One Pet Gets Married

Chapter 59

Chapter 59

After Tang You'an and Song Xici left, Chang Ye had barely exited the study when Meng Meng grabbed her and pulled her into the party.

Although she was a D-list celebrity, she was still a star, and quite attractive too. Everyone wanted to take photos with her, so she smiled and agreed.

By around ten o'clock, most people had finished partying and started to leave one by one.

After Meng Meng closed the door, only the two of them remained.

"Come on, let's keep drinking and chatting! We haven't gotten together in ages, and now it's just us two..." Just as Chang Ye was about to say she should leave too, Meng Meng pulled her back to the sofa, cracked open a can of beer, and handed it to her.

"I really can't... I'm too dizzy..." Chang Ye collapsed onto the sofa, waving her hand in refusal.

"Then just be dizzy! It's nice to get a bit tipsy now and then, it's fun, right? Besides, there are no annoying men here, you don't need to be on guard..." Meng Meng shook the beer can.

So Chang Ye had no choice but to accept the beer, clink cans with Meng Meng, and drink half of it in one go.

"Impressive!" Meng Meng gave her a thumbs up, then took several gulps herself.

"Actually, I've been here before," Chang Ye leaned back on the sofa, staring blankly at the coffee table.

"What?!" Meng Meng was stunned.

"Once at an amusement park... I was splashed with water by a male celebrity's fans, and then she brought me here..." Chang Ye didn't know why she was saying this.

"You've met her?" Meng Meng asked.

"Mm..." Chang Ye nodded.

"And then?" Even drunk, Meng Meng's gossip-seeking spirit was still burning strong.

"Why did she care whether I lived or died..."

"Hey!" Meng Meng struggled to her feet, reached out, and ruffled Chang Ye's hair. "Here's a pat for you!"

Chang Ye propped her chin on her fist and giggled.

"That's hilarious... Then I was taken to her room, she didn't say much... I just took a shower in that bathroom, and... inexplicably started crying. I really hate that feeling, truly," Chang Ye looked at Meng Meng, smiling. "I don't usually cry."

Seeing tears glistening in Chang Ye's eyes as she spoke, Meng Meng quickly pulled out some tissues and handed them to her.

"Then, when I came down, she had left for something... But she left a note on the table. She said she heard me sneeze and thought I should eat something light, so she made me porridge... told me to help myself. Haha, it was terribly awful, I tell you..." At this point, Chang Ye sniffled, pressing the tissue to her eyes, her voice trembling, "She actually cooked, but it was such terrible porridge, so bad it made me cry..."

Meng Meng didn't know what to say after hearing this, so she just moved closer, put an arm around Chang Ye's shoulders, and patted her.

When Zhou Yi returned home with a cold, exhausted expression, it was already midnight.

As soon as she opened the door, Zhou Yi was stunned by the scene before her. Not only was the entire house a mess, but there seemed to be two drunks sprawled on the sofa.

But it was also somewhat expected.

Bending down to take off her high heels, changing into comfortable cotton slippers, lazily putting the heels in the shoe cabinet, pushing it closed, and kicking aside a beer can, Zhou Yi draped her coat over her arm, tugged at the collar of her work shirt, and walked towards the sofa.

"Meng Meng, get up, go sleep in the guest room..." Just as Zhou Yi was about to speak, she suddenly noticed another woman lying next to Meng Meng.

The woman wore a skin-colored trench coat, the smell of alcohol strong on her. Her fluffy, milk tea-colored curly hair nestled against her cheeks, making her facial features look incredibly soft, her skin as delicate as a flower, though flushed, presumably from drinking quite a bit.

At that moment, Zhou Yi suddenly forgot what she was going to say.

Holding her clothes, she walked forward and crouched in front of the woman, carefully examining her face, then slowly reached out to touch her brow and eyes.

Chang Ye's brows furrowed slightly, her face tilting up a bit, before she continued sleeping.

Finally, Zhou Yi spoke softly: "I've been thinking a lot lately. I wonder, why is it that neither of us is willing to take a step back?"

"You say I'm full of decadent capitalist air, I say you're penniless with nothing to brag about. We can argue about everything from whether we haggled over a purchase, compared prices, got ripped off, or whether getting ripped off was stupid... We always manage to say things that hit each other's weak spots, hurting each other. From another perspective, doesn't this also show... that no one understands each other better than we do?"

Zhou Yi held Chang Ye's hand, raising it to her eyes.

Then, Zhou Yi sighed, carelessly tossed her coat aside, pushed Meng Meng to one side, and picked Chang Ye up in her arms. She turned, walked to the stairs, climbed them step by step, and carried her into her own room.

After laying Chang Ye on the bed, Zhou Yi took out her makeup removal wipes, sat on the edge of the bed, and began to remove Chang Ye's makeup.

As she pressed the wipe against Chang Ye's face, Zhou Yi's movements gradually slowed, just staring at her intently.

Afterward, Zhou Yi let out a breath, went to wring out a washcloth, washed Chang Ye's face, then fetched a basin of water and another towel. She removed Chang Ye's shoe covers, took off her shoes, and carefully wiped her feet.

"Good night." After finishing everything, Zhou Yi stood by the bed looking at her for a while, softly uttering two words before preparing to leave the room.

However, at this moment, Chang Ye quietly reached out and grasped her wrist.

So Zhou Yi's steps halted. She turned her head to look at Chang Ye, who had rolled over onto her side, one hand firmly gripping Zhou Yi's wrist.

Seeing this, Zhou Yi's lips parted slightly: "Are you awake?"

But Chang Ye didn't answer, only two clear tears rolled down from the corners of her eyes, one after the other.

"Little Ye?" Zhou Yi looked at her face, raising her eyebrows slightly, inexplicably feeling her own eyes redden.

After a while, Chang Ye's hand gradually loosened, the tear tracks slowly dried, and her breathing became steadier.

Zhou Yi looked down at the floor, then half-lay on the bed, turning her head to look at Chang Ye sleeping beside her. She reached out to touch Chang Ye's scattered long hair, then quietly withdrew her hand.

"We said that no matter how badly we fought, we would never mention breaking up..." As Zhou Yi spoke, she slowly lay down, looking at the sleeping Chang Ye, a trembling breath escaping her chest.

"I don't want to break up, I really don't, but I don't know why I always say things I don't mean..." Zhou Yi held Chang Ye's fingers to her lips, gently nibbling on them.

"I have plans to spend my life with you, you know? You're the only one in my eyes. Do you know that? My mom always says I'm blinded by lust, that she raised me for nothing... So what? I don't care. I only need you to care about me..."

Zhou Yi pulled up the blanket, covered Chang Ye with it, and tucked her in.

"I'm sorry, I went too far..." Zhou Yi took a deep breath, closed her eyes, and held Chang Ye's hand tightly. "I'm sorry, I still don't want to leave you... because I really can't..."
