, trying hard to push him away, "Uncle, I get it, we’re together now."
Her mouth muffled, she stammered in an attempt to plea.
Only then did Ji Chicheng let her go, but he still didn’t give her a chance to look back for Yang Danning, instead lifting her in his arms and heading straight for the elevator.
"I will have a good talk with her, and I’ll give you a chance to see her another day, but not today."
An unequivocal attitude.
Ji Anning had no way to fight against him.
Once in the car, Ji Chicheng immediately started the vehicle, and as they left the hotel’s square, a trace of relaxation appeared on Ji Chicheng’s stern face.
Ji Anning just turned to look at him, catching that barely visible ease. Her heart involuntarily softened.
She touched the tears on her face, asking him, "Did you know Danning was there?"
"If I say I didn’t know, would you believe me?" Ji Chicheng glanced at Ji Anning and reached out for her hand.
Ji Anning coldly pushed him away, "Don’t touch me."
Her heart already softened, she didn’t want him to see it, so she didn’t look at him, instead turned her head to look out the window.
"Heh." Ji Chicheng chuckled, his eyes and brows softening in a rare smile.
At a red light, he stopped the car and forcibly took Ji Anning’s hand to his collar, "My collar’s about to freeze."
"Serves you right." Ji Anning glared at Ji Chicheng irritably, but her hand lingered on his collar, unwilling to let go.
She pouted, "You could have just pulled away from mine."
Ji Chicheng frowned, pretending to be annoyed, "It’s my first time playing the suffering card, and you saw right through it."
