Chapter 1411 - 762: Dog Eat Dog

Chapter 1411 - 762: Dog Eat Dog

Mrs. Harriton was missing, and Jimmy didn't plan to intervene directly. His plans were not fully finalized yet, so he needed to continue. However, how to handle the people Dave had provided required careful consideration.

The two profiles he obtained from the locker both had disputes with the Harriton Foundation. Comparatively simple, much like Robbins who he had met before. Approaching them directly wasn't an issue, so it was relatively easy for Jimmy to manage and just spare time to meet them. However, the information provided by Dave was scarce and didn't reflect their connection to Harriton, making it problematic.

Sitting in the hotel room, Jimmy was a bit troubled by the information in front of him, but soon a thought struck him, discovered thanks to Wright's reminder.

Wright made his routine call to update Jimmy on his investigation progress, apart from the usual investigation of the docks, he also communicated results from a special questioning with the kidnapping group about the security guards.

According to the surveillance video, although the complete guest list for the banquet wasn't available, a few people had been identified. These individuals appeared among the evidence, unrelated to the kidnapping and detention case itself, but Wright's words reminded Jimmy. These people were undoubtedly connected to Mr. Harriton's network, while those not captured on video were an invaluable asset.

Jimmy didn't say much to Wright on the call, just acknowledged his hard work before hanging up. He picked up the list from Dave again and lightly flicked it, considering that the banquet masked the killer's entry onto the island and installation of the bomb, there was a definite possibility the killer had links among the participants, especially choosing this time when most security personnel were near the banquet activities to come ashore.

This hypothesis had some logic and was an operational lead. Since the guest list wasn't definitive, finding ways for others to suggest possible attendees would link everything together.

Jimmy recorded some information in his notebook, tore up the data, and flushed it down the toilet. It was time to get to work.

Jimmy called Wright, asking him to help collect the currently identified attendee list. Wright agreed without asking for a reason.

This worked well, sparing Jimmy from having to fabricate an explanation. Days of interaction with Wright gave Jimmy some understanding of his character – a typical field agent, flexible in thought, never refusing Jimmy's requests. Since discovering the deceased guard's body, he barely contested any of Jimmy's directions.

It made sense; being the first to notice something off, he and Mark wouldn't have sensed it. But pinpointing the corpse's approximate location from just a slight smell proved Jimmy's keen sensitivity to the case.

Everything prepared, Jimmy went to take a shower, ready for rest after a long day.

However, getting a good night's rest wasn't possible. In the middle of the night, he was startled by the phone ringing, "Who is this?"

"Agent, I'm Sebastian Morley, Mrs. Harriton's lawyer. Can we meet?" A man's voice came through, surprising Jimmy.

Jimmy: "What happened? Where's Mrs. Harriton? Why isn't she calling me herself?"

Sebastian whispered: "Mrs. Harriton just had surgery a few hours ago. She woke up once and fell asleep again, not awake yet."

Jimmy: "Surgery? For what?"

Sebastian: "There was an incident yesterday, I'd prefer discussing it in person."

Jimmy glanced at his watch on the bedside table: "Not now, how about in the morning?"

Sebastian: "Morning, okay. We'll await you at the Sunspark estate, I'll send you the address shortly."

Jimmy: "Alright, see you tomorrow."

Jimmy had long ago compiled Mrs. Harriton's information. The Sunspark estate was the Harriton family's ancestral land, located in the Malibu hills northwest of Los Angeles. It was a well-known affluent area, retaining significant natural environments due to its private property status.

It was still early, prompting Jimmy to put down the phone and get some sleep. Whatever happened over there wasn't his problem.

The next morning, after freshening up and getting dressed, Jimmy left the hotel and drove to Malibu.

Arriving outside the Sunspark estate, Jimmy couldn't help but whistle. From the outside, the estate's size was no joke. The wall was a mid-height combination of stone and cement, topped with iron fences adorned with spikes and patterns, exuding a sense of history.

Inside the estate were expansive lawns, surrounded by tall trees ensuring privacy without the icy feel of high walls.

As soon as Jimmy's car stopped at the entrance, the gate automatically opened. A camera on one of the walls was pointed directly at the entrance, indicating prior notification for the occupants.

Jimmy drove along the central pathway to the front of the manor, parking after circling a fountain.

A middle-aged man dressed in a suit stood at the door, descending the steps as Jimmy parked, "Welcome, agent. I'm Sebastian Morley."
