Chapter 1443 778: Death Valley Memories

Chapter 1443 778: Death Valley Memories

Before Roland could say more, Jimmy quickly changed the topic; after all, Texas is a traditional hotspot for supernatural events in the United States. It would be easy for Roland to introduce a couple of legends to kill time. Besides, Nia always had an interest in these, so at least she wouldn't feel like Jimmy was being too obvious in switching subjects.

Roland has plenty of material for such topics; he's been active on Earth for decades, and combined with his experiences in the Dark Tower World, he could easily come up with things to catch Nia's attention.

However, this old guy clearly had no good intentions; he actually said the legends of Texas were boring, and the most impressive incident was in California's Death Valley, which made Jimmy feel uneasy.

Death Valley was where the original owner was rescued by Roland. At that time, a demon incident occurred; the original Jimmy had the luck to be saved by Roland, but his father died there. Afterwards, the original Jimmy lived with Roland and his group for several years, until his mental breakdown caused him to leave Roland and start wandering.

Nevertheless, Roland still didn't explain things clearly, only mentioning that supposed paranormal incidents occur every few years in Death Valley. It's a very mysterious place. Of course, unexpected events happen there naturally, so it can't be said that what he said is false.

Nia turned to look at Jimmy, blinked her eyes, and Jimmy immediately shook his head, "Don't think about it, places like that are too dangerous. Just stay safely in New York."

Nia is just an ordinary person; any paranormal event is severe for her. There are many unseen, untouchable, and deadly matters. Previously, Ghost Lake had already sent Nia to the hospital once.

Roland laughed, "Just joking, Death Valley is a well-known tourist spot in California. If there really were that many strange legends, how could so many people visit there for fun? However, the scenery there is quite good; we've been there several times. It's definitely a destination worth visiting."

Jimmy shrugged, "Regardless, Death Valley is not really suitable for tourism. The name itself is off-putting. I definitely wouldn't go; I'd rather go to Hawaii."

Nia: "Alright, it seems seeing things that aren't usually visible is indeed very hard."

Jimmy: "You better be cautious. Last time, you were already affected. Do you really want to encounter such things again? It's not every time you can luckily run into someone from the church."

Roland's smile slowly faded as he asked about the incident, and Nia animatedly described her encounter. Initially, it was just investigating a missing person case, but she accidentally fell into a trap and fainted. If Jimmy hadn't rushed over in time, things could have gotten really complicated.

That incident ended rather well, especially afterward when the priest arrived and held the exorcism ceremony. Though she was far away, she was considered a witness to the whole process, so she had lots of details, but she didn't mention what Jimmy did during it.

Roland turned to Jimmy and nodded, clearly indicating that Jimmy handled the matter. Jimmy, after all, has Flash Spirit abilities, which already put him ahead of many people.

Jimmy smirked and briefly recounted the story of Ghost Lake; the priests handled it cleanly, and the place can remain safe for a long time unless someone intentionally stirs things up. This issue doesn't need Roland's concern; as long as he's alive, it means that area is settled.

Roland didn't elaborate on paranormal incidents just because Nia had experienced them before. Instead, he chose some medieval legends from the Dark Tower World to switch topics. This dinner could be said to have pleased both the host and guest; the only regret was that Roland couldn't mention having Jimmy accompany him back in such a setting. This matter is certainly not something to discuss with Nia.

Jimmy and Nia together pushed the wheelchair to send Roland back to the hotel, then went home. However, their conversations always centered on Roland; Nia was quite surprised at Roland's age, seemingly a person in his sixties or seventies. Despite being injured, he was still very spirited and talkative, quite remarkable. The key is his relationship with Jimmy; it's not easy for people with such an age gap to communicate well.

Of course, this led to another question not asked earlier: what happened to Roland's family? After his injury, only Jimmy seemed to be taking care of him, which didn't seem right. Nia had known Jimmy for years, and aside from seeing videos knowing of Roland's existence, she had never seen Jimmy visit Roland or talk about him.

Jimmy wasn't quite sure how to explain this to Nia, he could only say that he didn't know either. However, his somewhat clueless attitude made Nia even more suspicious; Jimmy couldn't possibly be ignorant of such an important person's situation. After all, Jimmy is a highly experienced FBI agent, and anyone familiar with him would surely be investigated by him.

Jimmy wasn't fully aware of all the doubts Nia had, but he knew his performance last night was definitely not good enough, so early the next morning, after Nia headed to work, he immediately went to Roland's hotel room.

Some things still need to be clarified face-to-face; however, Jimmy didn't disclose all his past experiences to Roland. After all, things were complex; he merely revealed his current identity to Roland.

Roland is also originally from another world and has been on Earth for a long time without revealing his identity. Naturally, he wasn't surprised that Jimmy hid his previous identity either, but he did express some disdain for the FBI. Jimmy's fake identity in Little Rock hadn't been uncovered by them, pointing to a lousy background check.
