Chapter 58
Chapter 58
Although the building wasn't particularly tall, it was still over thirty feet high. Falling from such a height, even with the best of luck, would likely result in broken bones or a concussion at the very least.
In that instant, Song Xici's mind went completely blank.
However, what happened next was unexpected. Tang You'an's form remained completely unaffected, her back perfectly straight and her shoulders steady. Midway through her descent, Tang You'an's brows furrowed slightly. She executed a flip, gripping the sword handle in reverse with her right hand. As the sword tip touched the ground, it carved a deep furrow, while Tang You'an landed in a half-kneeling position, the tip of her right foot touching the ground.
Slowly raising her head, Tang You'an turned to look at the staff member responsible for controlling the wire harness. One of the staff members standing there involuntarily took a step back.
"You'an! Are you alright?!" Song Xici rushed over to her.
"I'm fine," Tang You'an said, turning her gaze back to Song Xici and reaching out to pat her head.
"Really? Does it hurt? Come on, let's go to the changing room. I'll check you over..." Song Xici was afraid Tang You'an might be putting on a brave face.
"Alright, I'll let you check," Unable to refuse her, Tang You'an glanced at the director who was scolding and replacing staff members, then had someone help her remove the wire harness. She flicked the sword, tossing it to Han Yan, and walked with Song Xici into the changing room.
Tang You'an had barely sat down, not even having rolled up her pant leg, when Song Xici was already presenting her with several ointments.
But when they did roll up the pant leg, Song Xici was stunned. Tang You'an's knee didn't look as badly injured as she had imagined; it was just slightly red on one side.
"So qinggong really exists?" Song Xici asked in amazement, gently massaging Tang You'an's knee.
"Of course it does, though very few can master it," Tang You'an looked at her. "Originally, I could leap up to forty or fifty feet using borrowed force. Of course, I've never heard of the kind of godlike qinggong you see in TV dramas where people fly around."
Song Xici was so shocked she almost hiccupped.
"But those people really are..." Song Xici frowned. "We really need to be careful."
Tang You'an looked at her and curved her lips into a smile. "I told you, nothing will happen to me."
"Mm, I believe you," Song Xici nodded.
After that, they went back outside.
"How is it?" As soon as they came out, Director Ouyang Du and others immediately approached.
"No major issues," Tang You'an replied.
"That's good. I've already replaced the staff and re-rigged the wire harness. I'll test the safety again, and once it's completely fine, we'll continue shooting. How does that sound?" Ouyang Du asked.
"That works," Tang You'an nodded.
However, everyone present couldn't help but marvel at Tang You'an's astonishing feat. It was truly impressive.
In the blink of an eye, it was the 14th.
Tang You'an and Song Xici rushed from the film set to the reality show's recording location. This episode still featured Feng Xiaoxiao and Gu Xueke, but fortunately, these two weren't as difficult as before, making the filming process much smoother.
After spending a few days recording three episodes of "My Farming Diary with Them," Tang You'an and Song Xici hurried back home without a moment's rest.
Song Xici, blushing, locked the five items from the overseas purchase that the housekeeper had brought in a small cabinet. Then she put on some makeup, changed her clothes, and hurriedly left with Tang You'an for Zhou Yi's place.
Meng Meng's social circle was surprisingly vast. Apart from Meng Meng, Tang You'an, and Song Xici, there were over twenty other people. Fortunately, Zhou Yi's house was large enough to accommodate everyone.
Chang Ye got out of the taxi at the foot of Zhou Yi's small villa, looked up at the brightly lit building, and adjusted her coat.
The last time she had been here was when she was attacked by Yu Boxuan's fans at the amusement park. Just as she was about to punch someone in anger, Zhou Yi had draped a coat over her shoulders, led her out of the park, into a car, and brought her here.
Composing herself and taking a deep breath, Chang Ye pressed the doorbell.
Meng Meng opened the door, and shortly after, Chang Ye entered, wearing a skin-colored coat and jeans, carrying a khaki-colored small bag.
By this time, the birthday party was in full swing, with everyone playing various games and having fun with Meng Meng.
Chang Ye looked around but didn't see Zhou Yi. She didn't say anything, just tucked a strand of hair behind her ear.
"Zhou Yi is busy working in the neighboring city and couldn't make it back," Song Xici walked over, handing a glass of wine to Chang Ye, who had just put on disposable shoe covers.
"Thank you, but you misunderstand. I didn't intend to look for her," Chang Ye paused for a moment, then smiled and said, "I just finished work today, so I'm late. Oh, right, I brought the item."
"Let's go inside to talk," Tang You'an said, then walked into the adjacent study with her wine glass. Chang Ye and Song Xici followed, closing the heavy door behind them.
"Miss Tang, I brought the item," Chang Ye said, opening her bag and taking out a small, rectangular object.
"Thank you," Tang You'an was momentarily stunned as she took the object. Wasn't it supposed to be a keychain?
"Well... to be honest, I was playing with the keychain on my way here and accidentally felt a hard object inside the stuffed animal. Then I discovered a zipper on the back of the toy, so I opened it and took this out," Chang Ye continued.
Tang You'an pressed a button on the object, but there was no response.
"So..." Tang You'an's gaze moved from the small object to Chang Ye.
"It's a miniature voice recorder, quite old-fashioned. I tried turning it on, but there was no response. It's probably broken. After all, it was raining heavily that night, so it got wet, and then being kept inside the toy prevented it from drying properly. But Miss Tang, this isn't a simple matter, is it?" Chang Ye looked steadily at Tang You'an. "At the very least, what's inside must be very important, right?"
"There should be some important things," Tang You'an nodded. She wasn't entirely sure what was inside, but if her original self had struggled to tell her to retrieve it, there must be a good reason.
"It's related to those people who were chasing you, isn't it?" Chang Ye asked again.
Tang You'an nodded.
"That nightclub... there's a group that has long been based there. Now it seems... you didn't happen to offend them, did you?" Chang Ye's voice was clear yet soft, making her sound very gentle.
"Do you know something about this?" Tang You'an tilted her head, looking at her.
"A friend who entered the entertainment industry with me..." Chang Ye frowned slightly. "Lu Ying, something very bad happened to her. After that, I started keeping an eye on that nightclub."
Hearing this, Song Xici suddenly turned to look at Chang Ye.
Lu Ying, she knew about her. She was the one who, along with Feng Chengyuan, had exposed herself online as a small-time actress who had been subjected to S&M. Song Xici really hadn't expected that Lu Ying and Chang Ye were friends. In any case, after the exposure, although it initially caused a stir, most people just mocked her. Led by internet trolls and online sleuths, many people thought that as a small-time actress, she must have done it for money. Later, as the buzz died down, news about her gradually disappeared.
"How is Lu Ying now?" Tang You'an couldn't help but ask.
"She's in a terrible state. Her face was injured, and the scar restoration wasn't successful. Her acting career is over, and she doesn't have many other skills. Good jobs won't take her, fearing she might scare customers, so she's washing dishes in a restaurant. I help her out occasionally, but it's limited. After all, I was paying off debts myself before," Chang Ye said, her brows furrowed tightly.
"What kind of person is controlling this group..." Tang You'an looked at her. "You've been watching them for so long. Do you have any leads?"
"No, my time is limited after all," Chang Ye's eyes darkened slightly, then she shook her head.
"I see," Tang You'an sighed, raising her hand to rub her temples.
Tang You'an nodded, "It seems we can only try to find someone to restore it."
"It's really not a good idea to let outsiders repair this..." Song Xici frowned. "If the information leaks, it could be troublesome."
Besides, who knows if there's any unspeakable content recorded on it...
"I can try if you trust me," Chang Ye spoke up at this point.
"Oh, right, you're a tech whiz..." Song Xici's eyes suddenly lit up.
She had almost forgotten that Zhou Yi and Chang Ye were practically omnipotent geniuses.
Not only were they both gorgeous, but they could also fight, repair all kinds of hardware and software. When they were in school, many girls would turn to them first whenever they had problems with their computers or other devices. Moreover, these two were exceptional at gaming, with seamless coordination. They had played several online games and always quickly dominated the servers, earning the label of "couple of destruction" from other players who cursed them.
"I wouldn't dare call myself a genius. But I haven't tinkered with these things for a long time. I can only say I'll give it a try. If I can't do it, then I'll ask Zhou..." Chang Ye paused here, then slowly continued, "If I can't do it, you can try asking Zhou Yi."
"Alright... then we'll trouble you first... It's just that we have to catch a night flight back to Wenhua City soon to prepare for filming, so we can't stay here too long. If you and Zhou Yi manage to restore it, please contact us," Tang You'an finally looked at the time, then raised her head to look at her.
"Okay," Chang Ye looked at Tang You'an and nodded solemnly. "Just for the chance to make those people pay, I'll do my best to fix it."
"We'll be going then," Tang You'an checked the time again. "You stay here and enjoy the party."
"Alright," Chang Ye nodded after carefully putting away the device.
So Tang You'an and Song Xici hurried to the airport together. After completing the check-in procedures, while waiting to board, Tang You'an's phone vibrated again.
She received a message from Gu Boning:
"Here's another lead. I heard that above Vitamin, there's also a male artist surnamed Q. This Q is very close to the big boss and often dines with him. Q has a girlfriend, an actress surnamed L, and they often show off their relationship publicly. But in reality, Q often ignores her and has been involved with many actresses privately. Moreover, he tends to seek revenge on anyone who has rejected his advances."
After reading this, Tang You'an rubbed her chin, narrowing her eyes as she stared at the letters Q and L for a long time, searching her mind for everything she knew related to them.
"What's wrong?" Song Xici, who had just finished a game to relieve stress, turned her head to look at her.
"A male artist surnamed Q and a female artist surnamed L, who could they be talking about?" Tang You'an looked around before leaning in to whisper in Song Xici's ear.
"When I hear L, the first person I think of is Liao Bixin..." Song Xici looked at the message, searching her memory.
"Liao Bixin's boyfriend is Qi Sheng, right?" Tang You'an asked in the next second.
"That's right!" Song Xici's eyes lit up. She clenched her right hand into a fist and hit her left palm, trying to keep her voice low, "Damn, I just remembered something. That jerk pursued me before!"
Hearing this, Tang You'an narrowed her eyes slightly, then opened Weibo again, switched to a secondary account, and pulled up a Weibo blogger called "Pilgrimage Site" who specialized in criticizing Song Xici.
