Chapter 1442 - 777: Wrap-Up (Part 2)

Jimmy discovered this scenario long ago — the Heart Eye Vision isn't all-powerful. Once items are connected, the outline displayed can't be split in the middle and thus can't be recognized.

For instance, a suitcase with uniform sides stuffed inside placed on top of a wardrobe would appear to Jimmy as a single piece, just a wardrobe with a full shelf, unlike when viewed with direct vision where the upper and lower parts can be distinguished.

These Spider Monsters give Jimmy a very bad feeling because once outsiders capture them, it'll cause big problems. Cleaning them up as much as possible gives him some peace of mind. Even if he discovers afterward that he hasn't cleaned thoroughly, it's far better than doing nothing at all.

After a night, Jimmy's impression of the layout of these houses and the items inside wasn't very deep. This time, he drove along the road to check, recognizing bit by bit. After running back and forth twice, he had no choice but to give up this method, so he got out to inspect each house.

Thankfully, with Heart Eye Vision, he could identify which houses had basements and tunnels, significantly reducing the workload. After thoroughly inspecting, Jimmy finally determined that the Spider Monster he killed should be the last one here. He carried gasoline back to the previous cave, enduring the unpleasant smell to splash gasoline on those cocoons, then laid a line which he ignited at the cave entrance before quickly climbing out.

The air in the cave wasn't abundant, and he temporarily couldn't arrange an air transport pipeline. Perhaps this gasoline couldn't burn much, but without incendiary grenades or napalm bombs, that's all he could do—whatever burns, burns.

After lighting the fire, Jimmy left the warehouse. The burning was underground, so there's no concern about the houses here having problems. He sat in the car waiting for a dozen minutes before turning the car around and leaving the small village. He didn't know when the officials would discover that the people here were all gone.

Since he didn't know when it would end here, Jimmy didn't book a plane ticket in advance. Once back at the hotel, he discussed returning to New York with Roland.

Besides the return, the most crucial point is that Jimmy needs Roland to tell him how exactly he came from the Dark Tower World to Earth. It's very important, and Jimmy's most concerned about this, even more than the Black Rainbow itself.

Roland wanted to persuade Jimmy to return with him to the Dark Tower World, so he didn't hide anything, sharing everything from discovering the Spider Monster to later finding the rift to Earth and its location with Jimmy.

Learning that the rift is in a very small cave, Jimmy wasn't worried. The village's location is very remote, and in such a setting, unless someone knows the location and specifically seeks it out, the rift won't be discovered.

Jimmy's doubts were resolved, but Roland still had to continue persuading Jimmy to go back with him. However, Jimmy had decided not to budge, so the topic could only be postponed until next time.

Roland's identity wasn't a problem, but he couldn't take his revolver on the plane. The security check would be a no-pass. Additionally, taking a wheelchair on a commercial flight was troublesome, requiring prior notice to the airport with the wheelchair needing to be checked in - a hassle.

Jimmy didn't want to fuss, so he contacted the bank service manager to book a small private plane. They stayed another night in Bangor, went to the airport early the next day, boarded the plane with guns and wheelchair, and flew directly to New York.

At a hotel not far from the bar, Jimmy booked a room for Roland, pointing out the nearby bar's location and if he wanted to drink, he could go directly and mention his name; he'd call Woody in advance, then went home.

This time away was relatively short, and thankfully Nia knew he went to find someone, so it was no surprise he returned so quickly. However, when they talked at night, Nia still scolded Jimmy. He brought someone back to New York, just settled them in a hotel, and then ignored them, which wasn't quite appropriate.

As the household's mistress, having thought of this, she naturally had to clean up the awkward things Jimmy had done, just like when James's family came to New York and Nia helped with reception. Now that Roland, who is very important to Jimmy, came, of course she couldn't neglect to show up.

Nia called the restaurant to reserve a spot for the next night and told Jimmy to remember inviting Roland for dinner the next day. After a lot of arrangements, everything was finally settled.

Though his legs were inconvenient, Roland still made it on time for the appointment. The waiter pushed Roland to Nia's reserved spot, and Nia and Jimmy stood up. Roland moved himself to a chair, not allowing Jimmy to help, and the waiter left with the wheelchair, leaving space for their discussion.

Jimmy and Roland were quite familiar by now. After introducing Nia to Roland, the waiter came to confirm, and then began serving the dishes.

Roland, after all, had lived here for a long time, so he didn't make jokes as if people from the Middle Ages coming to modernity knew nothing. Plus, Jimmy prepared a formal suit for him during the day, making him seem just a bit worn by time, slightly older, yet still very dignified.

However, this table was quite interesting — an elderly Black man, a young Asian man, and a young White woman. Such a combination isn't often seen. Luckily, Nia had deliberately arranged a corner spot, so those around them only paid slight attention.

When Jimmy and Nia married, Roland was already in the Dark Tower World, so this was his first time meeting Nia. After congratulating them, the conversation quickly started revolving around their relationship.

When Nia saw Roland's shooting video before, Jimmy vaguely mentioned once that his marksmanship was taught by Roland. Now, this was confirmed by Roland, and Jimmy trained with him for many years. Roland's contribution to Jimmy's excellent skills was the greatest, naturally sparking interest to witness it and see if she could learn a bit herself.

Roland didn't refuse. It was clear that Jimmy was very concerned about Nia when they were together, maybe he could influence Jimmy through her.

However, Nia was already an adult, it couldn't be as easy as when he taught Jimmy back in the day, and she probably only had a sudden interest rather than a genuine desire to learn long-term since she had to work. Being a detective is busy, anyone can imagine that, especially in New York, a super metropolis with cases way more than elsewhere.

Moreover, Jimmy had used the Black Rainbow, and the transformation of his body definitely exceeded ordinary imagination. Nia definitely couldn't compare. Although Jimmy didn't show much, just from his speed and reaction chasing the Spider Monster, he should almost match those Gunmen.

Yet, this is somewhat goodwill, and Jimmy surely appreciates Roland's goodwill towards Nia.

As for coming from another world, it definitely can't be disclosed to Nia. Both he and Jimmy will keep this secret. The matter is too significant to casually leak.

Roland publicly claimed he was from Texas, the place where he had retired back then. For Nia, geography posed a big problem; she didn't even realize how Jimmy from Little Rock, Arkansas, connected with Roland from Texas. In fact, there was a bit of trouble on Jimmy's side as he hadn't aligned his story with Roland's. Roland thought Jimmy was using his own identity, not realizing Jimmy's previous identity was from California, not Arkansas. The name was the same, but the identity itself had changed.

Jimmy realized this only when Nia asked, practically sweating buckets in panic. Luckily, Nia didn't pursue further, or there would surely have been problems right there, potentially leading to misunderstandings and trouble.
