Chapter 1451 - 782: We Have It

It's supposed to be good news, but it's not exactly fully good news. For Jimmy, the church agreeing to give him the usage rights is already quite a gain, considering it's not easy to snatch anything from the church. Yet, since it's just usage rights, ensuring secrecy about the door inside that house is difficult, as he can't resist if the church reclaims the house.

However, the church would need a reason to reclaim the house. For someone like Jimmy, an outsider in the exorcism priest hierarchy who draws a lot of attention, they shouldn't randomly come up with fabricated reasons to target him. He might be able to maintain this secret for a while.

Jimmy decided not to inform Nia about his plans for the house yet. He cared deeply about the matter, and wanted to wait until he had a detailed plan before telling her. Besides, he couldn't tell her the main reason. The environment around the house is quite nice, which is a sufficient overt reason to handle any queries Nia might have.

Upon receiving the news from Father Rodney, Jimmy immediately sought out Roland. Roland is now able to move without a wheelchair, which is worth celebrating. At least he won't have to worry about inconvenience when going out.

Learning of the news, Roland was also delighted. Regardless of what comes next, if Jimmy actually secures that place, he wouldn't need to go elsewhere upon returning, so they both went to Brooklyn again. Jimmy took Roland to the church to apologize to Father Koch, and then they could openly go to check out that house.

However, Father Koch didn't seem very pleased. When Jimmy and Roland arrived at the house, they discovered that there were still two kids inside, and not only them, but others were in different rooms as well. The place had turned from a temporary homeless shelter into a gathering spot.

This was really awkward. Jimmy had initially planned to rent a small room nearby for the two kids to let them leave, but things became more complicated now.

The two stood outside the house, looking at it. Roland asked, "How do you plan to deal with them?"

Jimmy shook his head, "Originally, there were only two kids inside. I planned to rent a small room for them to stay and clear the place for me to renovate, but now it's not possible. There are already five people inside, and that might not be the final count. I can't accommodate them all. Let's go back for now, I'll think of another way."

Roland: "Renovate? What about the door inside?"

Jimmy: "You said the door is in the basement. Maybe I can have a good discussion with the construction company, only remove the upper part for renovation and keep the lower part the same."

Roland looked at Jimmy. "Will they keep the secret? Maybe they'll find out..."

Jimmy shrugged. "As long as you pay, the designer will design according to our requirements. Just isolate the basement section, trust me, if you pay enough, there will be people willing to keep the secret to help us build the house. Let's go."

Roland nodded; in New York, there weren't many places for him to exert his strength, so Jimmy had to make the decisions since he was more familiar and was practically a local.

Now all the troubles were on Jimmy's shoulders. Thankfully, he had ample time. He usually didn't have much to do, slacking off at work was already a normal operation for him. The only thing was that he hadn't figured out when to honesty tell Nia about this matter.

Once the contacts were almost made, Jimmy couldn't delay any longer. After all, even if you set aside the cost of land property, just constructing a two-story wooden house would require over $100 per square foot, plus design fees and renovation, the total costs exceeded 200,000, which was not a small sum. Even if money wasn't an issue for Jimmy, he still needed to discuss it with his family, it wasn't as simple as spending tens of thousands to buy a car.

The issue with money wasn't really a big problem. Jimmy was quite clear-headed about it. The location was indeed excellent, and the church had given him a lease for decades, which was practically gifting him a piece of land. The overall cost was actually very low, and for anyone else, they would certainly agree to it immediately.

The only thing that might be hard for Nia to accept was that Jimmy hadn't discussed it with her, but it wasn't a big problem. Taking her to see it should handle the situation, and the house's design and renovation hadn't started yet, allowing Nia to be involved as long as the basement remains untouched.

Jimmy took the neatly organized photos of the house and its surroundings, along with a marked map, and after careful inspection, packed up to prepare to head home.

"Dear, I have good news to tell you!" Jimmy said as he pushed open the door. Nia, who was originally sitting on the sofa, saw the door open and Jimmy come in, immediately stood up and rushed over, smiling joyfully while wrapping her arms around Jimmy's neck, "I also have good news to tell you."

Jimmy extended his foot to close the door, carrying Nia towards the sofa. "Wow, what's the good news?"

Nia: "It's on the table."

Beside the sofa, Nia released her hold, and Jimmy looked at the coffee table in front of the sofa. A white stick with its back facing up was placed near the sofa on the coffee table. Jimmy picked it up and took a glance, looking at Nia in surprise, "Really!? Am I seeing things?"

Nia smiled at Jimmy and nodded, "Yeah! You're not wrong, we're going to be parents."

Jimmy let go of the pregnancy test stick, allowing it to drop onto the carpet, and directly picked up Nia, laughing loudly, and spun around several times, repeating "Really? Really?" all the way until Nia playfully tapped Jimmy a few times, prompting him to let go and sit on the sofa.
